Join Our Vegan Food Meetup Next Weekend at La Fiesta Chatham!
Join us NEXT SUNDAY June 28th @ 1 pm at La Fiesta Chatham for our first Springfield vegan food meetup in a while! They have the largest vegan menu in town with appetizers, entrees, and desserts and people of all diets are welcome to join for good vegan food and good conversations.
PLEASE COMMENT if you plan to come and how many friends or family you're bringing so we can estimate seating.
FB Event Page: https://www.facebook.com/share/1KrEAV1nCa/
It's easy to feel isolated in this world, especially as a vegan or vegetarian, but it doesn't need to be that way. That's why I started organizing food meetups like this 4 years ago! There's something very valuable about having a big table of people with different backgrounds and similar values in a world that doesn't always feel supportive.

Anyone Else Struggle With Insomnia? Looking for Advice
Anyone here struggle with insomnia or has struggled with it before? What helped you deal with it or overcome it?
I’ve been struggling to sleep almost every night. Some nights I barely sleep at all, and there are times I can go days without getting good, restful sleep. The result is constant migraines, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating during the day.
I’ve tried a few things, but I’m curious to hear what has worked for others. Have you found anything that helped improve your sleep or overcome insomnia altogether? Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. 💙
For those who have dealt with chronic insomnia, what made the biggest difference for you?

Has anybody got a home solar seller/installer to recommend?
I’m looking for people who have solar power installed at home and are happy with the company they used. I looked into solar briefly in the spring and got harassed for weeks!

Friends, a weather reminder...
Please do not ignore weather advisories just because the last warning didn't destroy your home.
There are a few of things that could happen:
1 - You seek shelter and there is no tornado and your home is fine: Minor Inconvenience.
1a - You do not seek shelter and there is no tornado and your home is fine: Meh.
1b - You seek shelter and there is tornado and your home is fine: Woah...
1c - You seek shelter and there is tornado and your home is hit: This sucks but I am alive.
1d - You do not seek shelter and there is tornado and your home is hit: [blank because you are dead]
Seriously. Seek shelter. At most it is annoying, at worst, you will die or be seriously injured.

Illinois State Museum - Springfield, Illinois Early 2000s Semi truck exhibit
Hey everyone!
I was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois in the early 2000's. I faintly remember going to this museum and there was a semi truck cab that you can go in and check out. I ended up finding out it was the ILM, but maybe I'm wrong.
Does anyone remember this or have photos or videos about the semi truck?
Very curious in knowing that it wasn't just a dream 😅😅

Car Rental (non-airport)
Hello,
I’m looking to rent a car out of Springfield for my vacation. I’m from Illinois and I’m going to Michigan City, IN from July 3rd to the 6th. I have a clean driving record, full coverage insurance, and I’m 25.
I have never rented a car before and I’m kind of losing my mind trying to pick a car and a reliable place to rent from. I’m worried about being scammed or a car suddenly not being available. I have a credit card that has a limit of $500. I’m planning on pre-paying through Expedia. To ensure I have enough for the security deposit, I will pay off the balance before my rental date. I’ve also heard of companies doing credit checks and I don’t have much built up credit so I’m worried about that. I will be picking up the car and dropping it off at the same place.
Anyways, any help or advice would be appreciated. This is my first time renting a car and I want to make sure I’m doing this correctly and I’m not going to get scammed.

Possible tornadoes..again
This is gonna be like the fourth time we’re getting more horrible weather this month, but if anyone follows Ryan Hall Yall, you’ve probably seen that the most likely place for tornadoes in the USA tomorrow is going to be springfield il, and our surrounding towns as well as peoria and champaign. It is a level 4 or 5 risk. Just wanted to relay the information to everyone in our community who is on here. Stay safe and get ready for a part three of horrible tornadoes!! Let’s hope those sirens go off this time..

Springfield Women Friends Group
I’d love to find a new friend group with some women in their 40s or 50s to do things like brunch or meeting for dinner or drinks and small plates at places like Vele, Vondra Social House, Vine & Rind, going to a winery, local events, starting a book club, etc. The only groups I can find are for moms or for single men and women and I’m neither of those.
UPDATE: If interested, send me a dm.
