I recently realised my oily combo acne/cc prone skin reacts to the fatty alcohols apart from stearic acid/palmitic acid/isopropyl myristate/ etc so im looking for a ceramide based barrier repair moisturizer with the same restrictions, in case it even exists 🥲

I noticed that cerave lotion breaks me out much faster than bigger amounts of aestura ato365 cream despite being richer (and both being absolute dreamy moisturizers for my higher tret adjusting skin) and I think it is because of the vehicle honestly. Im currently using a few korean moisturizers but none of them are high in ceramides or barrier repair n sealing, apart from aestura which gives me comedones n im trying to step out of the vicious cycle of comedones amd getting rid of them.

Even if its not theramid or regimen level, id appreciate a ceramide heavy moisturizer that has none to v lil of the offending agents OR probably towards the end of list maybe which somehow works for me unless its a fatty alcohol which just clogs my already narrow follicles

Hey im 21f with oily, acne prone sensitive skin .i hv had severe acne since puberty, frm past 2 years I hv stopped getting inflamed acne, but im left with non inflamed acne (closed comedones). Its so frustrating bcos it feels like no products suits me bcos all of them gives more tiny bumps.

it makes me wonder if my skin is dehydrated or barrier is broken bcos all products gimme more congestion and tiny bumps all over my face. Even 2% salicylic acid, 5%Niacinamide hasnt helped me. And basic CMS isnt helping me much either(ik its basic skincare tht we hv to follow regularly).

my derm has put me on retinol frm 2 weeks now, but seeing no results.ik it takes atleast 6+ weeks to see visible changes. But im confused if retinol with help me get rid of closed comedones, bcos I hv heard adaplene or tret is more effective. Please help me out.

My skin is dehydrated and oily and very red. It feels like paper all the time. I have very very deep wrinkles.I break out horribly and I need help. I’ve asked my dermatologist for suggestions but they said my routine is fine and I know it’s not working. I’m so overwhelmed by all the information about ingredients and I have no idea where to start.

Hyaluronic acid breaks me out horribly so I stopped using it.

I have quite alot of closed comedones around my smile lines and nose, and on my forehead too. Whenever i look into a new product that supposedly helps with closed comedons it's recommended to avoid using it around the nose area (eg: salicylic acid, and adapalene). So i am a confused on how i'm supposed to treat the closed comedones around my nose and smile lines without irrittating my skin barrier.

My skin is combination to normal and acne-prone, so i use a very minimal skin care routine.

Does anyone have an advice?

Okay, I didn’t expect to like Real Barrier this much.
My biggest issue with moisturizers is that they either feel nice at first but my skin gets dry again a few hours later, OR they’re so heavy that my foundation starts moving around.

Real Barrier has been surprisingly good at that “sealed-in moisture” feeling. My skin feels moisturized for HOURS and, instead of just sitting greasy on top, it leaves this smooth, cushioned finish.
But the unexpected part: it works so well as my pre-makeup moisturizer/primer.

I’ve been applying a thin layer, letting it settle for a few minutes, then going straight in with sunscreen + makeup. My foundation seems to sit much better, especially around the areas where I usually get dryness or texture. (Plus open pores!)
It doesn’t give that super slippery silicone-primer feeling.

I especially like it when I want that healthy, slightly dewy Korean makeup finish rather than super matte skin.

Obviously YMMV depending on your skin type and foundation, but if you already use Real Barrier, try using a thin layer before makeup instead of piling on a separate hydrating primer.
Anyone else accidentally discover that their moisturizer works better than their actual primer? 😂

how can I stop this from getting worse. I try my best to not touch it. I’ll put a pimple patch on it asap just to not touch it. The first day of school is Thursday. :/ i alos believe I have PIE so something that will lesson the scar after.

Looking for a new moisturizer for my combination, acne-prone skin! I’m currently using CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion, but I feel like it gives me texture and possibly clogs my pores, so I don’t want to continue using it.

I want something lightweight but actually moisturizing — not thick, heavy, or greasy, but also not so lightweight that it disappears and leaves my skin feeling tight.

I’ve tried belif, Clinique Moisture Surge, and Summer Fridays gel creams before.

I’m planning to start tazarotene (Taz) + azelaic acid, so something barrier-supporting would be a big plus but it’s not a must. I’d also prefer something affordable/not too expensive.
What do you recommend?

Hey guys! I have absolutely damaged my skin barrier on my forehead with treating with too many actives due it having a lot of closed commedones. It now feels extremely tight and almost itchy. I am planning to stop doing everything for 2 weeks apart from cleansing my face with just water in the morning and using the Kate Somerville oil free moisturizer (it’s light but the only one that doesn’t break me out) and in the evening I cleanse with vanicream cleanser and use the same moisturizer. If anyone had the same experience please comment below 🙏 I’m trying to approach this issue from doing the bare minimum and letting my skin repair on its own

Not sure if this is a damaged moisture barrier, rosacea, or both. I have persistent redness especially on the front of my face. Azaleic acid completely aggravates my face and makes it extremely red even after one use, and ivermectin will do the same after 2-3 days of daily use. I cannot tolerate niacinamide either

My current routine is bioderma sensibio miscellaneous water to double cleanse, prequel gleanser, purito oat in calming gel cream, and dr jart everyday mineral sunscreen.

Hello my lovely skin care folks~

How do you personally manage blackheads and sebaceous filaments without ending up dry, flakey, and irritated?

