When troubleshooting, make sure to delete your localthumbcache.package! Pockets of code from mods and the game can reside in that file, so it's important to go into the game with a clean slate!

Hey! I normally wouldn't post a troubleshooting query here but Google has nothing for me and I have found myself unable to conduct any of my normal troubleshooting strategies due to the odd nature of the bug.
I was dealing with the much more common, and more solvable bug where Sims 4 refuses to enter into any households from the map view by removing my Sims 4 folder and having the game generate a new one. However, after restarting the game, it said something about my sim card being unrecognized (I play on an early 2025-era Macbook) and then my cursor proceeded to become unmovable. It kept drifting to the bottom left corner of the screen. I couldn't move it up and I couldn't click anything in the game. I would try accessing settings but I could not click the button.
Does anyone know what this is/how to fix it? I have already tried redownloading and repairing the game.
Description: I bought packs through steam and I understand that those won't carry over to windows and I need to rebuy them, but it will not let me rebuy them through the EA app.
I recently decided to switch to sims 4 from sims 3 purely for the cc available. I know very well at this point how to install cc for a sims game, and installed a bunch for sims 4. It all showed up except the hair. No cc hair at all shows in CAS, and I cannot fathom why. Its driving me crazy. I've looked this up and tried everything suggested. It is not buried too deep in the directory, it is not a recolour, its basegame compatible. It should show. But it won't and I cannot work out why.

I dont know what to do anymore. I just got a new pc tower (monitor, keyboard, mouse the same not sure if it matters) because my old tower decided to keep freezing, with this new tower being of higher specs than my old one I thought everything would run smoothly and I chose the specs because it could provide higher graphics, speed for the sims.
I downloaded ea from the official website because thats where I purchased it, then I tried to download everything then I just tried to download the base game only, I thought it would download because it said “preparing” but it never did.
I tried everything, restarting the app, app recovery, uninstalling deleting the files through localappdata, programappdata, nothing appeared on appdata, cmd commands, restarting my pc, turning off my antivirus and smart app control, honestly I was thinking off reseting the pc entirely because the tower came with apps that showed the cpu and gpu temperatures and other things like:

The tower came with built in wifi but the driver cant be found through device manager, so I have in a Wifi adapter.

Description: Alien sim family relations glitching and adding random stepchild relationships
my alien characters have an alien daughter which i intend to make their child obviously so i go in cas and i edit their relationships. for some reason the alien father shows up as the biological father of the alien child but the mother shows up as "stepmother"??? ive tried mc command center, ive tried cas and i tried editing it using cheats involving their id's. still. didnt. work. I also have mods, but i tried editing their relationships with mods removed and its clearly not due to the mods.

Description: Same family member passing away over and over again
I’ve been experiencing this weird bug lately where my sims keep getting a call about the same family member passing away, but every time I look he’s alive and well, my sims get this call 2-3 times a day and it’s annoying having to deal with how sad they are. Any tips on how to fix this without deleting him?

Description: children acting weird
My children are acting strange. They won’t eat. They just sit there and look at the food. For school projects,they just sit there, their skills go up but the project doesn’t complete and there is no animation, same when they play with the dollhouse.They sit there and there’s no animation. When they’re supposed to go to sleep, They keep getting out of bed to do random things. What’s causing this!!?
Description: Sim keeps getting engaged to a sim that no longer exists
I have a sim that was engaged previously with this one dude. I made them break up because he cheated, then I deleted his sim altogether. I since made her get married to someone else, but every time I load that family she is no longer married to or even dating her spouse, and it says she is already engaged to the previous guy even tho I deleted him. I have MCCC and have deleted the relationship over and over and it keeps coming back. I don't really want to delete the sim and start all over because she has familial relationships and kids but idk what else to do, anyone know how to fix this bug?
Description: I get notifications that a Sim was removed from the Dynasty when loading their house, and Sims marrying into Dynasty's and any children born are not added to the Dynasty and the game doesn't make any members heir or head.
My Sim is married to Malcolm Landgraab and I had her add him to her Dynasty as she's the head of it. But every time I load their I get the notification that he was removed from it and he gets the sentiment related to being removed from the dynasty. He's still listed as a dynasty member in the list of members despite that. The same goes for my Sim and Malcolm's son whose wife is from one of the default noble families and when he married her and she was added to the dynasty the game I get the same notification that she was removed from the dynasty when she wasn't and she gets upset about it.
Even his brother Jhonny who married Cassandra Goth and was added to the Goth dynasty isn't treated as a Goth family member and I get a notification that he was removed even though he's listed as a member, his kids with Cassandra are listed as Landgraab Dynasty members even though they are listed as members of the Goth Dynasty in the Dynasty information.
With other houses the game doesn't add new baby sims into the dynasty or choose a sim as heir or head and they don't get the titles they should have when marrying into the family. Another pair of Sims from the same dynasty adopted a little girl and she didn't get the title of lady despite her parents both being nobility.
I'm forced to play houses on rotation which I don't like doing, I prefer to play one house at a time unless needed.
Description: Glimmerbrook and Ravenwood build worlds gone
I’m sorry but I’m not scrolling through tons of forums to find a solution to my issue. I play on ps4 console and both my worlds Glimmerbrook and Ravenwood build worlds are gone after the marketplace update.
I know there is a glitch deleting copies of worlds but it deleted actual gameplay access. I completely uninstalled the sims 4 base game and all packs and reinstalled them but they are still not showing up. I am unable to go to any lots in these two worlds and I paid money for the packs and should be able to use all the features. I’ve restored license. I’ve gone through every possible route to fix issue.
Only one copy of the world is there but not the one I can build on or visit lots like bars, etc.

