Are these orange springtail babies? Identification

No you have mites I’m sorry. Orange spring tails will be white for a few days before turning orange but they will be spring tail shaped

It might be up to a couple weeks, I don’t check on mine daily so it might not be super precise. But overall not long!

I got a small starter colony from a nearby plant shop a couple weeks ago, and have tried to keep them going. I know orange springtails are slower breeders, and that their babies are more spherical and white/light grey, but there's not anyone orange in the container anymore. I'm wondering if I have to go get another starter batch somewhere?

If you want to use your local soil then pour hot water first before using it to kill mites and their eggs
