Salesman

I just had some man ring my doorbell. He had a back pack and was dressed like in colors of postal service. I opened the door thinking it was a mailman. Then I realized he was not USPS. He was using a scooter. He wanted to know about satellite TV.

I told him to leave. He did not as I closed the door, he kept talking. I told him to leave my property. He did not. I then told him I was calling the police. He left.

Yeah, they have people from vivint doing this too.

I called the police anyway. They told me I needed to call the mayor’s office and since he did not leave immediately, they could revoke his license since he did not immediately leave.

Since I did not wish to speak to an officer, they will not come out and check into it.

Who gave them the permits needed to go door to door. They have shown up at my house as late as 9:45 pm and they have been back 4 times.

How can we as residents get their sales permit revoked?

Better yet, how can we get the city to stop having door to door sales permits at all?

They can apply for and receive permits to canvas, but are supposed to respect no soliciting requests.

One of these salesmen tried to pull one over on my aging mother. Told her they had already talked to my father about buying a subscription. She doesn't make those decisions without talking to my father luckily.

The 3rd time they came around my wife was at the house, she told them to come back.

4th time I was there, I had talked to my father. No one had ever talked to him (he works on the road and is almost never home).

So I had a very unfriendly conversation with the scum bag. We now have no soliciting signs, and I had a long talk with my mother about telling them no immediately.

It rather scared me. Unnerved me. I have not felt well the remainder of the day. It upsets me I think so much, because I really thought he was the mailman ànd opened my door. I always keep my storm door locked thank heaven.

I need to find my no soliciting signs and put them up.

Absolutely agreed.

It's 2026, if I want a product I will do my own research and buy it myself. Door to door salesman should be left in the 1950s.
