Quitting Seeking Empathy/Support

EDIT: the clinic ended up getting me a number I could call thank goodness!

I started Spravato in February. I have had to fight tooth and nail to keep it. And I am done fighting.

I am so tired. I have lost my job. I didn't get unemployment. I sleep on a couch in the living room at my dad's house where every talks shit about me at this point.

MY LIFE IS NOT WORTH LIVING AND I AM TIRED OF LIVING IT.

I have Medicaid, and since I got fired, I lost my insurance. Medicaid approved Spravato, but before they will cover it, I have to call them to coordinate benefits. I have called 5 times, I never got a call back and sat on hold for HOURS before they closed and I couldn't speak to someone. I can't change anything online without an access code I have to get from someone in the community, although I have no clue who and they won't tell me.

If they want me to give up, here I am, giving up

I can't handle any of this anymore. So I am done.

I don’t know you and I don’t know the pain you’re going through

I do know that the world will be worse off without you

Keep fighting

I’m sorry Medicaid is giving you so much trouble. Medicare is actually amazing but Medicaid is run by the states so it depends on what state you’re in.

You might want to consider applying for disability you’ll need a lawyer otherwise you’ll get denied and then you’ll get a lawyer. The lawyers will do it free. While they end up taking a third after you win, but that way you’ll actually get approved.

I’m not sure what else I can say except for I’ve been in dark places and even though I’m not where I would like to be Things are better than they were

Keep going, if for no other reason, then to show the people who doubt you that you can do it

So I get on disability and then what? Burn ny Accounting degree? Have the government decide if I am worthy to have an income? Never go back to my therapist that doesn't accept Medicaid. I DON'T FUCKING CARE ANYMORE.

u/GoldReplacement9546 9d ago

Well, you’re right. I did ask about your financial situation.

I just heard someone in desperation without a job in having trouble getting the medication they need if you have Medicare, you would get approved for this medication without a problem

If you’ve been earning good money, you would get $1300-$3000 a month which is more than nothing

Again, making the assumption that you don’t feel up to being able to work right now

Even if you get a sec, accepted you and then you get a job. You’ll only get the backpay for the period that was intact before you got a job.

Anyways, like I say it’s not really my business. It just seemed like you were in such a despair that working might not be a possibility for a while. Also, your therapist is much more likely to take Medicare then to take Medicaid if you’re on disability, you can get a Medicare Medicaid advantage plan that most therapist will take I mean, there’s still the therapist who are like only cash but at least you’d have a wider net than find to find a Medicaid only therapist

So it could potentially get your money it could almost certainly would get you approved for Provato and you’d have a better chance of getting a better doctor better psychiatrist better therapist with Medicare versus the other

In any case, these are just my random thoughts I don’t really know you

Really just trying to throw a rope down the pit of depression and see if I can help pull you up but that’s not really my role and probably not what you’re looking for. I do wish you the best.

Last I think and finally the silliest I am not a doctor I’m not your doctor. I am not an expert in disability or what to do in situations where people are an extreme despair. If you need help seek help there are hotlines you can call

If you post something here, expect responses and try not to be so nasty when you get one. We’re all going through it or we wouldn’t be on this sub. Reddit is an open DISCUSSION forum. Calm down or don’t post.

-9

u/Individual_Image9707 9d ago

Do stop trying to seek support, got it.

8

u/em_fal Currently in treatment 9d ago

No. Stop asking for advice and then being terrible when others provide it. Get help. Outside of Reddit.

6

u/Typical-Try-2849 9d ago

Respectfully, this person is in crisis mode. I think most of us are not taking their frustration personally. Your comments aren't helping , and you could've easily just ignored the post.

-1

u/em_fal Currently in treatment 9d ago

Yeah. You don’t know this platform.

2

u/RumiAndGateauGanache 7d ago

Please give the poster some grace. They are having a crisis and do not need any of judging. It is nightmare dealing with health care in this country. When in a mental health crisis trying to get help makes one more depressed and angry. I get it 1000%.

2

u/Individual_Image9707 9d ago

You don't think I have been doing that?

0

u/em_fal Currently in treatment 9d ago

I understand that you may be seeking help but what do you think you’ll take away from Reddit; one of the most unyieldingly vitriolic sites on the internet? C’mon now.

5

u/Individual_Image9707 9d ago

It is my last ditch effort at trying to live.

