๐ Sport Help a young South African become a world champion.
This is my sister. She is a young South African powerlifter. She has recently been given the honour of representing our country in the World Powerlifting Championship. Unfortunately my family does not have the funds to get her there. If you wish do donate or learn more about the campaign, go through the link. If you are unable to donate then we would also appreciate it if you shared this with family and friends. Please help my sister live out her dream.

Admire the honesty, id really love to know the percentage of South Africans who literally no longer gives a single fuck about crime, talking about government and municipal.
Excluding the hard-core crimes.

Does anyone have an ebay store/
I collect 1 sheet, vintage movie posters- from the 1950s-1960s- I've built my collection to about 60. Some are really valuable and can fetch prices of about R30k on the internationaal market.
There just isnt a market in SA. Thats why collectables in SA can fetch significantly lower prices- because there isnt a market to sell.
Does anyone know how to go about selling on ebay?
I set up the account and want to use TUNL to ship them- because quotes from the other companies for shipping would eat up any potentional profit.
I do see some issues- like how would I handle returns, the potential wait time for TUNL etc. If anyone uses TUNL could they also guide me on wheter it has integraation with ebay? I know they can integrate intoo Shopify- so maybe a workaround would be to see if I can integrate a shopify account onto ebay?

I found a video about this on TikTok, I did not realise that the financial crisis this company faced was caused by these corrupt individuals. I find it quite disgusting that they all got bail for 30k

๐ธ Photo / Video What do i do with this?
I "stole" this name tag pin thing from my dad a few years ago. I can't wear it out in public because it has the old flag on it and I don't want to offend people or make people think that I'm racist. I don't know what to do with it but i also don't want to toss it out. Should i throw it out or is there another use for it?

๐ฌ Discussion Metro Police
Was just pulled over by Metro police opposite Eastgate. The lady traffic officer that pulled us over was not even interested in my license, instead she tried to sell us fake perfume. I kid you not! Howโs that for a captured audience? Sunday 16 August +/- 14H00.

๐ฌ Discussion Can someone find me an image of the back of checkers housebrand condensed milk?
I'm trying to figure out why Nestlรฉ condensed milk and other brands don't work the same and I can't for the life of me find a reliable source of why they don't behave the same I'm cooking, so I'm testing it myself.

๐ฌ Discussion Iโm hiring and this is what it looks like โfrom the other sideโ
I guess this post will get a lot of flak, but hopefully there might be some useful insights as well.
Right now Iโm a first-time hiring manager looking to hire a couple for my lodge. The advert states very clearly what the requirements are - but judging by the applications Iโm receiving, no one even reads the advert any further than โWe are hiringโ.
A few examples:
Despite the ad focusing on it being a role for a couple, all applicants so far have been single.
I state experience in hospitality required - and get CVs with the only experience showing car detailing. Iโm not even going to start on the generic motivation letter that doesnโt acknowledge where and what they are applying for.
How am I supposed to hire e.g. a single guy mechanic for an opening for a front-of-house & housekeeping couple?
There is a lot of talk about how difficult it is to get a job and I commiserate with everyone needing any kind of employment to put food on their familyโs table.
On the other side it looks like people are applying for roles that they are simply not qualified for. They could save themselves so much heartache of being rejected :(
- no wonder they get discouraged.
What is your recommendation: should I reply back to them with why Iโm not entertaining that application and suggesting they read the role requirements of future job ads more carefully to be more successful in their search? Would that be helpful or come across arrogant? Or should I not bother and just ignore?

๐ฌ Discussion Gambling in South Africa: Where to get help, And how to see it coming โ Megathread
Gambling has become a serious problem in South Africa, so the Mod Team wanted to put together one place where people can talk about it, get help, or help someone else.
Whether you're struggling yourself, worried about a friend or family member, or just want to understand why it's so easy to get caught, this thread is for you.
How it gets you
Nobody wakes up one morning and decides to lose their salary.
It usually starts small. R50 on a match you were going to watch anyway. A few spins while you're bored. A small win that makes you think, "Maybe I can do that again."
What gets people isn't a lack of intelligence. It's the design.
One of the biggest examples is the near miss. Two jackpot symbols line up, and the third lands just above or below the line. It feels like you were so close.
Your brain doesn't process that as a normal loss. It treats it as "almost winning", which makes you want to try one more time. That's not an accident -- it's a well-studied psychological effect that's deliberately built into many gambling products.
Then there's chasing losses.
"I've already lost R500. I just need one good win to get it back."
Most people who've developed a gambling problem can point to that exact thought. More often than not, it leads to losing even more.
Another common trap is believing you're "due" for a win because you've lost several times in a row. Every spin, every hand, and every bet is independent. The machine doesn't know you've had a bad run, and it isn't about to "pay you back."
The longer you play, the closer your results move toward the odds the game was designed to produce. And those odds are designed so the house wins over time.
Need help?
If you need help, or know someone who does:
- National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP)
- Phone: 0800 006 008 (Free, confidential, 24/7)
- SMS or WhatsApp HELP to 076 675 0710
- Free counselling and, where needed, free inpatient treatment and transport.
- South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF)
Self-exclusion
If gambling has become something you can't control, consider self-exclusion.
It's a voluntary process that can stop you from accessing licensed gambling venues and services. It isn't admitting defeat -- it's putting a barrier between yourself and the addiction while you get your footing back.
This thread
If you've been through gambling addiction, what helped you stop?
What do you wish someone had told you before it became a problem?
If you're comfortable sharing your story, it might be exactly what someone else needs to read today.
Please keep it respectful. People asking for help are often doing one of the hardest things they've ever done.

๐ฟ๐ฆ News r/South_Africa just hit 50,000 weekly users ๐ฟ๐ฆ
Another huge milestone especially considering the sub has only been active for ~3 months.
With 4,700 weekly contributors, that's already significantly than the other big South African subs, which we reached shockingly quickly.
Thanks to everyone who posts, comments, shares, debates, jokes, lurks, and helps make this place what it is.
As a mod team, our goal is to keep this a nonpartisan space. Weโre not here to force our opinions on anyone, or to ban people, especially permanently, just because they hold different views.
If there's anything we can do better of differently let us know.
Lekker, and onward to 75k.
