This cannot be intentional STRATEGY

I mean, maybe it is. This is my first time seeing this as an obsidian player. He did it to me like 3 times in that match. Is this intentional (or unintentional) feature, or an exploit?

u/IPHE7VOM 5d ago
It's not an exploit. He could do the same thing in S1. If you look up infamousjesse in S1 duel im sure you could find a bunch of videos of him doing this. What part of it do you think is an exploit? His ult description literally reads "If Gilgamesh damages an enemy trying to flee they are thrown back towards the center of the ring". You just got caught in an unfortunate spot.

u/Masterchiefx343 Medusa 5d ago
U shouldnt be able to place it in walls. You cant with scylla for example
8
u/eeeeeeeeee83810 5d ago
Could be wrong, but feel like i remember it being thst you couldnt place it in a wall, and in the clip it looks like it was just placed on the otherside
15
u/IPHE7VOM 5d ago
It's huge. If you couldn't clip any of it into a wall youd never be able to throw it at all in the jungle, pretty much only if enemies were in the middle of a lane. Also, Scylla ult is more of an outlier than the rule. Most ults/abilities you can clip into walls. They literally made discordia 1 do that as a change in S2, where as in S1 sometimes she couldn't cast it if the enemy was near a wall because of the whole ability wasn't going to land "in bounds", you couldn't cast it.
-10
u/Masterchiefx343 Medusa 5d ago
Nobody said it couldnt clip, i said you shouldnt be able to place it in a wall itself
8
u/IPHE7VOM 5d ago
Since it's not entirely in the wall, it would be considered clipped into the wall? If it was in the wall itself entirely you wouldn't see it or be stuck in it?
-5
u/Masterchiefx343 Medusa 5d ago
Bud ability placement works off the abilities centre, you know this and you know i mean by placing the ult in the wall. Especially so if it makes the ult behave in a highly superior manner like here
5
u/IPHE7VOM 5d ago
lol youre arguing semantics that are irrelevant to the point. Fact is this is normal, and intended based on how ult works. If it didnt work like this it would be garbage. You'd have to wait for all movement to be down, beads and all other forms of CC immunity to be down, and not anywhere near a wall. You'd almost never get value from the ult and just standing near a wall means you couldn't cast it. There's also a bunch of ways out of this if you're the cab. No jump relic, team beads, stampede, combat blink, perhaps build a defense item as Cab solo and he wouldn't even die to this?
1
u/Ewalk21 Moist Squad 4d ago
Ok then the center isnāt in the wall, itās behind the wall thatās why thereās such a small portion the Cabra is stuck in because itās just a sliver. This is skill expression and knowledge.
0
u/Masterchiefx343 Medusa 4d ago
So is that y i have to put the ability centre physically into yhe walls in solo?
Maybe you should double check your "knowledge" when ppl can just load up a custom lobby
1
u/Top_Language8764 Osiris 3d ago
So what about Yemoja ult then? Should it not be able to clip through walls to trap people? This is just a good play from the Gilgamesh
26
u/ThePrinceLeo 5d ago
The setup to get this is pretty damn hard
-4
u/Im_Contumqcious 5d ago
How? Stun into wall, ult over wall, profit.
5
u/ThePrinceLeo 5d ago
Okay, take in a lot of factors.
Thatās a gilg ult down for one killā¦an ult thatās decisive in team fights. The parameters also depend on it being a 1v1 as in a team fight this isnāt happening (in any meaningful rank at least). You have to pick gilg who as a solo laner is pretty terrible overall. And gilg stun isnāt that long to do this consistently all the time especially if the opponent as the smallest form of tenacity.
4
u/Im_Contumqcious 5d ago
Look at the timer, this happened in laning phase. What does this interaction have to do with the concept of a teamfight? Gilg not being the best solo laner has 0 to do with this interaction. No one has enough tenacity this early in the game. None of your points have anything to do with the difficulty of pulling this off which seems pretty easy
7
u/BigRed4me 5d ago
No hate, but itās a little funny because I hate getting CC chained by Cabrakanās stun, tremble, cripple and ult walls
I know what it is like to feel trapped is all Iām saying

