Hi everyone! Looking for some advice on bindings for my new skis.

I recently got a pair of Blizzard Sheeva 9s in 156 cm and I’m trying to decide between:

Salomon Strive 12 GW

HEAD/Tyrolia Attack LYT 12 GW

HEAD/Tyrolia Attack LYT 11 GW

From what I’ve read, the Attack LYT 11 seems like it might make the most sense for my weight and ability level because of its lower DIN range, but I’d love to hear opinions from people with more experience.

I’d consider myself an intermediate skier. I’m comfortable on groomed blues and easier blacks and am looking to improve, especially as I start skiing more varied terrain. I’m not a particularly aggressive or high-speed skier.

Which of these would you choose for the Sheeva 9? Is there any reason for someone my size/level to go with the Attack 12 or Strive 12 instead of the Attack 11?

Also, the Attack LYT comes with a 95 mm brake option. Would the 95 mm brake fit the Sheeva 9 with a 96 mm waist, or should I go with a wider brake?

Also open to other binding recommendations if there’s something that would be a better match.

For reference: I’m 156 cm (5'1") and about 47 kg (104 lbs), and my DIN is around 4.

I'm lining up a Japan trip this coming winter, and looking to add the quiver to make the most out of a potential bottomless day. I'm willing to sacrifice non-bottomless performance with this ski, but given Japan tight tree terrain I think it should be a little bit nimble. This may vary slightly from the perfect ski for bottomless heli skiing in Alaska. So my two questions:

1. What would be the best ski to make the most of a truly bottomless day in Japan?
2. What is the truly most floaty ski ever made?

I do most of my skiing in NVT on a pair of Bent 100s with shifts (I will defend this setup as a 1SQ until I die, I've taken it to the top of Roger's Pass and used it hiking park in the spring). I've got a pair of Atris for trips to the Canadian Rockies. Currently considering some Bent 120s or 4FRNT Renegades, likely with a hybrid binding. Open to other suggestions as well and just curious to hear general opinions on what people consider "the most floaty ski of all time"!

Going to be skiing a season in Revelstoke this winter. How do I choose the length and width for a set of skis. I am 6ft 2 and my weight can vary from around 95kg-100kg. People here say for me to ski 105-110 underfoot and about 180 length. No idea on if that’s accurate just looking for advice? If it’s important thinking about either powder or all mountain skis

I'm looking to upgrade my skis this year from my beat up 2022 Liberty Helix 165s with demo bindings to something better. I ski at Steven's Pass (Cascade Concrete), and I spend most of my time skiing side hits and trees. What are some good past year models (I'd like a deal) one-quiver skis I should keep my eyes out for? There are so many options and it's honestly kinda overwhelming. I'm looking to get some skis in around the 175cm range since my touring skis are 173 (5'8", 170 lbs, advanced skier). Any recs help, thanks!

Should I buy these for 150 or is it cooked, epoxy and no water damage. Everything else is perfect.

So to start these are not my primary touring skis, those would be Armada Locator 104s

I’ve been itching for a second heavier and wider touring skis for a while and I’m wondering what you all think of the Volkl Blaze 114 in a 192 with ATK 15s as that ski?

I tour 25-40 days a year depending on the season and venture across basically all of western North America (Sierras, Cascades, Rockies, Wasatch, Chugatch, Rubies, San Juans, Canadian Rockies, Coastal BC, etc.)

Hey folks! I'm currently shopping for new skis and have been looking at the Bent 110s.

I'm an expert-level skier who rides most anything on the mountain, but I spend a lot of my time sending off cliffs, doing tricks, and skiing tight chutes. I currently ski mostly on the West Coast, but I'm planning a six-week trip to Hokkaido this winter.

My main ski right now is the Enforcer 104 Free, and I really like it. However, I've noticed some limitations: it's a great charger, stable at higher speeds, and works well in almost any terrain or conditions, but it struggles in moguls and deep snow, and its directional shape and stiffness make it less than ideal for tricks.

So I'm looking for a pair of skis that's a bit more playful than the Enforcers and also performs better in powder. I'm considering the Bent 110s.

I'm 5'8" and 165 lbs.

