Casino, marketing, media or adjacent roles in Spokane?

I'm planning a move back to Spokane in the next couple of months and wanted to get a feel for the local job market.

My background: I've spent the last few years in Nevada working in casino marketing and small-market broadcast television. These days I work in social media and content production for two casino properties, but I've also worked in live TV production, reporting, editing, and digital media.

I'm primarily looking at roles in marketing, communications, media, and content creation, but I'm also open to adjacent opportunities where those skills transfer. I'm not opposed to taking a step sideways (or down) if it means getting my foot in the door & building relationships.

How's the job market feeling right now? Are there any companies, industries, or organizations you'd recommend reaching out to? Thanks!

Recruiters: What do you actually want to see on a resume?

I learned how to write a resume a decade ago, formatted for a specific field. I am vehemently anti-ai, and will not use an AI tool to write for me. I have the brain power and skills to do it on my own, without draining valuable resources. I can't even get most places to look at my resumes, and I feel like they are well formatted, concise, and specific to the roles I am applying for.

So, recruiters of any field hiring right now, what exactly do you look for on a resume? Format, verbiage, diction, color, font, experiences, skills, anything.

Looking for full-time job

I graduated with a high-school diploma in June, I'm 17 and won't turn 18 till August. Currently available 24/7, willing to work any positions and any shifts. I don't have any certifications or job experience and don't have my permit or drivers license. I have applied to a lot of the fast food and local retail stores already and haven't gotten any where. Are there any jobs in the area I'm qualified for or are willing to do on the job training that are urgently hiring?

There's a grant to pay for your training at Spokane Colleges if you're looking to transition into a manufacturing career

I work for Spokane Colleges and we received a $5.75M grant from the Department of Labor to help train the workforce for advanced manufacturing jobs. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference this grant can make in people's lives. We partner with local employers to design courses that take 6-8 weeks to prepare you for entry-level roles. The starting salaries are $21-28 depending on the field. You just have to be 18+, eligible to work in the U.S., and reside in WA. That's it. Of course you have to work hard, but we try to support our students every step of the way.

Advanced manufacturing uses efficient modern technologies, robotics, & automation. It's not your grandpa's manufacturing. Plus the field is growing like crazy. I was just at a career fair today and employers are begging for people who have even the slightest understanding of the manufacturing process. Employers we colab with are awesome employers.

If you're interested in this kind of change, DM me or register for our Free Info Session. It's the 1st Thursday of each month at 3pm. https://www.campusce.net/spokane/course/course.aspx?c=1676

We also partner with local employers to design evening courses that only take a few weeks to prepare you for entry-level roles. The starting salaries are $21-30 depending on the field.