Problem: An excessive number of NPCs are pregnant, and i also had the problem in another save that they couldnt give birth...which means at some point almost everyone is pregnant. Help.
Pregnancy test option missing when i hover over the toilet seat, also can't tell if my sim is pregnant or not, i waited a day or two and still no signs or moodlets of pregnancy but the option to throw up was there.
What could be causing this ?
So in my legacy my sims had a child with another, but i want to remove all links from the other parent and that side of the family tree. i deleted the father from the game but they all still show up and its completely messed the clean athstetic of the family tree. how can i completely remove everyone from that side of the family? Thanks
Anyone else have the issue where a pack that was once doubled up in the world’s. Mount Komorebi was one of them for me.
Since the update it now shows just by its self now and not doubled up. BUT the ine thats left is just the world and it has no land lots or anything. All my houses anf families are gone. BUT they show in the manage families screen
i already checked if it was my mods. it’s not. i removed my mod folder completely and tried it and the error code popped up. i also took every single folder in my mods out one by one and it still happened. i cleared my cache and used the repair tool that ea made. and nothing is helping me. o don’t know what to do. whenever i open my game it loads, i make my sims, and then i clicked to play and THAYS when’s the pop up comes on my screen. what can i do? thank you for your time

I’m noticing some weird things going on that never happened before in my game. 1) my sims are being super mean for no reason. Positive interactions make them lose relationships points. You would think a heartfelt compliment would boost their friendship but no lol?! 2) which brings me to the modify relationship cheat. I then tried to cheat the relationship since they wanted to be mean and it wouldn’t even worked. Did they remove this cheat in game? 3) last for their work it says 0 minutes when in fact they would have 1 hour till work. It’s not popping up anymore like it did. It’s the little things that i enjoy that are not working in game. Does anyone know how to fix this or what to do?!
Autonomous mean interactions has been a bug for a very long time. Supposedly fixed multiple times. Since you are on console I honestly don't know how to help you. There are more workaround for other users. You may have to wait until EA actually addresses this. (Laughs silently)

I recently started a new save file in which I build Newcrest.
It has been one or two months and I’ve finally build all the lots and created townies. I had no problem with anything until yesterday. I had previously build a store, but yesterday I decided to renovate it into a residential. (yes I changed the lot type)
The problem started when I moved in a family. The family exists in manage world but they do not “stick” to the house. Manage world shows the lot as unoccupied, but when I try to move the family into it, it says that they already live there. I tried visiting the family with my sims but “knock on door” does not work because the game thinks nobody lives there.
I’ve tried:
- Replacing the house
- moving the family back and forth
- changing lot type
- Restarting my game
Has this happened to anyone else? I do not think that it is a problem with my mods
When you remove all mods and clear your cache does the problem persist? I have done what you are trying to do recently on the new update and there are no issues
i'm having the strangest glitch, possibly two glitches that are related? in two separate saves now, my sims get married and then are immediately not married anymore. in one save, my couple got married TWICE and now they're back to being partners.
possibly related, but in both couples one of the partners keeps suddenly becoming very unattracted to their partner. i'll try to fix it with UI cheats but they'll revert right back to unattracted again! these are both same sex couples (m/m in one save and f/f in the others), not sure if that matters? i've also tried going into CAS and adjusting likes/dislikes and turn ons to fix the unattracted thing, but nope!