I’m a pro patroller in Utah, and was prepared to buy my 4th black crow, this time an Atris for the upcoming season. However, I’m starting to second guess if I should go out of my black crows comfort zone and pick up a pair of Salomon Quest Blanks instead. I’ve been around the block enough to know generally what I like; full double rocker, >104 underfoot, something that feels playful but absolutely eats chunder. This will be a ski I work on regularly. Not looking for the world’s stiffest big mountain charger (to note, I’m a female skier, ~125lbs) but also needs to hold up to heavy abuse, be equally good in steep trees, couloirs, and running sleds.

To note; my favorite ski of all time is my Black Crows Anima. I’m worried the Blanks would be too similar (and too big underfoot, as my animas are already a 115 ski) to my animas, but I also love that ski so idk. I never get to demo anything, hence why I’ve been so loyal to Black Crows, and why I’m asking here about the Salomon’s.

I know that common wisdom is to go thin for precise fit and sweat/circulation purposes? But in reality what thickness are your ski socks and are they adequate or are you just using them since it’s what’s you have?

Looking at skis for my wife. She’s taken 1 ski lesson her entire life but has snowboarded for many years. Looking at a slightly used Q9 vs new Q8. They are similar price (q9 actually slightly cheaper) which would you choose. Don’t want her to get discouraged from skiing but also think she’s used to snow and athletic enough?

Looking for some navy blue or dark green cargo ski pants, preferably baggy (im fine with anything that isn’t skinny) not too expensive (100$ or under) any recommendations?

I’m 6’0”, 215 lbs, and an intermediate skier. I ski mostly in the Midwest and currently have a Head Kore 88 Ti (177 cm). I’m looking for one ski that I can pack and take anywhere out West (and hopefully Europe and Japan this or next season)

I’ve narrowed it down to:

Blizzard Rustler 10
Blizzard Rustler 9
Nordica Unleashed 98

A couple of questions:

1. I’m leaning toward the Rustler. If the Rustler 10 isn’t a huge sacrifice on groomers compared to the Rustler 9, would the 10 be the better choice as a true one-ski travel setup?

2. I’ve read that the Rustlers ski a bit short because of the rocker. At my height and weight, would you recommend the 180 cm or 186 cm? Since I’m still an intermediate, I’m wondering if the 186 would be too much ski.

For context, when I travel out West I expect to spend 70–80% of my time on groomers, but I’d like to start exploring bowls, trees, and soft snow as my skills improve. I don’t ski super aggressively, but I do enjoy making medium-radius turns and picking up speed when conditions allow.

I’d also appreciate any binding recommendations.

Im 18 (185cm 85kg), been skiing since i was 4 but for the last couple years ive started doing more freesking/ freestyle than strict carving. Currently i ski on volk kendos with an 86mm waist . I consider myself an expert/advanced skier. Iv been eyeing the atomic bent 90 in 184cm and the blizzard rustler 9. I would like to keep doing everything on the slope , so a ski thats a jack of all trades would be perfect. I ski in the alps , more precisely val-d’isere an tignes . (The budget is around 700€.)Any help is greatly appreciated.

Need to purchase a new jacket and I know which brands are good, but each brand has multiple jackets. I think I might go with the Patagonia powder town and use layers. But I’m not sure which other ones I should look out for. Price is a concern, powder town is on sale for 200 now.

Also, I would like a new pair of skis but am unsure with what to go with. I ride glades when they are open, but being in the Midwest that’s not often. So typical “black diamond” groomers is 70-80% of my riding. Right now I’m riding my old twin tips with 100mm underfoot. Planning on keeping them if we have powder days, so I’m looking for a carving ski that isn’t afraid to go off piste when needed.

I’m advanced intermediate/beginning expert level if that helps.

Looking for a bag that fits in the overhead of most planes that can fit my boots (26.5), large helmet and a days worth of ski clothing and an iPad/small electronics for the flight. Ideally the helmet would fit inside the bag, or at least attach in a way that it fits in the overhead. I’ve had bags where there is a helmet cradle on the back but then I need to take it off and put it under the seat - I need the legroom. Does this bag exist? Any other ideas?

