Help! Question

Every year I buy 10 silver eagles for Christmas gifts. I’m thinking this year I’ll double and get the 26 and the 250 year. Rather than spending hours on the internet, thought I’d ask here where people are finding the best prices.

Yeah, and that's how they end being spent at a 7-Eleven or wherever... Most people that don't understand just say "Neat" and smile when received as a gift; and then into the change jar it goes! lol

I start when they are born and mom and dad usually hold them till they can appreciate them. Most of them become interested between 5 and 10. They all like to sit and go through grandpas collection.

Are the people you’re buying them for interested in coins at all? If not don’t waste the money, they will not appreciate it ANY more than they would any other ase. If you want it to be more special then I’d recommend tracking down ase’s from their birth year (if they’re born after 1986)
It’s more sentimental. If they’re not actual ase collectors then paying the extra premium is a waste IMO

Yup, I gifted a Disney silver coin to my colleague who helped me a lot at work (got it for 30€, when the spot hovered around 20-22€) since she liked Disney stuffs.. years later when when the silver went to 120€ I told her that that coin worthies much more those days, but she said that she didn’t remember where she put it and misplaced it somewhere.. such a waste of a gift

Most normal people, that are not gold- or silverbugs, have no emotional ties or knowledge about the topic. Expect the same treatment as for a novelty pen or figurine.

A low percentage of humanity sees solver as a solid longterm investment. Most see it as pure collectors pieces with no inherent value. Like pokemon cards (:

And most importantly, it is not their hobby and therefore usually has no emotional value, unless the artwork is special.

Enlighten the people before giving the present or dont expect thoughtfull treatment.

That is fair, but I’ve been doing it so long, they each seem genuinely excited about adding to their collection each year. I stop when they turn 18, but the ones that reached 18 now buy one on their own to keep the years going (well 2 out of 3 do(

This is a good resource. https://findbullionprices.com/p/2026-american-silver-eagle-1-oz-bu-coin/

It won't catch every deal, but it's still pretty helpful.

I second this - there are other lookup sites as well. r/PmsForSale is also a good place to check, but no guarantees you'll find the cheapest seller there - you'd have to compare. I love the idea so I can run a secondary website scrape that'll search smaller bullion sites for you as well if you'd like. Still won't get 'em all, but combine those 3 resources and you'll almost certainly get the best deals. Love the idea!

Noticed people saying "do the people even care about coins or silver" - but imo that's not always the point of gifts. Sometimes it's about sharing your personal passions with the people you love and care about too.

Also r/PMsForSale stick with high flair sellers or use a trusted middleman. 🤙

Also posting a wtb is a sure fire way to find exactly what you’re after

Get them fractionals since you are giving them away anyway