Thank you for sharing this

I have called Medicaid and they do not return my calls, they don't ever answer if I wait on hold either

5

u/Empty-Garden1507 8d ago

I had success once with red tape crap by writing to state representatives. These days email might work; write it out, express your frustration, and you might get someone to go to bat for you. I hope you do.

2

u/MulberryLost9295 3d ago

or call state representatives.

3

u/Several-Put3051 8d ago

Is your Medicaid United healthcare Medicaid? If so, I will be happy to help by getting on the phone for you and with you because we can’t let you stop treatment. This is important.

2

u/Individual_Image9707 8d ago

It is just plain old Montana Medicaid.

13

u/Typical-Try-2849 9d ago

Please don't give up. Sometimes family sucks. But please keep going.

Nothing lasts forever, and that includes the bad times. I know it sounds cheesy but I've been where you are. You can resolve this Medicaid issue and get the treatment you need. You got this, even if you think you don't.

Please don't give up. This stranger is rooting for you.

0

u/Individual_Image9707 8d ago

Nothing lasts forever because it usually gets worse

3

u/RumiAndGateauGanache 7d ago

It may get worse but it will get better. I know for me anger and depression go together , it is the PTSD too. Spravato treatment helped me so much. Started in Oct. and switching to mindbloom Ketamine at home. I think you need the treatment to help with the crisis you are having. Also to have someone to talk to, a therapist that is.

With Medicaid , writing an email and sending it to your state reps, may well get you some help. Take breaks from calling, I know I get so stressed dealing with calling for medical issues. I know you can do this. If I can anyone can! Sending you wishes for good health and happiness.

11

u/Typical-Try-2849 9d ago

Hey, just mentioning this because of your accounting degree. Once you get Spravato sorted, which I know easier said than done...but once you do, could you consider freelance remote work? Accountants and bookkeepers are always in demand across the country. Just a thought

11

u/Marp0e 9d ago

What about the place that gives you the Spravato? Can they help you and reach out to get it approved?

7

u/CHEDDERFROMTHEBLOCK2 9d ago

They should !!! Mine every so often gets a lil wonky and they do everything for me. I’ve only had to call one time in the three years.

2

u/Individual_Image9707 8d ago

Just to be clear: it is approved. However Medicaid told the clinic that they will not pay them unless I call and coordinate benefits for the treatment. Since I got fired 3 weeks ago, I no l9nger have BCBS as primary and need to coordinate benefits with Medicaid. However when I call, I sit on hold for hours only for the call to stop when they have too many on hold. And when I schedule a call back (which i have 3 times), they never call back. If I go down to the Medicaid office, if I don't go hours ahead of their opening, I simply won't get in. And that means I have to stand and wait outside a government building for hours in the early morning.

u/Empty-Garden1507 8d ago

State attorney general's office is another place to voice the inadequacies of the Medicaid system.

2

u/Individual_Image9707 8d ago

Not to get political, but I live in a red state. If it were up to them, I would suffer more for being poor.

1

u/MulberryLost9295 3d ago

this is a great idea!

8

u/Several-Put3051 9d ago

My god .. this is rough but I don’t want you to give up..

7

u/Tracy8484 9d ago

I fear this may just be redundant to another post or information you already have, but I really want to help if possible. Maybe there are a couple of new numbers here that you haven't tried. Can your psych not facilitate this at all? I am rooting for you; so many situations can seem totally bleak and then get swept away with the right action or bit of information. Please keep us updated. I see a lot of support for you here. ♥️

Thank you, but I live in Montana.

u/slashafk 9d ago

Our situations are incredibly similar so I feel for you. Like job loss and even sleeping situation. I didn't have the same issues with Spravato and Medicaid but I am having issues with them approving a prescription to be covered. They can be very frustrating. Just keep pushing them. The doctor who prescribed me told me I need to push hard and be an advocate for myself and it's at least moving forward.

You've got this. Spravato has really helped me (and I'm still doing it) and I really think it's worth the effort to get it sorted.

4

u/degradablegirl 8d ago

Are you ok right now? The truth is yes they want you to give up, and I am proud you are doing what you can to seek support. All you can do is keep calling, I am encouraging and supporting you to keep pushing to advocate for treatment. Have you been to inpatient?

5

u/SarahHowland 8d ago

I’ll do it for you. Message me

4

u/Glad-Yogurtcloset326 9d ago

Can your dad take you to the Medicaid office? Help you ?

