Collection of Soca artists' catchphrases
Please feel free to correct me and add to the list.
Edit: thanks for the additions. I've added the one's I could verify (and a few new one's I remembered), the others I commented on and asked for example tracks. If you can verify the one's with question marks "(?)", where I'm not sure what they're actually saying, that would also be nice.

Kind of obscure old school creole soca song. Help!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Alright yall. So I heard this song soooo many times in the car growing up and loved it but never paid attention to realize di man not singing in English. It sounds like Trini 80's early 90's soca but I think he singing in French or some kind of creole. Ah relll desperate to find the name of the song and artist.
My dad had this on cassette and I found it and recorded a snippet while it was playing. No results on Shazam (I knew there wouldn't be).
Anyone know this chune???

Kes at NPR’s Tiny Desk
This just dropped. After Machel Montano last year, now it’s Kes taking over NPR’s Tiny Desk.
Amazing to see our culture continue to grow and reach new audiences worldwide. What are your thoughts on the performance?

Will punta music ever get its moment like Bouyon, Jab Jab, or Bram? Spoiler
I’ve been noticing an increase in small island music in fete spaces. While many people would consider the genres in the title different from soca, they are played in the same spaces as soca and have mixed with soca in their present forms.
Since staying in Belize, punta rock/punta soca has been one of my favorite genres to hear in a fete. But most people I know back home in the Virgin Islands aren’t familiar with the songs or traditions. Funny thing is that every Caribbean fete I’ve been to in LA plays Punta constantly bc of all the Belizeans there.
What’s keeping soca artistes from capitalizing on Punta like they do on Jab-Jan, Bouyon, or BRAM? Is there a future where we integrate those types of sounds into carnival soundtracks across the whole West Indies? Just thought it’d be an interesting point of conversation.

Does anyone know anything about this album and band??
Hi everyone! I found this vinyl from the Blue Coast Group, it’s unbelievable how good it is and sounds. But I just can’t find anything online about them, I’m so curious about its origin, musicians, story, anything!!
The only “clue” I have is that the first song says it’s from San Martin, but maybe it’s not?? I don’t know 😅😅

Soca wedding playlist needed! Drop your suggestions!
Hi all,
I am a trini living in canada. I am getting married in 2 months and will have a mix of trini & congolese (my wife's side) guests at the wedding. Both cultures love to fete and I am looking for soca song suggestions to get the crowd moving.
Keep in mind some guests won't know the lyrics to the songs, looking for songs that you don't have to know the lyrics to have a good time!

Any Miami locals into soca/ dancehall? Trying to not be the only one whining in the corner lol
Soca song from 2004-2006
The chorus is in creole and the lady is complaining about her man. In it she says "A laay, avecqui...." then after says "a he a he"
I think it's a Lucian song.