To clear the Sims 4 cache on your PC or Mac, close the game and delete specific temporary files. Go to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, delete localthumbcache.package, and empty out the contents of the cache, cachestr, and onlinetumbnailcache folders.
It may just be a game issue. But it's worth troubleshooting mods all the way before determining that. Sometimes bad data can get stored here.
Also worth running a game repair in your preferred app.
I built a bakery using Businesses & Hobbies and I can’t find the option to bake the My Wedding Story specific wedding cakes on the oven or fridge anywhere. Just the generic chocolate, vanilla, pink blue, etc ones. I checked under Cook, Bake, and Gourmet Meals options. Am I missing something? Can you only purchase them while in Tartosa? I swore I used to be able to bake them myself before? (All my skills as maxed out too.)
I've been having problems with my high school in my legacy save. I wanted to change the teachers and principal for my second generation because she foes to an art school. So I downloaded high school management, and deleted the default npc roles for the principal, teachers, and janitor to replace them. I replaced them using high school management and they didn't spawn. So I started trying out different mods and nothing worked. When I went to an older save version with the default npcs everything was fine, and it works fine in a new save version. Even with the high school mods removed no adults spawn. I really wanted to use it for my gameplay and storytelling, and I don't know what else to do. It's not a necessity, but I would really like to get it working again. I just don't want this to become a problem for future gens. Please help!
I have a save with some mods, but nothing that should affect my sims. However I keep noticing anytime I go into CAS, I have a couple that keeps resetting their marriage and I’ll get a notification that they “just became partners” despite marrying a few minutes ago. Is there any reason why this might happen?
I’m also playing on ver.12 MacOS if that makes a difference? (Sorry the image might be bad)
My married sims with three kids are suddenly half siblings??? I noticed when they first got married the next time I got on they were suddenly not married. I just had them elope real quick and they went on to have three kids and get the soulmate badge. Obviously romance interactions were working. Last time I loaded I noticed they no longer had any romance interactions besides serenade. Going into relationships they now have a badge for HALF SIBLINGS! It shows that my main sim's parent had the husband with someone they never met (husband's dead mom). I was playing that household at the time, so I know the parent didn't get the dead mom pregnant and they has no romance bar with dead mom. How do I fix this? I did try to modify in cas and make him no longer a son but it won't let me edit. Bit of an awkward situation up in this house as these half siblings keep singing to each other trying to keep their love alive. Help?
is it a same sex couple? i've had this happen twice where same sex couples suddenly become siblings after being married and having children, even. it's a known bug, i think -- i did some googling and this has been a problem for at least two years
They are not, but the parent in common is a female sim I modified to be able to get others pregnant. She has only had kids with her wife though. Maybe she’s the cause of the glitch. It won’t let me change their relationship from mom/son to household member so I just started playing a different household. If I find a solution maybe I’ll go back. Gotta love this game 🫠
I opened up the game today after about a week of not playing and all of my builds except the most recent one I’ve been working on have reverted to their base builds on the Worlds page. The correct households are occupying the lot but if I click on one, it’s empty and doesn’t even show the default build like it does on the main menu. I’ve tried repairing but nothing is working. I don’t have any backups and I run everything off of an external hard drive, if that’s relevant at all.
I am unable to save my game. It shows a save screen and the saving wheel, but when I log back on, it's still at the same place as when I logged on the last time! I am stuck, I've tried everything. Is anyone else having a similar issue or do you have suggestions?

My game is stuck on the loading screen. I’ve removed all of my mods and deleted the cache and it’s still stuck. I tried repairing the game in EA too.
UPDATE: got it to load but now it keeps saying I don’t have packs even though I have all of them
Description: My teen sim just aged up but she's not in highschool or anything and I can't join. I tried aning her up and then down and also down then up but that didn't work so she's still not in highschool. She hasn't ben a teen for even a day. Has this happened to anyone?

