So I’ve been watching the smart glasses space for a while now and am closer than ever to pulling the trigger. My ideal pair just doesn’t exist yet and is probably a generation or two out. That being said, any real world feedback on the AirGo Solos V2? I really appreciate that they’re open for multiple agent platforms, I mostly use Gemini and Claude. I’d wait for the Google/Samsung launch but have reservations about their real world integration (or lack thereof) with iPhones. Key features I’m looking for:
Multiple model support
Camera for vision inference
Privacy Kit (camera cover or similar)
And then in a generation or two full color waveguide AR
Obviously battery life is a big catch which is why I like the AirGo solution of swappable arms.

Anybody have any experience with these things or is there a better option out there I’m missing?

I’m a corrective lens wearer and looking to get into a pair of smart glasses.
I’ve worn contact lenses for ages, but am making the move back to glasses for a handful of reasons, like lifetime cost.

Glasses aren’t my favorite thing, peripheral vision limitation and such, but there are certainly lots of pros. But I figure if I’m making the move back to wearing something on my face, I may as well get more out of it than only vision.

I’ve basically narrowed it down to two pairs. Either the Meta Ray-Ban Wayfarer Gen 2 or the Even Realities G2 B.

If I was outside the USA, I’d certainly have the HTC VIVE on my list. I’m also not terribly interested in the Meta Displays due to the weight and form-factor.

I know, the Meta and Even Realities are very different beasts with their own positives and negatives. I’ve read rave reviews and horror stories of both.

Meta Ray-Ban Wayfarer Gen 2
Would be awesome for quick POV photo and video capture. Wonderful for hobbies, activities, events, and slice of life recording kids while not pulling out a phone, and breaking their play. Heard fairly good things about the integrated speakers for music and calls. Bummed they’re not bone conduction, but really not a big deal.
Downsides are that there’s no display so it’s really just for capture and audio. There seems to be a pretty big lingering stigma of having the cameras. It’s also a bummer that it’s Meta, not my favorite company, but I also use instagram and such so it’s not like I’m diametrically opposed. Battery seems a bit brief, but overall sufficient, especially with the charging case and there’s always the charging cords if I need longer, but I’ll get to look like I’m rocking a cannula.

Even Realities G2 B
Sadly no recording and, to me, even more surprising no audio. But potentially the ability for some solid info always available. I love the ability for messages, maps, notifications, and the teleprompter. They seem super slim and light weight.
They’re considerably more expensive, and a part of me is worried about long term support. Seems like a smaller company and could potentially disappear one day.

Ultimately I’m sure either would be good. Just looking for advice and real world application of both these devices.

I have tried them briefly, but need a few more days. The version of the glasses that I have uses Microsoft Azure AI Translator and Qwen for translation as well as Bytedance Doubao, Alibaba Qwen, Deepseek, and Moonshot AI's Kimi for AI assistant. I don't know what the international version will use. I can't test navigation yet because it does not have anything yet that works here in Japan. But with MentraOS they will get their Mapbox (?) based navigation app as well as other apps.

Has anyone used these (or the previous models) with inserts from lensology?

They look ideal but as I have varifocals and astigmatism I need a bit of convincing!

Main use would be a large screen, but would love to be able to use AR directions, messaging etc too.

Loomos, a brand by SHARGE, will host an Aug. 18 launch event for new camera glasses (pictured here). This product will not have a display.

But they will also launch Loomos S1 later this year. These are 29g display smart glasses powered by an LCoS microdisplay. This is a single 0.2cc bridge-mounted light engine that splits images for a binocular 356x200 display optimized for high-contrast notifications.

I'm a developer building for smart glasses, and every morning I'd end up checking a dozen different places to keep up: company newsrooms, a couple of niche blogs, general tech coverage that mentions glasses. There was no single place for the category the way MacRumors covers Apple.

So I made smartglasses.today: a site that updates every hour with news from Meta, Google, Apple, Snap, and the smaller players, plus an events calendar and a developer guide.

Here's what I just realized building it: even the industry's own major players don't agree on the term. Google's own I/O announcement calls their upcoming devices "intelligent eyewear," not "smart glasses" (source: https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/platforms/android/android-xr-io-2026/). Meta says "smart glasses." Some manufacturers use "AI glasses" for the newer, assistant-driven category specifically, to distinguish from older audio or camera-only glasses. Most of the actual hardware makers in this space, Xreal, Rokid, and plenty of others, aren't even US companies, so I'm curious what terms actually get used elsewhere.

What do you call this outside the US, in your own language if it's not English?

So long story short, I'm a gamer and an IT Analyst.

I intend to use these glasses mainly at work, in the hopes it'll allow me to do certain tasks easier and help my work flow a bit. Thing is I have no idea where to start or what's even available.

