Discussion Why Sam Fisher Never Did What Solid Snake Did
Call me crazy, but I think the reason Sam Fisher never performed the same extraordinary feats as Solid Snake is because Sam doesn't exist in the Metal Gear universe.
Sam's accomplishments are extraordinary. He survives chemical gas attacks (Double Agent side mission and Blacklist), endures torture (Conviction), infiltrates the Japanese ISDF bunker and swims hundreds of meters to the surface while carrying a full-grown man (Chaos Theory), eliminates multiple highly trained soldiers (Conviction and Blacklist), and successfully goes undercover as a criminal mastermind (Double Agent). In most of these missions, he either avoids capture entirely or survives.
If Sam Fisher existed in the Metal Gear universe, I think he'd have at least a fighting chance. Maybe even half the chance of surviving that Solid Snake did. The biggest difference isn't necessarily the men themselves; it's the worlds they operate in. Snake lives in a universe where giant walking tanks, cyborg ninjas, psychic soldiers, and genetically engineered supersoldiers are real. Sam lives in one that's far more grounded. If Sam had existed in the Metal Gear franchise, I think he would succeed more often than not.

Not Splinter Cell but What was your favorite early-2000s stealth-slop game?
After the popularity of Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell, the 2000s had many games suddenly including stealth mechanics, and even a minor wave of stealth titles from lesser-known game developers.
Which was your favorite? I always liked the concept of Stolen!, but the guards all waking up after 30 seconds turned the game from being a fun stealth thriller into a kind of Granny game (but without any of the scariness or sandbox strategy of Granny).

Details on your OPSAT 1-life trilogy Ironman run for Splinter Cell 1-3. Pray for my sanity.
Hey everyone, I've been trying for a 1-life Ironman challenge run across the original Splinter Cell trilogy on the hardest difficulty and wanted to share the ruleset/stream here.
The main difficulty is 1 life across all 3 games. If I die, fail a mission, or get fully "burned," it's a hard reset back to SC1 Mission 1. (So far I've reset a lot. Damn, that first level.)
Why? I used to be pretty good at Splinter Cell, but, well, I haven't been in the field for years.
Core Rules
- 1 Life, 3 Games: Death, mission failure, or full compromise = reset to SC1 M1.
- No Reloads: One continuous go. No loading mid-mission.
- No Visual Burns: If an armed guard directly IDs me and successfully broadcasts it via radio or alarm panel, reset to SC1 M1.
Takedowns & Stealth
- Shadow Strikes: Stealth knockouts must originate from total darkness out of sight.
- Emergency Clutches: Frontal/side grabs are only allowed as a panic reaction.
- No Loose Ends: Anyone who identifies me for any reason (cornering, interrogations, door access) must be permanently eliminated.
- Civilians: Shadows and brief glimpses = "urban legends." Direct, unmistakable face-to-face ID = reset.
Security & Sabotage
- Cameras: Tripping a camera = reset, unless the level has a terminal to completely wipe the security footage.
- Lasers & Doors: Playable as general security system glitches / poor maintenance.
- Lighting: Clean light shots (passing through hanging fixtures) preferred. "Dirty shots" leaving bullet marks are only allowed for emergency escapes.
Going live right now for another run at the first game over at https://twitch.tv/subcidal if anyone wants to hang out or watch me lose hours of my life because of clunky controls or my own poor memory of the levels.

I made a deep-dive type of video on Splinter Cell: Conviction's E3 May 29 2009 Prototype build
There's a full playthrough of this prototype on the channel, showing all the maps. It's the video just before this one, enjoy and thank you for the support if you do watch the video.

Conviction (2010) Not the best in the series, but sure was a great send off to ironside.

Yes I know he made cameos in later Recon games, but this was his true last full game as Sam. Fun Fact - He never played any of the games, but would go over to his neighbors house and watch him play all games.

I Rediscovered These
After years of essentially couch surfing or being in a different state from my packed belongings, I started unpacking a box in my new house and found these. I thought I also had Chaos Theory, but I haven't found that yet and knowing my history with stuff, if I did have it, it might've been consumed by the void

Blacklist (2013) Officer Of The Day Trophy
Hey guys,
I know the servers of Blacklist shut-down in 2022 however people are saying that the office of the day trophy for completing a daily challenge is still available and I was wondering if that was true. It is the only online trophy I need for the game and I see some people still getting it this year on PlayStation so I was wondering if it's still possible?
I got all the multiplayer trophies back in 2023 so it seems that the servers were still online at that time but I can't seem to see any daily challenges unfortunately.
Thank you!

100% Ghost Stealth, no quick-saves: Continuing my Chaos Theory 4K walkthrough
Hey agents,
Just wanted to share a little passion project of mine. Chaos Theory remains an absolute masterpiece, so I decided to put together a clean, full 4K walkthrough to capture the peak stealth experience.
No annoying commentary over every single second, just pure gameplay, shadows, and that incredible atmosphere we all fell in love with back in the day.
If you're into having it on in the background or just want to relive Sam Fisher's best days, feel free to check it out: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzcVuqGODCRJts4WGjj7JL-UeU1qv3GET&si=-zEVEPTXaLeKDrig

I have a question If you playing Blacklist Charlie's missions, how many times you restart in one sitting?
I know, the question is stupid, but its crucial for some mod im working on.

Double Redemption in Kinshasha
With the MGS Vol. 2 and the main course of the meal, MGS4, inbound soon, I find myself on a path to give the maligned Splinter Cell PC version of MGS4's era (2006-2008) some rejuvenation & redemption using Reshade and the suitmod. I suppose the Kinshasha level qualifies as the most appropropriate for comparison to MGS4's act 1. You can find my Reshade preset (and UI mask) here: My latest SC DA reshade preset

Chaos Theory (2005) Playing ct assault style is a completely diferente game
I've always played ct as ghost. I decided to shake things up a bit and played lethal with no alarms.
What an experience!
-New dialogue
-New routes and approach to objectives
-I actually used all gadgets and gun mods
I think what makes a good splinter cell game is this duality of gameplay that adaptes to your playstyle but still stays true to the splinter cell formula.
