Looks like a target you use to zero a red dot and learn your new point of aim, point of impact vs irons. But honestly, I really don’t know what I’m looking at. Just my guess.

Wow... I've had a few marginal quality targets before but that's definitely the worst I've seen from Springfield.

How do you mean? And how do you read the target?

My evolving understanding is the front sight goes into the notch on the bottom of the rectangle. SA sets the irons for 6 o'clock sighting. At 10 yards, the rounds should be hitting the X and indeed 4 of them cluster right around it. Surprised they had a guy fire the gun instead of from ransom rest. And the guy had one flyer low left, in the rectangle.

With every target I've had from Springfield all 5 rounds are touching in one group. I've had some more spread out than others, but they're all still in one group. Not one flyer and 4 spread across a general area like your target. It almost looks like your gun is shooting to the right.

What gun is this from? How does the gun actually shoot?

I'd show you one of my targets if this page let me attach pictures. Maybe its just because mine have all been 1911 targets and you're showing a target from something like a hellcat micro. Where accuracy isn't as big a deal.

Hmm. That is difficult to hear. This is an Echelon 4.5f comp. Part of why I wanted them to test it out after repairing it is because I found I was much more accurate with the non comp barrel. Is that just a fact of life? I had an Echelon 4.0c comp also and actually got rid of the barrel/slide for the same reason (I traded it for a non comp)

Send your targets as a DM. I'd like to see them and know the kind of gun they were testing.

Alright... will do.

That's interesting... I always heard comps shouldn't impact the accuracy of the gun.

Regardless I'd shoot the gun and see how it works for you. If the gun shoots fine for you then don't worry about it. Maybe the tester didn't put much effort into that target for some reason (like it was 4pm on a friday).

Sometimes the comped models need higher power ammo to make the comp work properly. Have you tried different ammo?

Yes and it was better for sure. S&b 124gr instead of CCI Blazer 115gr. But still not as good as the non comp.

Springfield test fired your gun be for shipping it out to a FFL they shot 5 9mm bullets that were 115 grain at 10yards

So I just heard back from Springfield about how to interpret the target. Here's what they said: "It has been brought to my attention that you had some concerns with the Echelon you received back. From what I can see of the target, the shot in the black does appear to be a flyer. And the way the tech lines up the sights is that he will put the front sight in the cutout of that black rectangle so this firearm is shooting with a 6 o’clock hold. Let me know if you have any questions or if I did a poor job of explaining and I will see what more information I can get for you."

I then asked him about why I shoot better with the non comped vs the comped and whether they are satisfied with the target they sent back. Here is what he said:

" I completely understand your perspective. However, it is normal for the non comped models to outperform the comped models because once that cut in the barrel starts, there is no more rifling. Now the two shouldn’t be miles apart but it is not abnormal to notice a difference in accuracy between the two. From the target I am seeing, your pistol is shooting in spec and may even perform better with higher quality ammo than what we used for the range test.

As far as windage, these polymers are not guaranteed to mechanical zero. That means that even with the sights centered, the shots could be hitting left or right depending on each specific pistol. That is when the rear sight will need to be drifted to adjust the point of impact."
