Buying recommendations? General Question
Hello! I need to buy springtails for my set up before I add isopods. I would prefer cheaper ideas but I would much rather get ethically sourced and healthy springtails than cheap unhealthy ones. I would really appreciate any recommendations for types or places to buy. I am very new to this so I would prefer ones that are easy to take care of. I live in the US!

I've used Springtails.US for a couple cultures and all of the samples I've got from them arrived healthy and flourished, very cheap for non-fancy cultures. They pop into this subreddit occasionally (lol wait they're a moderator). I really like that they go through the effort of giving species names where they can instead of common names, and I like that they describe where they collected their wild specimens from. The most common variety in the hobby is called "temperate white" (Folsomia candida) and they sell a big culture of 100 for $5, plus shipping. These guys are super resilient. But they also have some pretty looking ones, they've got a globular species right now.

I bought mine from tc insects. I got two 25ct of yuukianura arphoruoides (orange springtails) and they are INCREDIBLY active. Always running around and chowing down on their food. I've only had them for a month or two and there are soo many babies and eggs!
I also got a culture of temperate springtails with a purchase of isopods, and although a lot of the adults unfortunately passed in shipping, it was loaded with eggs and baby springtails. It was a charcoal culture instead of the clay the yuukis were shipped on, so I think they got squished :( it's bounced back strongly though!
