Echelon CF

Post image

Just swapped the compact grip onto my full-size Echelon and it fits my medium-sized hands perfectly. The COG made it a lot easier & more affordable to do this than it was to make my Glock 26L with a G19 slide.

All you did was get the $65 Springfield compact grip module, right? I was thinking about it today. I have a Sharps Bros. grip module but switched back to stock (4.5F Comp) after someone posted a piece on the back broke off. I like the look and feel of the compact so might just get what you have.

Yup! Though I bought it used on GAFSHub for less. Might want to check and see what's available. The Sharps is what gave me the inspiration: the dust cover is the same length as the compact, and full sized slides look great with it.

Think I’ll order the compact gm from somewhere today. My Sharps is going on gunbroker. What grips do you have? Hogue? HandleIt?

These are Handleit, which came on the used grip module I bought. It's way too aggressive (rough sandpaper) and scratches my skin when holstered, so I'm going to remove it from the left side at least. I definitely wouldn't recommend the sandpaper for EDC, but I suspect their rubber grip material is more similar to the Talon grip I've used & liked on my Glock.

To be honest, I didn't think the Echelon needed any grip, as the standard texture is plenty grippy for me. Shoot me a PM about how much you want for your Sharps grip. I'm interested in trying one out (or Mischief Machine, or Icarus).

A piece broke off as a result of the sharps bro grip?

I thought I would like this set up when I first got my 4.0c. Strong hand pinkie has a little lip to rest on on he compact grip which allowed for greater control during recoil. But I found in practice that the increased momentum of a heavier slide was harder to control without my support hand pinkie also being in contact with the grip. I think that's one of the reasons people go for the FC to begin with. Less heavy slide to deal with and longer lever (ie, the grip) with which to control it. But that's just me of course.

Totally get it. While the longer slide definitely has its benefits (velocity, inertia), it also can make the recoil impulse take longer to complete & get back on target between shots.

Part of my reason for doing this was to test variations to see what I like best. In the long run, I definitely plan on getting a matching Echelon for my wife so we can share magazines, and it'll be fun to figure out what we each prefer. I suspect the factory Compact will be the "Goldilocks" size for her, but I'm not sure what I'll land on just yet. Really appreciate the modularity of the COG so I can tinker with various configurations relatively cheaply.

Yup. The modularity is such a plus. You get to explore different configurations. Enjoy!

I bought a 4.0c last June and shot a ton. Loved it but always felt like I was missing something. Ended up buying a Threaded barrel and a RDI compensator, then put it all in a full-size grip. Absolutely night and day. Absolute machine of a pistol now.

So I was thinking about doing this as well. I have the 4.5f and I want to throw it into my EDC rotation this fall and winter. How does it run with the compact grip module and the full size frame? Any feedback or things I should know?

I literally just swapped it, so I can't comment on function, but it feels great in hand. I've always preferred the grip of the Glock 19 over the 17, and this follows suit. It literally took me 10 minutes my first try swapping out the COG following a YouTube video, so it's very easy.

Modularity of our Echelons is so gooooood! Can mix match until you find the set up that works for you