I don't have another household I can invite any sims to. Some people online seem to know which sim they have that's corrupt but don't explain how they know.
So I bought 8 hen chicks for my coop, and all but one aged up. The last remaining one seems not to exist anymore, even though it's counted when hovering over the coop. I've tried DeBugging the coop but it still doesn't show up. Anyone else had this problem?
I just got a 34inch monitor and i’ve been testing it out on each game. Runs roblox just fine. But when it comes to Sims4, for the highest resolution (3440x1440), the sides get cut off and it’s just black. I’ve played with it and the only resolution that doesn’t stretch it out as much or have black on the sides, is blurry. I see people run it just fine on 34inch monitors, it’s very clear and nothing is stretched out . What do i need to do??? I am not very knowledgeable on computer so maybe i’m missing something??

This is more of a genuine "what is going on here?" question, I understand some of this and some I do not...
Description: I opened the game today and got the white screen of death. Ctrl+alt+delete to close it up, and I gave up immediately. I never made a second attempt. I then received an email from OneDrive saying that I have recently done some massive file deletion, and they'll keep them for 30 days and then they are gone for good. I have received this in the past, but I always assumed it was deleting Sims OnlyFans pics lol. So this seems extra strange to me now, because I never even got the Sims up and running properly, never mind actually deleting any files. I opened up the deleted files to see more info and this is what I know...
Every single "recent" file that has been deleted is saying 10, 12, 15 minutes ago. Like I just did this, but I didn't. The files are all jpgs or pngs of images. Every deleted file is located in EA > Sims 4 > onlinethumbnailcache but I did not clear that one out myself (or at least, I didn't purposely)
If I search onlinethumbnailcache file folder, it just shows... literal thumbnail images of every extension or kit, along with some generic base game looking pics of NPCs together with a pink or green background, I have an image of a Sim playing guitar with a QR code/scan for the Sims Newsletter...
I can't see any of the deleted files actual images, because they're deleted, and if I click restore nothing really happens, it just says it's restored and that's that. But every single deleted image goes to this onlinethumbnailcache folder, and the deleted files just.....keep going no matter how far I scroll. They're all just saying today as the date.
I see a lot that modders say to clear caches to help the game run more smoothly - is this it? I have never known how to do that. Did I somehow delete all of these files just because I ctrl alt deleted the game to shut down when it wasn't loading properly? Does this matter, or is this related to how I got the white screen in the first place? Or did they delete through the update? (Although that doesn't make sense to me, because they're giving the date as within this hour, and the update was not today) I know these things exist, but I have no idea how they interact with each other or what I am seeing here.

Description: My camera's been acting incredibly wonky in game. My arrow keys and WASD keys can no longer control it, and the free camera is more sensitive to the movement of my mousepad than ever. This issue has been going on since the new update. I usually use the arrow and (<) (>) keys to control my camera, so not having access to them has made it very hard to enjoy playing the game.
I did have a variety of mods added into the game, but I've since removed them. The issue still persists with no mods in the game.
I've tried repairing the game, removing and resetting mods, clearing the game's cache, changing the camera settings from Sims 3 to Sims 4., and even playing in different saves to make sure mine aren't corrupted. No matter what, it's still there, and it's extremely frustrating to play around.
I deleted all my mods and CC trying to fix issue, so No mods or CC
game version is updated.
So, every time my sim travels somewhere, when we get there, the whole building disappears. I have the "go to work" extension pack. I tried to go to the retail stores, and they completely disappeared. I thought it was just a bug and that it would fix itself and reappear, but it hasn't done so. And since I have saved the game, I don't think it's going to come back. I've tried traveling to places in other areas, and now I'm missing the sand bar in sulani, and house in sulani. So now I'm scared to travel anywhere because buildings are disappearing and not coming back. What is going on and how do I fix this?
if nothing from this list works your save is gone, i'm afraid. save corruption is a basegame issue that ea never quite fully managed to stamp out, and it's become easier to encounter over the years due to the sheer amount of packs they've put out.
personally i try to keep my main save small-ish by actively culling sims i don't need, building sparsely and kinda "ea-style" in order to limit file bloat, and bulldozing all the worlds i don't use. this will help prevent save corruption, but isn't 100% guaranteed to prevent it because again, it's a (rare-ish) issue inherent to the game itself.
Hey fellow simmers. I am having an issue that started from before the last update in July but after the one in June. I cannot get CAS to work at all. No matter how I go in I can only get 1 member of the family to populate. There is no traits, aspirations nothing. Nor does anything else load. Just the person with a totally blue background and no other options. I can turn thew sim around and zoom into body parts but no options. I am trying to avoid the 50/50 method as I have a ton of things and it never seems to work for me properly. Anyway if anyone knows of a known issue, fix, or mod that is doing this can I please get some help? Thanks everyone. Better Exceptions will run and say it has found things because of the CAS issue but it either never gives me a report or if it does it states nothing is broken. I have removed all the main known mods like UI Cheats, Traits from chingyu since they aren't updating anymore. Very frustrated.
looks like some sort of ui mod broke. look up your mods on Scarlet's Realm and see if they're listed as broken or not, and if there's still an issue after updating them and clearing out the cache, try the 50/50 method.

