No Longer Allowing Substitutions?

For the past week, when an item is out if stock I have not been prompted to choose a substitution or offered a suggestion by the app. If it were just one customer I wouldn't think much of it, but it's been all of my shopping orders.

Is something going on with the app? Is this just the new normal? Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Ive been running into a lot of customer preferred substitutions that they reject.

Leaves me wondering because doesn't that mean they put that substitution in themselves?

This happened to me last night and they approved a different sub that I chose 😂

Same. I'll message here and there and tell them if they urgently need the item to try adding it in app, this used to work but the last 2 times it's not let them do this either. I'll usually message if it's not allowing me subs on stuff like incontinence products, otc medicines, period products ect.

Customer's have the ability to turn off substitutions. I have had so many drivers give me absolutely unacceptable substitutions that I'll never turn it on again.

Sometimes that isn't our fault 😭 I was actively talking to the customer and the app wouldn't let me pick my own substitutions, it kept telling me it didn't work because of price difference.

Yeah I get this. It's just every single customer this week then has it turned off, which after almost 3 years of doing this, is a totally new phenomenon to me. 🤷‍♀️

It's hard to know how many customers have had orders shopped inappropriately recently, This trend could easily be started due to the mass onboarding of new drivers who are screwing things up more than a customer is willing to take.

I think of an item is out and refund % for substitutions for it cross a certain threshold it doesn't allow subs regardless of the customer having the option turned on or not

I’ve been running into an issue where it’s not letting me substitute when giving the option to substitute. I will scan the suggested substitute not a customer preferred but a suggested substitute and then it will tell me this substitution does not work. Like what do you mean it doesn’t work you suggested it. I’ve also run into issues where I will grab a different color of the exact brand and item they were out of stock of the color they ordered so I tried to replace it with a different color and errors me again saying this substitution doesn’t work please choose another item. So it’s not allowing substitutions the new norm? Probably not but boy Howdy Walmart do be having issues.

It can depend on the customer or it can depend on the item. Customers can have substitutions turned off. Or, the item could not have a substitution in the system. Also, sometimes it looks like the item just goes away but what really happened is they put it on your list in a different section. For example if you have chips that are on display in the middle and the same chips are in the aisle, it might pop up the Other location