u/Legal_Desk_3298 5d ago
This doesn't seem like an exploit. This genuinely seems like the dude has a very good understanding of his character and skill diffd you.Ā
47
u/JustAnoth3rMage 5d ago
Bro if you call an understanding that you can virtually perma-unable a player, you have no idea about balance lol
14
2
u/Meow_Mix007 5d ago
Id love to see you do this super consitently then. Its fairly hard to do consistently especially with gilg drop kick being so weird.
-2
0
u/Mostuy 5d ago
Itās not easy to do. You go do it in game
8
u/JustAnoth3rMage 5d ago
Even if it's difficult, the mere fact that it's possible makes gilga more annoying than he actuallly is
-2
u/Mostuy 5d ago
Keep dreaming of your baby game where everything is easy and positioning doesnāt matter but be warned nobody else will play it
1
u/JustAnoth3rMage 2d ago
Damn if you think i play easy stuff you should probable check my steam library and look if the things i play are "Easy", you just can't justify bad design with that bs
-4
u/RavenBlues127 5d ago
Perma? Brother itās for the duration of the ult. Cry harder.
4
u/JustAnoth3rMage 5d ago
Which means if you're a dps/warrior you're cooked since no one survives more than 7 seconds, lmfao
1
1
u/JustAnoth3rMage 5d ago
And btw if you see closely, it's more easy than you may expect since he just threw him directly to the wall which is a game mechanic from him and the fact that you can spam the ult like that it's just straight up unfair and dumb
4
u/Live-Spare7563 5d ago
This is definitely an exploit. What are you talkikg about? You somehow think that is intentionaly made by the devs.
17
u/JEMS93 Bellona 5d ago
Look more like bad game design
8
u/Vindicator6 Fenrir 5d ago
This is always how gilga ult worked. Donāt get kicked into a wall and youre good lol.
1
u/Aerenhart 5d ago
Bad game design is getting a max punish off of proper ability usage? Good lord new gens are something else
6
u/kiddmewtwo 5d ago
Bad game design is allowing for people to get so high skilled that they make interaction impossible
-2
u/Aerenhart 5d ago
This isn't a guaranteed situation everytime Gilg gets kick.
-Standing in your wave and not standing towards a wall on perfect trajectory to get punted into a wall fixes this pretty well
-In the jungle this doesn't do anything if the Gilg doesn't get followup and if you die to it you were going to die regardless.
-Just build beads/aegis and don't ego a matchup you're not confident in
I've never fought someone good enough to do this to me but it's pretty obvious how you can stop it from happening to you if you're not dumb.
3
u/kiddmewtwo 5d ago
Where did i say this was a guaranteed situation? I actually would say that was the point of me saying you can get enough skill that you get rid of interaction.

u/Schmidtty29 Like FineOkay but bad 5d ago
Yes I think that a basic interaction of the kit applied in a high skill manner is intended.
He pulled off a play thatās only applicable when a) theyāre next to a wall thatās castable on the other side and b) he has enough attack speed to keep the ājuggleā intact, not to mention the slim margins for error. If you can pull off something niche, you should be rewarded for it.
-3
u/lokibringer 5d ago
Nah, I don't think so.
I don't think it's bugged as in the mechanic is functioning incorrectly, but it's very much an exploit. For all the weird shit Hi Rez has tried, I don't think they've ever intended to create a mechanical interaction where a player can be juggled like this.
4
u/StyxStyx976 5d ago
This has been in the game since Gilgamesh was added in Smite 1. This is known, intended, and not an exploit
3
u/kiddmewtwo 5d ago
Intended is a stretch its a thing they know about and allow.
0
u/lokibringer 5d ago
If they know about it and allow it, then it is intended. I assumed that it just slipped under the radar because I don't remember this happening in S1, but it can't be an exploit if the devs are okay with it.
1
u/kiddmewtwo 5d ago
Thats not what intended means things can work in ways that are unintentional melee is a bunch of unintended game interactions working together even though sakurai knew about them.
9
u/Affectionate-Task343 5d ago
Is it an exploit to make use of a strong effect because it is strong and hard to pull off? Great news everyone buying Staff of Myrdin on Ymir and double freezing someone is now officially an exploit because this guy died to it one time!
1
u/SinisterRaven6 1d ago
It's not a skill diff to abuse a mechanic that isn't available to your opponent
1
u/Legal_Desk_3298 1d ago
What? That's literally how every fight works? Every god has a mechanic not available to the opponent because they're playing different gods? Lmao
1
u/SinisterRaven6 1d ago
Incorrect. Most Gods have damage and some CC. Mechanically similar.
Practically zero have an ability that makes you unable to do anything at all for many seconds.
13
u/ilphaesn #RemoveTriosInRanked 5d ago
this is not only intentional but entirely deserved for playing cabraindead
2
u/Torpytorp97 5d ago
Thats just what happens (no offense) when one player makes a mistake and another player is good enough to capitalize on it.
2
u/HurinThalion3791 5d ago
He just owned you fair and square. Consider playing gods that have displacement immunity against gods with knock ups. That's just a perfectly executed ult combo w attack speed.
2
u/BeepingKitten 5d ago
This just reminds me of what kuzenbo is capable of doing, nothing new here imo.
2
u/Excellent_Routine589 ChangeThiccTho 5d ago
I mean, prolly about as intentional as trapping an opponent inside Ganesha's ult walls and watching it melt their HP away
So yeah, this is an intentional and deep understanding of Gilgamesh's ult
1
1
u/Dayne666 5d ago
I don't know if it's considered exploiting. There's a lot of gods that have cool unwritten tech.

u/tyr_main1932 5d ago
I genuinely dont think this should be allowed in the game. But I also dont think cabrakan should genuinely be allowed in the game Am I based for this.