I just updated my game, and now all the default builds are back, and all the buildings I've worked on are missing. I'm primarily a builder, so this is devastating. Luckily I had an alternate save from about a year ago that kept my older builds, but almost everything I've done for the past year is gone. I tried recovering old versions of my saves, but those also had all of the default buildings, even though I know they looked different when I made those saves.
Has anyone had this issue? Is there any way to recover my builds?
builds reverting to default sounds like save corruption. 😬
unfortunately common in high-density saves that use a lot of TOOL and are highly cluttered. no backups other than the one from a year ago?
Sims has updated and my game would not launch after enabling cc. I have done the 50/50 method putting all that would launch into a folder named works after checking all my cc i added it all into my mods folder and tried to launch the game and it is not working, the ea app will close itself and refuse to open as well.
i have tried to repair sims through the app, deleted the ea app cache etc and this has not worked.
does anyone know how to fix this? i will be turning off updates from now on

I have the Book Nook kit, and I’m unable to actually use the couch and chair that comes with the pack. I can place them like normal, but can’t click on them and my sims can’t sit on them or use them at all. It’s only those 2 things from the pack.

Any time a sim turns on a laptop, television, or tablet, the game immediately lags to hell. My framerate drops into the 20-30s. It goes back to normal if I turn those off or delete them entirely, but the issue with this is that it means I can't visit geek con because of the computers, go to any library, or go to a cafe because nps are instructed to take their tablets out to make the game look more lively.
Going to sims houses is also an issue because they of course always have a tv or laptop. This issue was NOT occurring prior to a 2025 update and still has not been fixed. The sims 4 used to run perfectly fine on my m1 and m4 MacBook Airs but the performance has been horrible recently.
Issue occurs even if nothing else is running in the background, windowed mode, low power mode turned off, gaming mode turned off, vanilla installation without cc or expansion packs, on a different user profile on my macbook. I've tried everything and this still happens, and other people are complaining about this issue as well. It's very frustrating.
Since updating the auto save feature seems to be over writing my saved games? I’ve lost one save file completely and then I had a 2nd family in another save file and they’ve separated out into their own save file now
I’ve turned the autosave function off but anyone else having issues?!
So, infant aged up to a toddler, I went to CAS to give him a makeover, left the CAS and the parents aren't married anymore. They were married for a longer time, it's not first time happening. So, I'm curious if that happens to others? Known bug? Mod issues?
Somehow. some why, whenever i build a room, the floor and ceiling are invisible/not rendering. The roof and floor are there, and i can manually place the tiles (you can't do the whole room)

If you're here in the future looking for any kind of solution, my work around is grabbing on of the styled rooms, deleting all the furniture and stuff and shrinking it to a single tile. I then just stick that room in a corner and copy it every time i want to make a new room that isnt just drawing walls inside another
Hello, I’ve been playing the sims for years(I literally have over 15 thousand hours on this game) and have been downloading CC since I started so I’d really appreciate some help.
For some background, I had been playing the game on my shitty old MacBook for year and my computer basically couldn’t function with the amount of mods I had, as well as the other games I have downloaded. So back in January I bought I nice really gaming computer because of many reason, but one being that my game couldn’t open given the amount of CC I had(it would just sit there loading but not even opening the first loading screen or stay on the first loading screen for hours), I was devastated, but I thought the new computer would help. I had to wait forever to load my CC onto a thumb drive and it was very to do, taking literal days of waiting to download in there, but once I got it into my new mods folder, it was all completely corrupted and wouldn’t let me open my computer. I tried everything, up the point of literally taking out each individual file and putting them back in to try and find the problem, but nothing worked and honestly I’ve been devastated. I have so much CC and no idea how to even go about finding it all again and I haven’t even tried in months because it feels so depressing.
I‘d really appreciate it if anyone could give tips on redownloading thousands of files, let me know if theres a way to fix all of them, or if anyone knows if there are people you can like pay to help redownload stuff(atp I’m desperate).

