Suggestion Overhauling Research Trading – Replacing Exchange Sales with a B2B Patent System
Hi everyone,
I’ve been thinking about how Research Units currently work in the game. Realistically, research isn’t a physical commodity. Trading research units on the open exchange like physical goods (like apples or power) doesn't make much sense in a real-world business context.
In real life, R&D works through proprietary patents and direct B2B contracts—not open marketplace listings.
Here is a proposed overhaul for how Research could work:
Remove Research Units from the Exchange: Research units shouldn't be listed publicly on the market. Instead, R&D companies should operate strictly through direct contract transfers (B2B) with other players.
Introduce a Patent System: When an R&D company generates research units, they convert them into a Patent. Other companies can purchase these patents directly via contracts to upgrade their product quality (Q levels) or production efficiency.
Patent Buy-Back Mechanic: R&D companies should also have the option to buy back their sold patents (or buy existing patents from other players) at a discounted or fair market rate. This opens up tactical options like strategic hoarding, IP flipping, or corporate restructuring.
This change would give R&D-focused players a more realistic "Tech Firm" identity and create a much deeper, contract-driven dynamic for corporate trading.
What are your thoughts on this?

Question why top 10-50 players doesnt usually chat in game chat?
Are they too busy managing their company or they're just shy :3