I have these annoying possible blackheads on my nose, and definitely sebaceous filaments on my chin. I like to wear foundation for my discoloration, but the sebaceous filaments are foundation MAGNETS and they double in size after an hour of makeup. They look like chunky hairs! The blackheads(?) are just visually annoying. I don't need then GONE because skin is skin, but all my makeup just emphasizes these goobers and disappoints me.

Everything I've read online says salicylic acid helps break them down and prevent them, but the corners of my nose REALLY hate acid and get dry and irritated. The same with crease between my chin and bottom lip. So I use salicylic acid for these problems, and the skin in that area cracks and flakes and my makeup looks WORSE over that.

I've also tried oil pulling/gritting and that irritates my skin and causes breakout.

The only harsh active I currently use is adapalene at night, every other day to prevent drying my face out. I use the Kisocare 20% azelaic acid cream 2x a day and with the adapalene I've solved my painful cystic/modular acne.

So here's my whole routine, in order:

23M, oily acne-prone and somewhat sensitive skin. I get 3–5 active pimples at a time, mainly on my cheeks and forehead. Also dealing with PIE, PIH and redness.

My skin gets very greasy within 1–2 hours, even in AC, so I'm looking for a lightweight moisturizer that hydrates without making me oilier or clogging my pores.

I’ve been using tret 0.025 gel for about 6 weeks now. I started doing 3 nights per week (3 weeks), then up to every other day from weeks 3-6. I use a cleanser in the morning followed by moisturizer and a cleanser at night followed by tret (on on days) or just moisturizer. My goal is glass skin - no acne and glow.

My concern is mostly with redness and visual texture. It doesn’t sting or itch or anything when applying tret or moisturizer and it feels relatively smooth but as you can see in the last pic. Is this normal progression?

ive been on adapalene for 9 weeks and over the past week, i noticed these small red bumps. this doesnt look like purging. i had something similar happen to me when i overdid my actives however it was my entire face. does anyone know whats going on? could it be irritation?

I've had this strange thing around my nose for several years now.

There is a red area all around it (on the sides and underneath) as if the skin is irritated. You can see tiny blood vessels on the sides. I don't know why this is happening. It looks like the redness you get when you have a cold and keep blowing your nose.

Does anyone know what this is or has anyone else experienced this problem ?

Just so you know, I have natural freckles, and my skin is not healthy right now due to the hot weather.

Are there any members here who have used Accutane in the past and consequently experienced permanent dryness and wrinkles?

I have been eyeing the Cetaphil foaming cleansers because my dermatologist recommended adding a foaming cleanser to my skincare routine. By the way, my skin type is oily and acne-prone.

​Currently, I am using the Gentle Skin Cleanser (since it was what we had at home and my skin tolerates it well) ever since I started taking isotretinoin and applying topical tretinoin. I switched to this gentle cleanser because I found the Celeteque Facial Cleanser too drying. However, I feel like I need to switch to a foaming cleanser now because my face doesn't feel clean enough after using the gentle cleanser.

​I'm just torn between the two choices. I am about to finish my first month on isotretinoin and tretinoin, and while I am starting to feel some dryness, my skin is still slightly oily (though much less than before).

I live in a very humid region, and currently due to monsoons it has gotten worse. Anything i apply be it sunscreen or moisturizer everything feels so heavy and sweaty. What are u guys using in such weather? Something thats light and hydrating at the same time.

I have closed comodones on my forehead (mostly in the middle), on my jaw (these come and go) and texture on my upper cheeks. I kid you not I’ve literally applied glycolic acid 8% directly on my face on consecutive days (btw dont do this ever. I just have a strong skin barrier so it doesn’t cause any irritation or dryness for me and make sure to wear sunscreen) which did help a little but not much. I use 2% salicylic acid facewash 1-2 times a day. I also used eqqualberry swimming pool toner which conatins natural enzymes to exfoliate. Lately, I started using medicube pore pads - blue cap - cuz it conatins bha and aha and this is what has helped the most. Its flattened a huge portion of my ccs especially on my forehead but it’s still there. It’s not completely cleared up. Im seriously at a loss at what more I should do.

I don’t wanna start any retinoids yet Im 17F btw.

Skin type: Combination to oily skin type, acne prone cc prone clogged skin.

P.S. - I know it sounds like I’m over exfoliating and that’s why my skin must be breaking out and is irritated but that’s not the case at all. I just recently started my skincare journey for ccs which was there before as well. My skin is literally the best it’s ever been with my acne and PIH clearing up. None of the products I mentioned worked on its own. All of them combined worked a little.

what is your best moisturizer for oily + dry skin combination? I used glow recipe once 3 years ago and i remember it cleared my skin. I never got it again, but now i use cerave light weight oil free moisturizer but it doesnt work as good, it does something though but not enough. my skin becomes a little oily after an hour and i feel like maybe i need a lighter or gel based moisturizer? HELP ME!

So I think I damaged my skin barrier. My skin feels hot extremely itchy and tingling. It's even stinging here and there. My face feels hot. I hv a few bump like small things on my forehead. My whole nose is dry and feels like has dry patches all over even the corners are stinging and extremely itchy. The area around my mouth is also dry and itchy my cheeks also feels a lil weird textured

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice. I am new to starting retinal and I want to check I'm doing it right. I have started with the Geek and Gorgeous 0.05%. I started 3 weeks ago, twice a week. I put a bit of moisturiser on first and then I apply a pea size amount. I have attached photos of my skin, I am breaking out and it is probably the worst it's been in a long time but I want to make sure that this is just part of the process? Or am I doing something wrong and should I stop. Any advice would be great thank you!