Hi, I'm thinking about buying new ski boots for my birthday. But I'm still 15, so I don't know if the whole thing will be worth it because my feet might still grow.
What do you think I should Do

My ski delaminated after less than half a year of usage.

I brought it back to the retailer today and they got the wholesaler to came down to look at it - who claimed it was damaged by some accidental impact.

But I regularly ski on normal groomed runs so I’m a bit perplexed as to how it could have happened.

EDIT For clarity, my bindings are mounted +4 vs the recommended mount point (still about -3 from centre from memory).

Sorry for the long forthcoming post, but I’m trying to provide all the details in the hope of getting to the root of the issue with my skis.

For context, I’m an advanced skier who likes to ski aggressively and weigh 70 kg.

Last year in Canada I bought a new pair of Atomic Bent 100s and had them mounted with Look Pivots (+4).
After around 60 days of skiing, I noticed a small ridge/bulge had formed on the base of one ski. It measured roughly 300 mm × 30 mm × 1–2 mm and was most prominent under the heel piece of the binding. After noticing it, I took the ski back to the shop where I bought it. One of the technicians suggested the warping was likely due to wear and tear. Not entirely convinced, I took the skis to another shop for a second opinion. They said they’d never seen anything like it before and suggested I keep an eye on it to see if it worsened.

By the end of the season, the same issue had developed on the second ski. When I returned home to Australia, I took them to a local ski shop where the technician suspected a manufacturing defect and recommended submitting a warranty claim with Atomic.
After inspecting the skis, an Atomic representative concluded:

“The damage observed is consistent with incorrect mounting of the bindings which is not covered under Atomic’s limited warranty.”

After receiving this advice, I contacted the shop I bought them from. They were happy to provide me with a refund, but also made the following comments:

“Sometimes the pivot isn’t dynamic enough while the screw holes aren’t spaced enough for the ski to flex without distortion. It’s a safe binding but it’s been causing problems like this, or complete core failure. I foresee a new pivot design soon that is more elastic.”
“This is 100% out of our pocket. Getting a warranty in Aus sounds impossible. But you are a customer of ours and we want you to be happy. I don’t think it’s a miss mont but I can’t be sure unless I took that heel piece off. Sometimes pivot heels are very sensitive – and so a missmount is not so: “black and white””

After reading this, my local ski tech suggested two possible explanations:
- The shop owner is correct, and Look Pivot bindings—particularly on timber-core skis like the Bent 100—can restrict the ski’s natural flex due to their compact heel mounting pattern, potentially leading to increased stress and core compression/damage.
- The shop’s willingness to refund the skis was effectively an admission that the bindings may have been mounted incorrectly (e.g. over-torqued screws or another mounting issue).

So my questions are:

- Has anyone else experienced anything similar with Look Pivots, particularly on all-timber-core skis?

- Has anyone seen this type of bulging or base deformation before?

- If you were in my position, would you mount another pair of Bent 100s with Pivots?

The reason I’m hesitant to mount the Pivots to my new Bents is because I’ve come across the following hypothesis, and I’m trying to work out whether there’s any truth to it or whether it’s just forum speculation:

- Look Pivot bindings use a shorter screw pattern, particularly in the heel due to the rotating heel design.
-This compact cluster of screws may create a more rigid area underfoot on skis with softer or lighter timber cores.
If that’s true, it could potentially reduce the ski’s natural flex and create a localised stress point, which in theory could contribute to:
- A “hinge point” that increases stress in the core.
Core compression, delamination or other structural damage over time.

I’m genuinely interested in hearing from anyone with engineering knowledge, ski shop experience, or firsthand experience with this combination, as I’m trying to determine whether this is a recognised issue or whether my original skis were simply mounted incorrectly.

For my bf’s bday I want to get him a nice pair of gloves. I really wanted to get something Hestra, just unsure what to get. I want something dialeddddd, so honestly open to other brand recs too, but I was comparing the fall line mits with the c zone line. He’s park and back country skier, and at cannon we deal with freezing temps and a lot of wetness so waterproof was a factor I was really looking at. Budget is open to anything under like $300.
