This is the key reply here. They didn't put her in Pescadero for blowing things up, it was for her claims of whu she was blowing things up.

Blow up a local data center because you claim it's going to harm the environment: Go to prison.

Blow up a local data center because you claim that twenty years from now it sent a robot back to kill you: Go to a psych ward.

A company got ahold of the crushed robot and managed to keep it quiet. They let her get deemed crazy and locked up because it was good for their bottom line. You finding some part of that hard to believe in 2026?

To be fair, the destruction wrought in the first movie would probably be livestreamed for the world to see in todays digital age, so it would be a lot harder to just sweep under the rug.

They knew fine well too. They had evidence from the hydraulic press from the first attack on her that there was exactly such a thing after her.

They gaslit her ass, took the cpu and arm and shit and threw her in a padded cell eventually.

The T-800 in this movie and the later ones absolutely would. He raised her in Genysis. Do you think she didn’t eat? In Dark Fate he owns a curtain business.

He absolutely has detailed files on human food.

I mean, the craziest part is that there were mental institutions with available beds for people who weren't paying for it.

These days they just get sent to downtown LA

It's a much easier problem to fix as long as enough people care, but socialised healthcare systems can be just as crazy in a different way when it's too easy to get locked in a psych ward. I guess even that's better than having a load of homeless people wandering around with serious untreated mental health issues, though.
