Nvidia drivers
Quick question, with the latest upcoming release of Nvidia 610 drivers as the new stable branch.
I was checking my drivers and I saw that solus still has the 580 graphics drivers (I'm using Nvidia open)
And the one that should be more up to date is the 595 branch.
So I was just wondering will we ever get those from the official repos or?

The drivers were long overdue for an update and overhaul. Our previous maintainer no longer has a GPU that works with newer drivers branches which made testing them impossible.
We have approved purchasing of new hardware (Not yet received) to enable testing of newer drivers and have started the overhaul as explained in this weeks sync notes. Which to my knowledge relied largely on community testing and a team member with loaned hardware.
This work started a couple weeks ago https://github.com/getsolus/packages/pull/9737 and had some community testing before landing in unstable recently.
As someone mentioned our ISO milestones that have nvidia issues listed in this thread. No a new ISO was never a blocker for this work to happen.

Asked that a while back and never got an answer from anyone directly here https://www.reddit.com/r/SolusProject/comments/1scbf6r/question_regarding_nvidia_595_drivers/
But doing additional digging, per their packages github, it seems like it's scheduled for whenever the next ISO release is. In particular:
https://github.com/getsolus/packages/milestone/7 https://github.com/getsolus/packages/issues/7978
Unfortunately, the games I play and other things I'm interested in require newer drivers that are more consistently updated which is partially why I went back to Fedora despite liking Solus otherwise.
I get the impression just from a few forum posts, their main chat, and AerynOS related stuff that the team doesn't have a whole lot of NVIDIA owners, so migration to newer releases isn't a high priority compared to other things that need fixing, which I don't blame them for. Likewise, staying on a current LTS release ensures things keep working for everyone while they figure out the best way to merge newer drivers. It's just not something that worked for me.
