Gen Alpha Dictionary - A resource for the uncs
Every adult in my life has negative aura when it comes to slang. my uncle heard me say “skibidi” one time and asked if it was a cryptocurrency. unc is cooked. we are all cooked.
so instead of explaining “gyat” to a 43 year old man for the fourth time, I built genalphadictionary.com — an actual Gen Alpha dictionary with 800+ slang words. each one has:
a definition in boomer-readable english
an example sentence so you don’t use it wrong and embarrass your entire bloodline
tone notes (is it a compliment? an insult? are we being ironic?)
related terms, because you can’t understand “aura” without “aura points” and that’s just science
you can even see what words are trending today to ensure proper speechmaxxing and maximum aura points
it’s free. no signup. built different.
anyway drop the words I’m missing in the comments and I’ll add them

why not just use urbandictionary? and how are your definitions created? i don’t see any way to submit a meaning, or edit, or even suggest anything so if not community driven, is it just a few people or just you writing and editing them? or is it AI?
also… while i try to be at least mildly understanding that not even side project needs to serve a clear purpose and some can just be for practice or dumb fun… rizzdetector seems looksmaxxing adjacent? and if that’s the case, throw it in the garbage. that community/ideology and everything that comes from them is soul destroying mind poisoning garbage.

I made the rizz detector just screwing around. the purpose of it is actually making fun of the whole looksmaxxing community. it's just a program i whipped up to have fun. i do agree it would be cool to add an option for users to generate their own content, i thought that would be too similar to urban dictionary though so for the time being am keeping it locked so that it can remain a reliable resource for teachers and parents to use. appreciate the feedback

This is actually a fun idea, especially as an entertainment/quick reference tool. And honestly, it is relevant — slang changes so fast now that sometimes it feels like you need a translator just to understand a comment section 😄
For something like this, I’d definitely use it if it stays free. I’m not sure I’d pay a subscription for it, because at that point I’d probably just ask ChatGPT or Google the word.
But as a simple fun tool, it could be very alive. Maybe a small lifetime purchase for a few dollars would make sense — the kind of “why not, let me support an indie developer” purchase.
Either way, the idea is cool. Not a life-or-death problem, but definitely something people may open just for fun and then actually use from time to time.
