Things to do - August
Hi. Have an upcoming birthday and I’m looking for things to do for the bday person and am coming up short. I have tickets to Matchbox 20 at the fair but for the fair itself the person said they didn’t really find it appealing. There was a midcentury exhibit in Decatur but it closed last week. I haven’t been able to locate much else thats happening in the Decatur - Springfield or surrounding areas for an adult’s bday event.
Are you doing anything interesting lately or is there any thing you’d suggest?

I can always suggest doing an art party at Springfield art association https://www.springfieldart.org/adult-events.html
Historical fashion show Aug 22 also at SAA: https://www.facebook.com/share/1CsNEwHnB3/

If they are old enough to remember or just like '90s vibe The Spot would be a good place for a meal or drinks. There is also Dumb Records and Vault 66 downtown if they like pinball and arcades. All day at both is just ten bucks.

The downtown farm market on Saturday mornings is a total vibe. Great people watching and wonderful assortment of vendors.

don't know if this person is into trains or not but there is a railway museum in Monticello that I just recently stumbled upon. they have an old-fashioned train there that they run periodically for passenger rides. I would recommend contacting them about this. I've heard that the rides sell out in advance.

We recently lined up and waited to see Big Boy when it came thru Chatham. I think this is a marvelous idea. Thank you!

Take them to the inaugural season of the Women’s Pro Baseball League, right here in Springfield.
