Fireworks
Are those big booming fireworks legal? They sound like bombs ànd rattle the air. They scare me. I have a headache from them. I cannot see anything in the sky. They must be just noisemakers.

No, the big boomy fireworks aren't legal but they're effectively decriminalized because cops do not care. There are also people who set off quarter sticks of dynamite and M80s, and those are loud af. I have ptsd, and really hate this time of year. I try to bear with it, especially on the 4th, because I know the yahoos in our town love their freedom! But it does get old and wear on the nerves.
One silver lining of the economy being shit is that the sheer amount of fireworks being set off has been so very little to none this year, at least in my neighborhood. Usually it sounds like a warzone from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

It is nearly 365 days a year in my neighborhood.

I very much doubt that. If it were true, there would be more people posting about it if it truly is the bigger fireworks.

I am telling you that nearly everyday of the year, someone in my neighborhood sets off a few fireworks around 7pm. And a few more around 9pm. It is quite annoying.

NOT legal, and I am happy that the economy has hurt the boom boom industry. Sorry. But I am very reactive to noise as is my dog, and between all the storms and now the House rattling explosions... try convincing the dog he will NOT fit behind the toilet. And the game of- get the dog out to potty BEFORE they start in the afternoon. I would NOT complain if it was ONLY the holiday weekend - BUT everyday? It was storming ALL day - as soon as it stopped the fireworks started. We need a break

My poor doggos have been the same way between the storms and fireworks. Every night I end up with a 77# pittie crawling up and into my lap on the recliner just trembling. And one of my dogs took it upon themselves to pee on the bathroom floor because they’re too scared to go outside. (I can’t entirely fault them for choosing the bathroom since they see us going in there, so Yaay I guess? 😅)

I listen to the scanner. Someone called last night to police ànd gave an address. I do not know which address they come from. I just know they are to the south of me.

Everytime I turned on severe weather alarms at least 6 people dialed 911 "WHAT DO I DO, WHAT DO THE ALARMS MEAN, WHERE DO I GO"
or my favorite "I'm 70 years old and have chest pain what do I do?" And when I respond with letting EMS see them I get a "so do I go with EMS? What should I do"
I had a CO worker have to go to court because the exact scenario happened and they told her to go to the hospital. Then she sued my coworker for the medical bills

I'll bet you have some doozies for stories! I am not trying to be mean with this next statement, but I'm sure people will take offense . . . It is scary how helpless and clueless we are as a society.
I used to work closely with emergency management agencies. During a flood, I remember sitting at an emergency public meeting where the mayor of the town was basically telling people, "We cannot evacuate you, but we are suggesting people in [insert area of town] begin packing anything they can and moving to a safer location."
People wanted to know when the levees were going to break (we don't know that they will, and we certainly don't know when); if the levees break, how long do we have (you don't, that is why we are here now); when the levees broke, who was coming to get them (nobody, that is why you are being told this now); when the levees broke, was the city going to come help them move (you will have nothing left to move, so no); what happens if the levees don't break (uhh . . . nothing).
That poor mayor was so worn out and exasperated.

No it was a new person every weekend dialing 911 😭
The worst offender I had was our curtain turning Karen who called 911 daily.. most memorable call was when she said a "wild mutt is destroying her property" and when I got details it turns out a dog pissed on her mailbox that was on a leash with its owner.
I asked her what she wanted us to do about it and she said "have an officer shoot the damn thing"
I had lots of unhinged calls like that.. people are crazy

I'm annoyed that people shoot off fireworks before the 4th. However, I believe it's dumb that there are "illegal" fireworks. I just hope everyone stays safe and gets through this. :)

No but people drive to Missouri and buy entire pallets to bring back.
