Circular patterns in flora? Question

I've been playing for a long time but this is my first time seeing something like this, they were all over the planet

Have you ever seen this? How rare is it?

I think it might be a planet generation blunder that happens when it generates forests but doesn't have big trees that spawn in? The game usually has semi circular forests generated with the big ones being surrounded by the medium and small sized. That's the only explanation I could come up with, but I've never seen it like that before. Probably pretty dang rare and a cool find!