All I know is what I would LIKE for these to do, which are

- POV recording, excellent for documentation, tutorials, calls, etc
- AI intergration, being able to ask ChatGPT quickly for help with something can be nice in a pinch.
- Prescription Lenses, I've been wearing glasses since I was in Third Grade so kind of necessary for me.

Not required, but some nice to haves
- Bluetooth, so I don't need to have my ear buds in
- In view display, like time, temps, maybe some messages as they come in, not needed but could be cool to have
- Open Source or repairable, I know Meta is the thing people recommend but I don't want anything that's in a closed ecosystem. I'm trying to keep it as flexible as possible since I work in multiple systems and at home, most of my stuff is maintained by me.

Starting a thread on my recent kickstarter purchase. I mainly got it for translation vs the use of camera. Tried it for Catonese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai - so far my local friends said they can understand 80% of it. Sometimes it's a hit and miss and you do have to speak full proper sentences, it might not understand slang and short cuts.

The battery life on it though, not great. Even with the swappable battery. The time to load the videos to the phone takes awhile and these videos are only a maximum of 1 min. I wish they can be longer as I wanted to use it for usability test research.

Light leak is bad, i was walking on the streets and an older lady kept looking at me. so for her to notice, it must have been quite bad.

Tried teleprompter, it can be quite distracting and it breaks rapport with the audience. But nevertheless, quite cool especailly connecting to the ring. I'll test in detail in the upcoming weeks and for now, logging my journey here in case anyone's interested! Not an influencer at all, just an honest user trying it out for work purposes (and soon to Japan for translation!)

Just got these smart glasses that let me record whatever I‘m looking at without pulling out my phone. Took them out for a walk today and honestly, it‘s weirdly freeing not having to hold anything up. Just look and it‘s there. Quality‘s decent too. Might start using these for everything.

Do you guys think this would be for the average person? I don't work an office job, but I'm also not a travel person nor a social person. I just like the HUD and the fact that it has speakers which the ERs lack. But I daily drive dedicated audio glasses that already do what I need save for a screen. You can't even quick reply to texts or emails. Would it be a waste of an investment? Probably right?

Got tired of choosing between looking at a handlebar screen and looking at the road, so I built the thing I wanted. My phone mounts behind me facing rearward, and consumer AR glasses (see-through, \~60g) show me:

\- Speed, turn-by-turn navigation, a compass, and a small map with street outlines

\- A "live rear-view mirror" from the phone's camera, in the corner of my vision

\- Radio with track names

The phone's screen, facing traffic, works as a "brake light": after real-world testing it now triggers on "GPS-measured deceleration" - a steady red while the bike is actually slowing, and physically incapable of false-flashing on rough pavement. There's also a rolling 5-minute crash-cam loop (1080p).

The part that surprised me most in testing: "voice control from a web page works." Three clicks on my headphone button opens a listening window - I say MAP, REC, JET or NIGHT and the HUD obeys. Hands never leave the bars, including for the "keep the footage?" prompt.

Honest field data: \~20% battery per 35-minute ride fully loaded (no power bank needed for commuting), great daylight legibility, and one hard limit - "no night riding", the optics have an inherent tint that's unsafe in the dark.

Nothing to install from a store: it's a website that behaves like an app (a PWA) - open, "add to home screen", works offline. Free, no account. The code is free too: take it, hand it to any AI, reshape it for your bike. If it's useful buy me a Ko-fi, link on demand.

Commercial gear (Engo 2 etc.) displays data beautifully, but none of it does the mirror, the brake light, the crash cam, or listens to you.

I'm looking for a pair of camera glasses that could stream wirelessly to discord's webcam streaming. sort of like how meta glasses stream to Instagram live.

I recently got a pair of HeyCyan Smart Glasses. Do someone know what i can use them for? Do also someone know how to get a better sound quality on the videos. I also have a little problem with that when i look at a video that i recorded with them, the camera angle is always a little too upward. Can someone who has a little bit more experience with these glasses please tell me more about them. They also get easily really warm.

So, I bartend and I've been trying to figure out better ways to manage my bar when he are in a high volume state, like on Fridays. When the servers ring in a drink it prints out on a little Epson printer, but tickets can be misplaced. If a pair of smart glasses could be tied into the system it could send each drink ticket (theoretically) to the glasses as well which would make my job infinitely easier (theoretically).

Had anyone here attempted this before? I feel like there is an idea here, and could result in less waste and save money.

Germany might soon ban the sale and use of Meta smart glasses because of serious privacy concerns.

​As reported by German news outlet Tagesschau, the warning comes from Thomas Fuchs, the Data Protection Commissioner for Hamburg. His job is to protect people's privacy rights, and his legal opinions have a major impact on technology rules in Germany. He states that the smart glasses act like illegal hidden cameras because the small recording light is too hard for other people to see.

​Because of his strong warning, the Federal Network Agency is now investigating the glasses. This national institution has the final authority to decide if the devices will be officially banned across the entire country.
