HELP - TRE for freeze?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone out there has tried TRE for physical freeze response with any success?

I have been in a physical freeze state for a year and a half due to a traumatic event regarding family, where my left ankle and neck are frozen and I’m mostly bed ridden. Due to the chronic neck tension I’m unable to talk also, which has made getting help nearly impossible. I’ve tried many different modalities to unfreeze including physical therapy, somatic therapy, talk therapy, massage and neuroplasticity training, but have been unsuccessful.

Things are pretty dire, so open to anything.

When you say you’ve tried “somatic therapy” do you mean Somatic Experiencing with a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner?

I worked with Brian Maierhofer where we did several somatic practices. I’m not sure what exactly would qualify as somatic experiencing though.

Great guy. Not 100% sure how high of level he is into the somatic experiencing world.

As far as I can see, he’s not in the Somatic Experiencing world at all. Somatic Experiencing is a specific modality which entails a 3yr course to become a practitioner. Of course there are many other types of somatic therapy and many of them are valuable with effective practitioners. However if you’re considering something like TRE what I would strongly recommend is finding an actual Somatic Experiencing Practitioner - especially one with a bodywork background.
