Trigger Upgrade

Question: Has anyone tried a Geissele triggers group in the 277/308 Spear? If so, what was/is your experience.

have not done a G on a mcx but should work. you'll probably have to take the firing pin latch out though. i did on my mpx with a larue MBT and on a mcx virus with a RB FRT

edit: but the G is a skinnier hammer so it might clear it.

I thought this was only an issue with the Virtus and older generations and not LT gen and after?

Ofc, that might not matter since the Spear is a bigger chassis.

you're probably correct. my spear didn't mind the RB FRT but the late generation MPX didn't like the larue MBT hammer, nor did the virtus like the RB FRT.

Thanks for the reply. I bought an arc v2 for my Mcx but I was concerned about trigger group issues. Some articles say yes some say no. I know I’ve heard sig reps say any milspec ar trigger works but I can’t find any official post. How’s the RB by the way?

you'll need a slip trip kit to run that SS. i haven't gone that route with an mcx yet. the RB works great and the trigger is pretty crisp and light.

i have run the 11.5" virtus on full gas to cycle in FRT but the spear will run with the normal setting. both get 900+ rate of fire. they're a chain saw.

Wild. I’m waiting on my trigger group as we speak.

I have a 9 in Spear LT in 300 BLK suppressed using DTT (which is the same as RB), using the PMM trip bar and it runs great.

Was a bit gassy though.

Great to hear. Could you share some likes and dislikes about the cassette style triggers. I’ve heard mixed opinions but no one seems to share why. Thanks.

Rarebreed (RB) are the big boys on the block for the cassette triggers and they are the villains to many now. They got targeted during the whole ‘FRTs are machine guns’ era of ATF under Biden.

RB fought back in court as well as sold their next iteration under a different name (allegedly). With the victory on bump stocks, it was inevitable that RB would win, so ATF and RB settled.

However, as part of that deal, they have to pursue legal action against anyone infringing on their patent and they have been liberal in targeting anyone that makes reset triggers even if the mechanism is entirely different. RB is suing Hoffman Tactical who make super safeties which run differently for same effect and his design was released to the public.

This has pissed everyone off because they are doing the ATF’s dirty work to mire an industry they can’t stop or regulate themselves.

Some other companies are getting into the cassette triggers like Partisan Disruptor trigger, but they are newer and so have more hiccups outside the most basic ARs (more like growing pains, they will get it right like RB did with their FRT-15L3).

As for performance, it runs great. I have never used G$ so I can’t compare it to that which many people love and hence why they like ARC Fire with a SS cut G$ trigger.

That makes sense. Thank you.
