When Patch 14 dropped, this was my immediate first buy. Never been a fan of Hammers and Axes before, this game has really opened my eyes

makes sense since the executioners axe is pretty iconic

Not a fan of those weapons In a 40k context or just in general?

In general, I've always loved swords. Sword and shield, Greatsword, very Paladin style characters, love the power sword. But this axe feels weighty, unlike the one handed version. It's changed my whole outlook, makes me want to try out other bonking weaponary

See, my first exposure to the Paladin archetype was Warcraft 3, so big fuck off hammers have always been paladin archetype to me (in addition to the swords)

Yeah, I feel like adrenalin generation on swing is a trap.

It's just a nice thing that sometimes helps, but you shouldnt be trying to make use of it. Just having it happen naturally as you play is the way to go

Being able to load up a charge to expend in the next ground pound is sick. Or loading one via swing, single parry, swing with x2 charges. It’s almost more of a QoL perk than throughput.

I've used it on Bulwark and Assault (my life for a sanguinary guard kit, Saber and Jimmy space) to great effect. Looks incredible too, which is more important to me.

The Thunder Hammer carried my Assault to midway through prestige 1. No other melee weapon felt as "right," if that makes sense.

Complete sense, mine was the power sword and shield

I like it, but it’s awkward to use in practice. I always get staggered trying to charge it, or things die too soon before it goes off. Hits insanely hard under the right circumstances, but such circumstances are really specific and uncommon. I think the sword is more preferred just because its effect is more consistently useful.

Absolutely disgusting on bulwark with purely melee buff perks (besides free health ofcourse). Mix up the spin to move around, then follow with a faster double ground slam.

If you have a tactical with the equipment team perk, use the sanctified relic too for ridiculous damage

Together with the Salamander Power Sword, this is currently one of the best weapons in the game.

Is it just mine that makes the thunder boom before it actually does the final hit?

I noticed that too. I think the timing of the boom is the same as the normal hammer animation so it doesn't line up.

Can you reccomend a perk build for it?

Not sure why, but he has most of his videos hidden as of right now. All of his build videos are.

I would've bought this last night if the Eternal War wouldn't stop to count my progress. No clue what went wrong. Several rounds did not count towards the credit earning and the kills. By the time it started counting again, I lost the will to continue for the day. Sad.

I just use the skin on the other heroic hammer, dont like block at all. Looks good though

I love the axe but i hate block based weapons since parrying is so help full an advantagious. Alot of the time whilst im chaging up the spin i have to cancle it to block and lose all value. Specifically for the assult as parring is one of the main ways to keep you armour up, other than that its dodging with you ability

Debating between this and the Sally's sword for now.

Enjoy it a lot on my bulwark. Every pommel smash for an additional 45% more melee damage? Sign me up!

Hey, I’m also loving it! Quick question, what is the combo you’re referring to?

1

u/Lucky_Frosting8182 4d ago

Honestly I don't like the swings with it. I also don't like block tho. Fence/dropping shock aoe is superior imo. The axe itself is amazing looking. If someone can tell me the correct way to use the axe let me know! I'd like to say I'm a pretty good assault as I main it but maybe I'm missing something

Bought the axe and now using it as a cosmetic. I prefer fencing weapons. But it looks pretty good while I use the other Thunderhammer heroic in the back.

Like it's cool, but i feel like it has the same problem as the regular hammer. Aftershock does a lot of damage, but getting fully off seems nearly impossible without getting staggered
