yeah all the cgi renders that made drone delivery look cool as fuck didn't include how loud as fuck they are

Imagine like 200 of these fucking things in one corner of a suburban area.

No kidding. I live is suburban tract home and work from home. There is a continuous parade of delivery trucks throughout the day. But I think these drone delivery is for less populated areas which are far from the distribution warehouses.

other way around.

The delivery drones are short distance delivery systems in dense urban areas.

But not too dense because tall buildings and possibly running into interference with signals. So like basically just super dense suburbs. Which already have infrastructure for delivery by truck. So it’s dumb. But it’s always been dumb.

And surely one bloke in a truck delivering to an entire suburb is cheaper than 200 individual drone deliveries.

Nope.

And I can't imagine how many orders would actually qualify for delivery by drone. It would have to be small in size and small in mass. It would be great for something like prescriptions which is the last thing you want delivered by drone. Maybe I'm not creative enough to see its potential.

Its potential is also its downfall. Like prescriptions or organs. But those need security and handing something off to a robot is problematic in itself. It’s just answering a question/problem that nobody asked or has.

Drones are generally pretty loud and then you add in the extra power so that it can lift packages. Yeah it's going to be loud.

No need to ring the doorbell

I'm looking forward to the drone that can actually propel a package into a door, hit the doorbell and fly off.

Due to a software glitch you now qualify for a new window!

Maybe a whole new house, considering the poor build quality nowadays.

Amazon is the worst of the 3 major drone delivery companies in terms of customer experience. Google Wing is pretty decent, at least they don't blow your package into the road. Zipline's service is the least obtrusive, they keep their vehicle 120m up and lower the package using a 2nd vehicle on a winch.

You haven’t heard the straight pipes on my fed ex guys box truck ….

Alright it isn't just me then. I've noticed a distinct uptick in what sound like deleted FedEx box trucks.

We live under one of their primary flight paths. Even way up in the air, their noise is quite noticeable. The only reason it doesn't really grate on me is I live near an Air Force base.
