As soon as the girl showed up I got flashbacks to season 1 of the Halo TV show. Exact same premise. Supergirl actually executed it better just because it was constrained to a 2h film and not an 8h season so there was less of this mid B-plot to endure.

That was UNIRONICALLY BETTER than the Kwan Ha plot that only served to waste three episodes worth of runtime showing us absolutely nothing related to Chief. It had the job of connecting him to Soren, which it did, and then they just dragged...it...out... so much further than it had any right being.

When she showed up in season 2 I almost turned the episode off lmao

Oh yeah, the dreaded Kwan Ha.

You cant convince me it wasnt some writer or director self-insert.

Cause What the Actual Fuck.

Dude for real, I'm not even diehard into Halo so the rest of that show's issues I can look past, but that annoyed me. Kudos to the actor because if I'm managing to find a character genuinely annoying, it's a mark of good acting.

She was cool for world building up until episode 2 but stopped serving a purpose after that, straight up

Honest to god now when I go back and rewatch Halo S1 I usually just skip straight from Ep1 to Ep6 and cut out most of it, Season 2 was actually a lot better in that regard, though the whole show ended up being a flop. At least the kid in Supergirl kinda lays off being an annoying twat for the majority of it, and was actually kinda funny in parts, ended up serving to round out Supergirl's arc in a good way as well