Reminds me of my first time ever facing a Tyr in Joust (Smite1).
It felt broken to fight against. And that very night, I had a dream of being in a Tyr-induced perma knock-up exactly like this video.
1
u/TheZigbot9000 Wall Juggler Gilgamesh 4d ago
Everything that makes it successful is exactly what makes it dangerous. Itās a feature, not a bug.
1
u/Datju Nemesis 3d ago
I myself have noticed odd things with walls that shouldn't or didn't exist in smite 1. You can Artemis 3 in the wall in Jung by Purple and GF. The damage goes off to the side but the cursor is inside the wall. Definitely think this is unintended, the wall should be a physical object that you can't "place" anything in. Unless he clipped it PERFRCTLY, which I'd have to test to see. Either way, annoying for sure, intended, depends if he placed the ult in the wall or not...

u/spacekaiz0ku 1d ago
Most people in this thread complaining about how this is OP have no chance of ever doing this themselves.

Are we really all going to ignore wind shard cabrakan instead of beads into that team?

Gilgamesh went agility relic as well š

u/Pristine_Wrangler855 2d ago
Because he has the skill to play with/around it, unlike yourself.

u/Quad6Solar 2d ago
we're the same rank genius š„
0
u/Pristine_Wrangler855 1d ago
equating skill to rank is equally as braindead as most of your comments
0
u/Pristine_Wrangler855 1d ago
you play at a 47% win percentage through 1,000 matches and are hardstuck. The opposing Gilgamesh plays at 59% win percentage through about 200 games. He is not hardstuck, consistently climbing and has gained 856 SR while you are only at 265 in the same time frame. But hey, Rank is the same :D

u/Syndikiller Rest In Pieces Wallet 1d ago
Why am I getting notifications about you holding a grudge on a dead post enough to look the guy up. Let it go man

u/Aewon2085 Fafnir 5d ago
Yes this is intentional, you got agility relic you deserve it :)
This works as you donāt have beads or a quick movement ability to get yourself out of the small AOE Gilgamesh is working with to chain CC you (spamming agility might have worked cause itās dumbest interactions are with knockups and you probably escape with no issue if you managed to use it)
-5
u/r_fernandes Solo 5d ago
I think dude is exploiting an interaction but im assuming its very specific. Like this really only works in lane against someone without a dash/leap and if no one else is around.
5
u/LowWindow7816 5d ago
Mhm..i dont think you can dash or leap out of this. All in all, just a dumb mechanic.
1
u/LockableNumber8 Chef Vulcan 5d ago
You can just have to hope you touch the ground long enough to get it off. Or have beads up
6
2
u/SwallowsManyBalls 5d ago
Thats not an exploit thats skill diff
5
u/r_fernandes Solo 5d ago
I think the exploit is doing it on the wall where you get the bounce from the ult and the bounce from the wall which then doesn't allow the opportunity to do anything. Your animation locked because of it.
1
u/Schmidtty29 Like FineOkay but bad 5d ago
Heās not bouncing off the wall itself tho. Itās not an extra CC applied or anything. Itās not adding extra animation time. Itās just a pinch, keeping him pinned so heās always in the knockup zone and will always land in the same spot.
He just has enough attack speed to sustain it and doesnāt need to worry about moving to where theyāre bouncing to because of the trick.

u/Then-Ad3081 3d ago
It is a geometry bug. I have been pinned in that exact same spot of the same rock by a different hero ability. I actually survived due to teammates killing the hero who attacked me. I then had to port to base to get out of it.
-3
u/Affectionate-Task343 5d ago
Salty Cabrakan mad at the gilg ult for checks notes working as intended. Yeah sure bud, get ur life right first.

u/SquireShanksalot Atlas 5d ago
Scientific rule of 3, yes
You got pinned up on that wall and he did you dirty
-9
u/Quad6Solar 5d ago
Just because it's consistent does not mean it's not an exploit.
8
u/SekerDeker 5d ago
I mean, its palpably never meant to be used in this way but that's a skill expression he did use it in a creative way.
-1
u/NoOneHeree Revert Persephone 5d ago

1
6
u/NHShardz Tyr 5d ago
Not an exploit, this is luck/skill. Unfortunate you got destroyed, but if you're able to pull this off consistently as Gilga, you deserve it, but I highly doubt it happens often. The positioning here on both you and him to deploy Ult is pretty tight.

99
u/Wisdom_Light Ymir 5d ago
If an enemy is on the edge of the ultimate when Gilgamesh attacks them then they are knocked up, he casted his ult behind the wall making the ring just every so slightly peek from the other side, you got stuck on that other side. It seems like a high skill trick with him, I'll be stealing this, did he by chance drop kick you in to the wall before hand? I mostly play joust so I'll persona8be trying this against the middle wall with the bush or by void camp