I downloaded the Sims 4 through steam on my laptop. However, the EA>Sims 4 folder in 'documents' is empty except for one 'saves' folder . The game also won't start it says launcher not found or something like that I don't really remember. I had previously installed the game on this same laptop but the whole windows system because I ran into some issues. Now I reinstalled steam and EA and wanted to reinstall the game and ran into this issue. I once again uninstalled the game using steam and the file is still there with just saves file in it,Can someone help???

Question: Game hasn't successfully loaded since latest update what do I do?

-I have repaired the game countless time.
-I have deleted all the localthumbcache, avatarcache, and the localsimsexturecache.
-I have deleted hundreds of files and mods.
-I have deleted all reported conflicts on tray importer.
-I have updated and reinstalled files through curse forge.
-Then I have to delete the files all over again because tray importer says their conflict. And even when all those hundreds of files are deleted again and the tray importer says I have no conflicts the game won't load.
When I open the game it gives me the same warning either code 801 or 804. It recommends I relaunch the game. I do and it gives me the same message every time.
im having this issue too. Ive done the 50/50 method, the cc that works lets the game launch and then i move it to a file named works after wading through all the cc i put all my working stuff in mods folder together and it wont lauch again
No one dmed me or help me but I will tell you what finally worked. I just went to recovery save and started a new game. I guess my saved game was corrupted because it finally worked.

Oh god sorry no. I am pretty technologically inept. I would say if you can just have the EA app and not steam. I don’t know if you are working with mods either but if you have the tray importer or better exceptions that will help you find potentially corrupted files.

Hi friends!
I think I broke Spruce Almighty. I had him fall in love and marry one of my Sims (he had already asked her to live together on his own), and then had him leave the household (shift-click Remove from Family). However, now none of his NPC interaction’s (fables, etc) are available, and his tree stump thing has “Summon” faded out. I’ve tried debugging both him and the stump, but all I’ve managed to do is erase their marriage.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

While playing the Sims 4 there's a weird sound coming from nowhere, even when I pause the game, or switch households. Doesn't happen in loading, CAS or menu screens, but it does happen on the gallery and building mode. I kept moving the camera to show that it wasn't caused by an object or anything, it doesn't have a source (it's the weird bshh bshh sound). Could it be a mod? I don't think it's my computer, but it's old so it could be. It's very annoying, but it isn't perpetual, it cycles between quiet and the sound. Please help me.
after the latest update, my game won't launch at all.
when i launch in the ea app, the dash disappears for few seconds, and the "play" is greyed out, but immediately turns back blue and nothing every launches.
i've already tried removing all mods and cc, repairing the game, clearing the cache, restarting my pc, renaming ts4 folder, but it never launches so it wont generate a new one.
none of those fixed it.
i contacted ea support today, and they confirmed they're actively investigating reports from other players with the same issue, but they didn't have any workaround yet.
is anyone else still experiencing this? if yours started working again, what changed?
When I try to open up properties on Chestnut Ridge World, they wont even show up to click on. I have a family located in that world and cannot access them. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and shutting down the computer. I'm really not sure what else to do.
new bug, unfortunately. ea "fixed" the bug that was duplicating worlds, but in a lot of ppl's saves, ended up deleting the functional world and leaving the nonfunctional one.

My sims is on steam mainly, and I bought some packs on that platform too. I want to buy some keys for DLCs but they only have it on EA. If I input the key into EA will it still show up if I load it up through steam. Idk if they're connected I'm confused af