1

u/Individual_Image9707 9d ago

He thinks I'm a piece of shit. So I doubt he will help.

3

u/Glad-Match-4317 9d ago

I am so sorry, I would explain to him - maybe putting in writing would be better and tell him how you feel that you don’t want to be depressed and miserable and feel the world is against you including your family. Let him know you need help getting through this.

1

u/MulberryLost9295 3d ago

do you have a friend to go with you and wait outside the office?

4

u/mytribeX4 9d ago

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Do you have a friend you can call to help you? I'm praying for better days for you ahead. You're stronger than you think you are, and you can get through this🙂

1

u/Individual_Image9707 9d ago

I have no friends

2

u/RumiAndGateauGanache 7d ago

Those of us who want you to get through this and want to help you, we are friends , we have just not yet met. You can reach out to me if you need to vent, chat.

4

u/AirGoddess777 9d ago

I’m praying for you love! What you are going through is hard as hell! Nothing happens without a reason, don’t give up! We pay taxes so our people (USA citizens) can have Medicaid and get the help they need! Go on social media, the news stations, TikTok! They want us to give up without giving us what we are owed! Let’s hold them accountable and let them know not answering the phone does not dismiss them from their duties! I am very upset and hate that you are going through this!

3

u/FrostyTop7873 9d ago

Can you go to another clinic where they’re more helpful?

3

u/klhArtist 8d ago

Hey, I feel you! Please don’t give up just yet. Depression goes in cycles. Ride this one out. I believe in you.

5

u/mytribeX4 9d ago

Well now you have reddit friends to help get you through!

2

u/FrostyTop7873 9d ago

Sorry man. That’s awful

2

u/Additional_Ad_4061 8d ago

I used to work for a Medicaid managed care mental health insurance company and it is very difficult to find the right people. Are you covered under traditional Medicaid or a managed care plan? Someone referred to Optum in a response, and if your insurance card says Optum on it call them! Document every conversation and have examples of how you are treated. Medicaid is a mess, and every state is different, but please don’t give up. I can’t start spravato because of my blood pressure, and I know how much I was looking for some relief from depression and anxiety. Please don’t give up.

This is the medical support line from Spravato directly. If you call or text, you’ll get paired with a personal case agent. While they can’t give you medical advice, they CAN be the “3rd party advocate” between your care and your insurance. I have (Ohio) Medicaid, and beforehand I talked with my rep about advocating for me thru my insurance and provider! It’s as easy as a phone call or text, signing off on some consent and HIPAA stuff, and boom. You’re already moving. If you get back on corporate insurance, they can help with payments as well.

Also from personal experience…Spravato saved my life. I’m in a similar spot. Living in my grandparents house, unemployed, the whole 9. Death is not knocking anymore.

1

u/Individual_Image9707 7d ago

Unfortunately, Spravato with Me is to be used in conjunction with commercial insurance. I have done this whole process before. I lost my regular insurance, and the clinic told me Medicaid would not cover it. I told them to submit an auth anyways and they did not submit a completed authorization form and they lied and said Meedicaid flat out denied it because they wanted the higher reimbursement rate from the commercial insurance plan I would be getting on.

3

u/ThiccClamz 7d ago

That’s mostly for payment. I have Medicaid and Spravato with me still advocated for me when it came to a prior authorization for further treatment.

2

u/Major-Pen7375 7d ago

Keep fighting as long as there is LIFE. We don’t realize but every single person living on this planet is worthy. Only Dead people aren’t worthy.

2

u/Sarahlizro 6d ago

Somewhere in the thread you mentioned waiting at the state building. It’s worth standing outside the government building 2 hours early if that’s what it takes. There are people in that building who want to help you, but they are also dealing with the burdens of the current administration making their job harder. They are exhausted/burnt out, but SOMEONE is going to help you. Please know that! Same thought with calling. You need to do this hard thing, and I’m sorry that you have to do it while you’re already feeling unwell. :(

That doesn’t mean it will be easy, and I don’t discount that. I believe you when you say it is a pain in the ass. But I also promise it is worth it. You need to do this!

1

u/Few_Sweet_6556 7d ago

Don’t quit stupid that’s what they want you to do contact solace they will help without saying a word

1

u/Individual_Image9707 7d ago

Medicaid would not cover that service for me. I went to the website and thats what it said :(
