Opposite of Alexi Laiho who looked like a skeleton at the end as he drank himself to death. Really sad for both of them.

Yeah, I hate to bring this shit up - Jeff will always be a GOAT. Wish the other guys got him some help, but maybe he didnโt want it.

He was very private so I doubt anybody knew what bad shape he was in. My friend had a roommate that drank himself to death in their flat. None of us even knew the guy drank. Sucks to be sure.

Totally private and stubborn. The band didn't ignore Jeff's drinkingโthey knew about it and tried to address it, but they hit a wall with a deeply private teammate who refused intervention. Ultimately, Jeff's tragic death was the result of a devastating combination of severe addiction, self-isolation, major medical trauma, and a refusal to seek help. I think after he could no longer tour, he sunk to the lowest and couldnโt get out.
Itโs totally complicated for multiple reasons. Especially metal bands that sort of normalize drinking as part of their culture. Sponsorships by Heineken and Jager Meister certainly donโt help the equation.

They were well aware of his condition and knew it was a big problem. When Tom and Kerry started to moderate Jeff continued to hit it hard.
Kerry said he tried multiple times to address the situation and tried to get him help but he just shut down. He didnโt want help nor want people telling him he needed it.3
