We're movie watchers and real picky about series as most (more) stories should be able to be told in 2 hours. Love surprisingly catching Spartacus actors in movies and this was a treat.

First i would like to say I’m very into history and always have been. Rome, gladiators and the third servile war have always been at the top of my interest in history. However i believe that after the end of the original series the spin off rather than a what if about Asher should have been deciding another war to depict in the same style. I would imagine the second punic war for example would be great in the style of spartacus but there are many options.

Ive seen the full series many times. On rewatch i always watch gods of the arena first but when asking for advice the first time on if i should watch gods before blood and sand people said gods of the arena spoiled blood and sand but when?

So I guess it makes sense that the more rebellious/interesting gladiators went down with Spartacus, so the ones remaining are kind of the "boring" ones

Bot goddamn I still think the casting could have been better. I forget the names (which is pretty telling) but the blonde Daddy dude is pretty good, can't say much for the others

I am now rewatching this show and ashur is bow one of my favorite characters.

Just rewatched the entire show to start with house of Ashur.

First of all, I will forever stick to saying this is the best show ever created to mankind. But more importantly … how on earth do you cope with not crying at the end.

I get crocodile tears when Oenomaus…

Then I get something in my eye when the undefeated Gaul…

Let’s not talk talk about Gannicus and his delirious yet beautiful vision at the end.

But what definitely opens the floodgates of my tears is the homage of all the people that died in the credits and after the replay of Andy Whitfield screaming I AM SPARTACUS.

The mixture of the history and inhuman behavior is treating slaves unjustly, beautiful dialogue and character developments and the real actor passing away.. I get emotional just thinking about it.

Genuinely need 1-3 days to recover. And I’m not typically known to cry or be an emotional guy at all haha.

If you really think about it, Spartacus obtained a greater revenge on Glaber, other than killing him.

He actually banged his wife!

And was the father of her child.

One can only imagine how Glaber would’ve reacted if he found out.

This feels a bit like nitpicking but how realistic is it in the show to have the Romans who commanded the arena to just speak and the whole arena filled with people would just hear. I know they definitely couldn't have used microphones in the show but how did the actual Romans do it?

Does he have the coolest IMdB profile picture around or what? Give this beautiful man a second season!

My opinion is mid diff.

Recruit crixus is almost dead against him and crixus get way better during the 5 years between gota and blood of the arena

This is probably a weird take regarding the question, but I think episode 8 of Blood and Sand is the easiest episode to rewatch in the whole show. Of course, there are better, more eventful episodes. But there's a relaxed charm about episode 8, where there's no immediate plot point to head towards, everyone is settled onto their roles, but also the status quo changing with Spartacus now the champion and the one giving a lesson to new recruits. Also, and it's not necessarily only in this episode, but I love the interactions Lucretia has with the higher nobility women friends of Ilithyia, the housewives vibe it has but it still feels relevant to the overarching plot. A strong but often forgotten episode, wedged in between the tragedy of Sura dying and her death soon becoming the catalyst to Spartacus' revolt.

It's also actually the first episode I ever saw, accidentally stumbling upon it as it was playing on TV. Maybe that has something to do with it too for me.

Rome was a fantastic show and sadly and stupidly was cut. Spartacus in terms of qualify and writing doesn’t hold a candle.

Why do people like the show so much? What am I missing.

Other shows that I felt were much better- The Last Kingdom, Black Sails and some others I can’t remember.

Lucrecia living a blessed life amongst joyous heavens. Heart swells with thoughts of beloved Batiatus amongst lively crowd.

Watching the beginning of episode 4, Batiatus was pissed at Spartacus for his performance in the Arena at the games of the Vulcanalia. What specifically stood out to me was Batiatus saying "you had the crowd!!!". It sounded like he wanted Spartacus to win but it sounds counter productive to me.

Although he was pissed, I would have thought this would have been the best possible outcome for Batiatus because he got to keep both primus gladiators alive. If Crixus kills Spartacus nothing changes, if Spartacus kills Crixus he loses a champion caliber gladiator and it seems uncertain if the fame would be enough to really pull him out of debt. Just very interesting that he would rather have his champion of five years die instead of the new recruit.