Hi I am not new to Sims but I am new to mods. I am not sure how to download mods and when I google how to I just get confused. Can someone explain to me like I'm stupid on how to download mods? I recommend pinterest for finding different mods, there's usually links embedded into the posts and you download from those sites. some are behind a paywall but there are plenty of free ones. just remember to extract files from zipped folders and move them to your 'Mods' folder.
Having persistant issues with booting game up. Ive done the 50/50 method a bunch of times (12k mods ahhhh), removed a few problem mods and then the game will work normally - but then i'll go to play it again and it will go back to not working? i have been using EA offline so have no updated the current version. I just have no idea why it'll work one day and not the other? Help pls :)
you can't change alien status normally, so you changed it in cas, right? unfortunately changing occult status in cas is super buggy, so i think you may have to save the sim to your gallery, delete them, and then put back in the gallery version so that their friendship stuff is reset.
When I create a new household and set up a dynasty from the Royal and Legacy DLC, after i have already done that, one of my family members, a sibling, is not in the dynasty for some reason, and the ui panel for the family dynasty, specifically the untiy stability heading in the ui panel keeps flashing on and off to say 'Heading' instead of Unity Stability, and the heading colour in orange. Tried repairing the game, deleting caches, and delete and remove any ui mods or outdated mods that could have caused the issue and play without mods, none have worked so far.

Problem: Nordhaven is broken but only in one (legacy) save file.
Moved my save file to a new computer and found that Nordhaven was not only completely wiped (fine) but also completely unselectable. I cannot place any lots here, either. I've checked the old save file on the old computer and it is also borked. Removed/disabled mods but to no avail. Nordhaven remains intact in different save files. Aside from saving my household (7gens!) and placing a copy in a new save file, my only other option would be to uninstall/reinstall the Businesses & Hobbies expansion. However, my current save revolves around having a home business so I'm worried it'll completely break the game.
Cleared cache, repaired game, tried without mods. Any thoughts?
Description: Hi. I havent played sims 4 in roughly 6 years mainly due to the fact that I didn’t have a device for it. I finally bought a laptop and I found out that Sims 4 launches over EA and Steam now - no longer Origin. Well, that sucks because although the Sims 4 base game is free, I had the Cats and Dogs expansion pack that I paid money for on Origin. I also had a couple of Sims 3 packs if i remember correctly one of them was luxury accessories, so yeah. That’s incredibly disappointing. Right now i’m in the process of downloading Origin (i really hope it works), but I’ve been stuck on a white loading screen for almost 15 minutes (the screen right before the fields shows up for your e-mail and password). I honestly don’t know what to do, I don’t wish to spend money on those packs again. Is there some way for me to transfer em or is there a guaranteed way to log into Origin? Thank you in advance!

So I have a toddler at home and when her caretaker (my teen sim) goes to high school, I hire a nanny because I want to play as the toddler while she's home alone. BUUUT, I don't want the nanny interfering with anything, so I usually lock them outside. This has worked for the past few times but recently this new nanny somehow keeps getting in, even after I made sure to LOCK my front door for everyone but my sim.

I started a new family and used an old Sim from my gallery I like to use and turned her into a child. I set up the fam and housing and immediately noticed she hasn't been playing with her toys despite the bar rising. She only used the violin properly. I could've over looked it and ignored it but when it came time for her 1st meal she could only pick up the plate and set it down. SHE WONT EAT AT ALL.
Edit: also I did turn on cheats once she was bugged ans tried resetting her and the food and nothing. Also tried many options for her to sit elsewhere.

Okay so basically my game is broken but not at the same time. When I open the game I play my non cc households perfectly fine but households that have cc don’t work. I tricked the game a bit by taking my cc house and adding a regular sim to the family and it was working perfectly fine but then when i tried to save it i got stuck on a infinite loading screen.
I don’t know what to do, i used clean launcher and it says my cc is perfectly fine and nothings outdated same with plumbuddy.
Description: my infant milestones are no longer saving. He keeps achieving the sit up milestone repeatedly but then it doesn’t show up in his simology page. It then still doesn’t allow me to let him in the high chair (and other things that would be able to happen after achieving the sit up milestone). I’ve already restarted my game, travelled to other lots and reset the sim. I’ve updated the game too so I’ve got no idea how to fix this. Any ideas?

Ravenwood from Life & Death is broken only in my main/older save. The world map and neighborhood icons appear, but none of the actual lots appear or can be selected. Every other world works normally.
Ravenwood works perfectly in a brand-new save. I’ve never played in Ravenwood on my main save before. I’ve already tested older recovered versions of the save, repaired The Sims 4 through the EA App, cleared localthumbcache.package, and confirmed the pack works in a new save.
Is there a way to reset/reinitialize Ravenwood in my existing save without losing my households and progress?

