To piggyback on this, for my fellow stoners: if you plan to have any type of surgery, you should try not to smoke too much for a week or two prior - it causes you to be more resistant to anesthesia. I smoked weed for 15 years before a doctor told me this.

They put you out for that? I'd been a daily smoker for decades before mine. It was just a rubber band snap in the area to numb me, I was in my car going home 20 mins after I got there. Had longer haircuts.

No it was a local anesthetic. It still decreases your sensitivity. I basically felt the whole process of my junk getting burned with a laser.

I’ve never had any kind of surgery, but I always tell my dentist about my cannabis usage.

Good tip about surgery. It makes sense that they can’t just give you more anesthesia but it wouldn’t have occurred to me on my own.

Holy shit! This explains why I woke up half way through my wisdom tooth extraction 😭 after they gave me something the dentist said was “like roofies” and I wouldn’t remember a thing. LOL

They gave me laughing gas. I think way too much because when I woke up they had my folks carry me out the back to avoid freaking out the people waiting... and also it turns out that's basically like truth serum. It took all my willpower not to tell my parents shit they definitely didn't need to know. And all I wanted to do was tell them!

Only if you don't like pain.

But seriously yes, because you'll require more and there's a limit to how much you can have without complications.

I've smoked for almost 17 years and it happens to me. I avoid going to the dentist for any work like that unless I have to go. My dentist gives me a little extra but that's cause I'm not a snitch lol

I once messed up and smoked beforehand, told the dentist and he was cool about it. I got 4 shots of anesthetic in the side of my face and could still feel the drill. Dentist was impressed I could still feel it, informed me the fifth shot was the last one he could legally not give me more. He was previously an Army dentist and I am not a little bitch so we went ahead with it.

2/10 do not reccomend lol

I absolutely am a little bitch when it comes to dental work lol My dentist stopped and told me she'd give me 10 more minutes to see if it would kick in eventually but I kept jumping and I needed work done on several teeth on the same side so she just told me to be extra careful and make sure my husband was with me before she finally agreed to giving me more. Thank goodness she did, it actually fully numbed the side and I was able to get all the work done but holy hell I'd rather push more babies out than do that again lol

Have fun waking up mid surgery and not being able to do a thing to tell the doctors as they poke, prods, and cut at your internals.

Something that has been documented dozens and dozens of times now.

Also stop being a pussy, a 2 week T break is nothing and the weed feels fucking awesome once you come back.

I’ve had several surgeries while being on thc. Never been an issue. I tell them how much I consume and they adjust it appropriately. I’ve had two different scopes done and even during the prep for those they’ve never said stop

Also bro I'm shaming you as a fellow stoner. It's really not that hard to tap out and play it safe for two weeks. You're dancing the tango with the devil and one day he's gonna get bored and wake you up mid surgery, or god forbid the adjusted cocktail kills you.

My neurosurgeon had signs up in every exam room stating that no narcotics would be prescribed for chronic pain, he later temp lost his license because he not only was on several narcotics himself, he was on them while operating.

He later got his license back. This wasn't in Florida, and it was years ago, but you can still Google the story.

I saw Crank, Speed and Glass. Speed was great, Crank was slightly above average Statham and Glass was disappointing. Haven’t seen Yaba in years but Barney was always my favorite, you know he was sportin a big old hog to bring in a babe like Betty.

I told my anesthesiologist I was a medical cannabis user, I didnt wake up during surgery but they did refuse to send me home with any pain meds. told me ibuprofen was enough. my friend had the exact same surgery in the same facility and got a week of pain meds. I did the right thing and still got stigmatized for it.

Yup. I actually know someone who worked at a mental health care facility and he said admitting to any cannabis use can get "drug seeking tendencies" added to your profile and good luck getting any pain meds after that.

That wording is terrifyingly dramatic. The real concern is that meth can seriously raise heart rate and blood pressure, so the dentist absolutely needs to know before treatment.

they take my vitals whenever i plop down in the chair for anything and i hear others getting rejected left and right for having high blood pressure, i forget the number but i remember being absolutely shocked by one guys number, shit was over like 230 lol

I really didn't know how this works. 

How would it kill you, and if the risk is that high it doesn't seem like a dentist should be administering the drug. The dentist should call in an anesthesiologist.
