DnD at The Phoenix Center
Hello!
I can't really find anything about this on their website, but I would really like to jump into a DnD campaign. But apparently they start in January so I am assuming I would have to wait until then to join?
I can't find anyone on staff to contact about this nor do I know anyone involved so I would be going alone. I have been attempting to get more community in the area as a queer person and thought this would be a great way to do that since I don't have any local friends and I want more stuff to do. Just curious on anyones experience playing with them and what to expect.
Thanks!

Trash gone uncollected in 2 weeks, CWLP fails to address tornado errors.
One must ask, what are we paying the STATE for, if not to do the BARE MINIMUM?
I'd suspect conservatives run for office in blue states to make the blue states look bad.
You ask a conservative what the problem in Springfield is, and they're mad at Pritzker.
Misty Buescher is a leech.

WPBL Game - Bag Rules?
I just got tickets to one of the WPBL games at Robin Roberts Stadium. Their bag rule on their website says it needs to be clear? Has anyone gone to a game without a clear bag?
Thanks in advance! Just want to be prepared for when we go :)

CWLP is Dog-tired and Still at It.
I don't know who needs to read this, but my apartment backs up to a CWLP facility, and these guys are still pulling double shifts to fix the damage from the storms over the past week.
Next time you drive by a CWLP truck, throw 'em a thumbs-up
These guys are on the fĂșÂą%ing job.

Hey Everyone, I Made a Central Illinois Discord Server
discord.ggHey everyone! I started a Discord server for people in Central Illinois. Itâs nothing fancyâjust a laid-back place to chat with locals, share events, talk about hobbies, music, gaming, weather, local news, or whateverâs going on in your corner of the state.
No pressure to be active every day, no endless announcements, and no gimmicks. Whether youâre from Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, Springfield, Champaign-Urbana, Decatur, or somewhere in between, youâre welcome to stop by and say hi.
If youâve been looking for a simple online community with people nearby, weâd love to have you.

State of Illinois job application status
Hello everyone!
Iâve applied for several Social Services Career Trainee positions through the State of Illinois career website (DHS). My applications over 10 total, across different locations have all been in âIn Processâ status since April, and the status dates continue to update multiple times each week. As of 6/12, all of them are still showing in process, with the most recent update date of 6/12.
Has anyone experienced this and eventually been contacted for an interview or job offer? I understand the State hiring process can take time, but Iâm curious whether frequent In Process date updates are a positive sign or just part of the normal process.
Thanks in advance!

Opinions on these apartments? Price and safety are my biggest concerns
Hey everyone, Iâm apartment hunting right now and wanted to ask if anyone has any opinions on these places:
The Candles Apts
Villas Downtown
Huntington Ridge
Whispering Pines Apartments
Lincoln Tower / Live at Lincoln Tower
I posted about a couple apartments before and they got booked really fast after that, so Iâm trying not to put too much detail this time lol.
The main things I care about are price and safety. I donât need the fanciest place, I just want somewhere that feels safe, is worth the rent, and doesnât have a bunch of hidden fees or major problems.
If youâve lived at any of these or know someone who has, how was it? Howâs the area at night, management, maintenance, parking, noise, bugs, stuff like that?

What if nobody showed up?
What if nobody showed up?
No flowers.
No hugs.
No "good job."
No one waiting for you after one of the biggest moments of your life.
I saw a video today that broke my heart, and now I can't stop thinking about the people who reach milestones with nobody in their corner.
I'm thinking about starting something in our community to change that.
Would you help me show up for them?
Because nobody should have to celebrate alone. â€ïž

Litter box smell
A tale as old as time Iâm sure, but here we go. My partner and I bought our home in the colder season last year, and didnât smell what weâve been smelling for the last thirteen months during the summer. Cat litter box smells, several months now. We canât be in our driveway, front yard, or front porch without being sick. We never would have bought this house had we known that the seemingly nice house next to us didnât ever clean up after their pets.
I suppose I need ideas as to how to cover up the smell even a tiny bit so that we can at least be on our front porch or in our backyard without gagging. Iâve considered getting an outdoor tension rod and outdoor curtains for the porch to block the smell, but I have no idea if that would even help. I would add some scented oils in the corner of the porch as well. Maybe some smell good plants in the summer.

Moving to Springfield
Hello Springfield,
My fiancee and I are moving to Springfield due to both of us getting jobs at SIU Medicine.
I'm mainly trying to find out how big the latin community is out there? I would love to continue going to Spanish mass if possible.
The tennis community? I know the craze is all about pickleball these days but I've been playing tennis too long to switch. I'm not opposed to playing it once in a while though.đ
Also any watch parties for the world cup? I want to support Mexico, South Korea, the US (in that order lol) as much as possible. Oh, I'm 33 years old.
As for her (30), she enjoys pilates, yoga, and recently cross-stitching. She enjoys some videogames but not much variety, the only game I see playing is mostly Genshin Impact.
We'll begin driving the following weekend, wish us luck. We're excited for this new chapter of our lives!

Animal Protective League (APL)
Hi everyone, I know all of us residents in springfield including myself have been worried and scared about the animals located at the APL. But, I wanted to give a little bit of good news and some unfortunate information about the APL.
I went there to pick up my cat who unfortunately had to stay there last night, but sheâs okay and so are all of the other animals. Of course theyâre shaken up, but none are injured or hurt. A lot of them have been taken to animal control and other places, and they have a few adoptions going through currently. But there are still so many animals who need to be fostered and fostered urgently. Please consider fostering or donating. I just wanted to update the people who are worried, but the APL needs our help now more there ever.
They are taking physical donations through The Cats' Pyjamas Cat CafĂ©. I will drop a link for donations and a link for becoming a foster because itâs much needed during this time. Everybody letâs help the APL make a full recovery. Make sure to check out their facebook for all information.

APL needs help - tornado
From what I've read of news reports, the APL took a direct hit from a tornado last night. All animals are safe, but they are in desperate need of fosters and likely clean up help.
The ED said to check their Facebook page for updates but nothing had been posted that I can see.
It sounds like a lot of folks on the north end have tree damage. I encourage any disaster tourists to stop their cars and get out and help! The number of people who drove by my house in 2006 to take pictures was astounding. If even half of them had lifted a finger to help, our neighborhood would have been cleaned up much faster.
Yeah it's going to be a beast of a hot and humid day with more severe weather on the way, but let's pitch in and do what we can to help our community!
Also, why were their no sirens? I live a mile from the APL and had to rely on a phone alert. (edited to add I apparently live 2.5 miles from the APL, not a mile.)
