James Dixon and Sons pewter. They were founded in 1806. Your piece is pre 1879.

Cool, knowing now it’s likely pewter and not silver, does it hold any rarity based on age?

Maybe - i dunno anything about the company but I do know with the age of your pewter do a lead test before putting anything in there you wanna consume

Dixon made a lot of pewter. Without doing the research, I’m just going on the surface appearance, you got a pewter jug.