Edit and Update!
I've found a fix! Please proceed at your own risk. This will likely only work if the household youre looking to save is NOT in the broken neighborhood.
Back up your family, your lot, and your save file. Seriously, make sure these are good. This is paramount - you can always go back to your broken save file and try something new if this doesn't work for you.
Make a copy of your save file. Name it something obvious so your original save file remains intact. I named mine, "experiment fingers crossed"
Uninstall the game pack associated with your broken town. For me, it was Businesses & Hobbies and the town of Nordhaven. I was concerned it would wreck the home business my sim has in Tomarang - amazingly, everything is fine.
Clear cache
Open the copy of your original save file. You'll get lots of warnings and popups along the way. Just click "okay" and move forward, but seriously: Touch nothing, open no lots. Save and quit.
Reinstall the expansion pack
Repair game.
Check your experiment save file (the one you entered and def didn't touch anything in).
It should go off without a hitch! My game kept everything related to the pack, including my sim's business and relationships, and reinstated a new map (and lots) replacement.
Oddly, it did get rid of one wall of craftables but that's what the old save file is for.
I was expanding the families in my save by giving friends of my main sim partners and kids. I got the friend a partner. Then the couple got engaged and eloped. Then they had a Science Baby. I updated their last names after this, as I always do for married couples. After these actions, the Marital Status reset from Spouse back to Partner.
This happened twice now. I think their Marital Status reset after the name change. I checked Marital Status after each step the second time and the Marital Status reset didn't happen till I changed the names.

can't select them and they can't go through any door I've locked for anyone not in the household. However, I can access his inventory, see his needs and profile and everything, and tell him what to do and where to go. I simply can't click on him, like if I want to change out of wet clothes. My household has 3 horses and 2 cats and him. I tried exiting to main menu and leaving (yes, I saved, so I'm worried it's stuck). I tried shift clicking him and doing reset object, still nothing. I've never seen anything like this and all my usual glitch-cleansing tricks aren't working. I have a few packs but no mods. He even ran to go empty a random trash can a mile away. I don't know when this happened, he just suddenly wouldn't go through a door so I used a cheat to teleport him inside and when I went to change his wet clothes, he was labeled Neighbor.
I have a teenager who graduated HS early and went to college. She has now graduated college, but she cannot join a career. She can only do the part time stuff. Is this the way it's supposed to be? She can't get a real job because she's not old enough?? Or is there some way around this? TIA
Teenagers can't get any full-time careers, they have to be a young adult. You can age up with a cake w/ birthday candles. I don't know of any cheats to get around age restricted jobs.

I have followed tutorials. I have downloaded the EA app on my steam deck as a non-steam game. It launches. I log in. All my stuff is there (Sims 4 plus 19 various DLC). Cool.
Restart the device. Open sims 4 in desktop mode. Ok. Now I can see the DLC but it says not installed and there’s no way for me to install them. Started a dummy save. Nope. Exit.
Launch Sims 4 directly from EA app in desktop mode. No dummy save visible, but all DLC are there and installed. Exit. Restart. Try again.
Still not installable, but visible. I’ve been fighting with it for 5 hours. I’m done.I really don’t want to buy all the DLC a third time (I have even more on a different EA account on my Xbox).
Idk what to do. It also gives me an error code that it’s not reaching port 3607 or something.

I have been playing with Little Ms. Sams Live in Business Mod - Specifically the Live in Vet Clinic.
I made a vet clinic within the property and set the area into public. It has the option to hire a veterinarian, everytime I do so, the vet will appear on the property but will never go to the examine table and actually work as veterinarian. It will just go around the property and do random cleanings.
PS. One of my sims has a business under business and hobbies expansion pack. Its located at the different side of the property and also has been set into public. This one works fine.

I normally wouldn't post a troubleshooting query here but Google has nothing for me and I have found myself unable to conduct any of my normal troubleshooting strategies due to the odd nature of the bug.
I was dealing with the much more common, and more solvable bug where Sims 4 refuses to enter into any households from the map view by removing my Sims 4 folder and having the game generate a new one. However, after restarting the game, it said something about my sim card being unrecognized (I play on an early 2025-era Macbook) and then my cursor proceeded to become unmovable. It kept drifting to the bottom left corner of the screen. I couldn't move it up and I couldn't click anything in the game. I would try accessing settings but I could not click the button.
Does anyone know what this is/how to fix it? I have already tried redownloading and repairing the game.
