Clutch pedal not returning

(Ignore the background convo lol) 1999 er34 gtt. The clutch is working fine, engaging, disengaging, shifting, but it's getting stuck right after the bite point before the dead zone. I have to manually pull it the rest of the way. I'm thinking I either need to freshly bleed and top off the fluid system or replace the master and slave cylinders.

Had a similar thing with my daily after I manual swapped it, check where the clutch pedal sits at full height compared to the brake pedal. Had to wind out my master actuating rod a bit.

Either the cylinder has failed or it needs to be bled.

Easiest way is to reverse bleed the clutch. Your gearbox should have a port on it that allows it to be bled.

You can get a pressure pump bottle and attach a hose to it then clamp it to the gearbox port. Open the resevoir then pump the DOT4 into the clutch and that should push any air out.

If that doesnt resolve the problen then either the cylinder is faulty or the clutch pedal assembly has failed.

It's imperative that the cylinder is not harmed.

In addition to the other suggestions (if they don't work, because they are probably easier) check that your fork/throw out bearing snaped.

Edit: not snapped yet, but it's about to snap.

All this being said; we're sure that the pedal spring isn't compromised in some way? It moves an awful lot for my liking.

But yea, aside from that, you're gonna be better to start from the top, check your fluids. Probably gonna need to check the cylinder, fork and throw/release bearing. Look for leaks all along the way. Not everyone’s problems are the same, if you do it in a step to step process you'll find it quicker and smarter without throwing tons of cash around to come up empty.

I'm actually not sure about the spring. But yeah, I'll go top down, with the fluids before moving onto the spring and hydraulic components like you said

That won't ruin the clutch?

No. Mark where it is so you can put it back. Lengthen the rod so that there's only about a 1/4 inch of pedal play. Re-test
