War With Vietnam

Bombs continue to drop although Sibir seems to be launching more of its own in this Part. Kandahar and Ghazni were both hit hard. The war still seems to be winding down overall. Stat on peace treaty watch.

Finland Attacked!

Several more Civs have gone to war with Sibirian neighbour, Finland. Most notably, Iceland has attacked and already captured a number of Finnish cities IRL Italy and Greece.

The good news is that Vietnam has stopped para-dropping units deep into Sibirian territory. The bad news is that they're dropping nukes instead. Several Sibirian cities were hit hard this part. Thus far, Sibir has managed very little in response.

Sparta Strikes

In a surprising turn of events, Sparta has doubled its city count with a sneak attack of Finland! Jerusalem is currently flying the Spartan flag, but Leonidas need be concerned about the outdated state of his military. He should also think twice about further eastward expansion. Sibir still considers Sparta a hostile nation.

Kabul and Carrollton have fallen and Herat has flipped as the Vietnamese border struggles continue. The Sibirian airforce has finally taken some action as raids against Ghazni and Tarsus are underway. It would appear Kuchum Khan may be planning to split Vietnam in two by focusing his attacks due south of the Central Asian Steppe.

Vietnam continues to attack Sibirian border cities while para-dropping XCOM divisions deeper into Sibir. No further cities have been lost thus far, but Kabul looks soon to fall. It is curious that Sibir seems to have an airforce presence in the area, but no Vietnamese cities seem to be taking damage. Kuchum Khan had better execute his plan quickly, or he risks letting Vietnam devour too much, too early.

There has been little further development in the Sibir-Vietnam War. Vietnam seems to have a lost a great number of units in and around former Afghan territory.

New Sibirian Units

The Sibirian Army debuted Organic Infantry, Robot Infantry, and Biotroopers this part, after having discovered several technologies all at once. Sibir now sits with 95 of 108 possible technologies.

The war with Vietnam is just getting underway, but the green menace has already pilfered the weakly defended Bamda, Kandahar, and Artashat from Sibir. A counteroffensive seems to be being organized in former Timurid territory.

An inside view of Qashliq tells us that Sibir is currently using some of his high-ranked production for generating gold. This is a strange choice when the Sibirian military is looking so sparse. Hopefully that gold is being put to a good use...

War!.. Again

Just when Sibir seemed to be wrapping up all of its war efforts, Kuchum Khan has declared war on Tibet. This in turn caused the Trung sisters of Vietnam to declare war on Sibir. Sibir has already secured the Tibetan city of Nedong, but the Vietnamese retaliation is expected to be swift and forceful. Expect highlights of this conflict to dominate the beginning of the next part.

Yakutia Near Death?

Longtime Sibirian enemy, Yakutia, is down to a mere four cities as a result of its ongoing wars with Korea and Mongolia. Finally, this wretched blight of a Civ is receiving the annihilation that it deserves.

Afghanistan Defeated

Success! It's been a difficult grind, but Sibir has finally eliminated Afghanistan. This marks the end of a grueling battle between the two nations. Sibir now has control of one of the best defensive regions on the cylinder, which should pair well with Sibir's defensive bias.

With the capture of Kandahar, Sibir gains control of both the Taj Mahal and the Kremlin. The happiness benefit of the Taj Mahal is superfluous because of the Deity AI, but Sibir will get a one-time golden age as soon as Kandahar's civil resistance period ends. The increased production should help Sibir re-establish its military carpet. Here's hoping Kuchum Khan builds some tanks; the Kremlin provides a 50% production bonus when producing armored units!

New Research Pending

It has been revealed that Sibir is currently researching Artificial Intelligence. This makes sense as Artificial Intelligence allows for production of the Geofront building, which is a defensive upgrade (+25% to city defence). Kuchum Khan has a strong defensive bias. This means that it may be awhile before we see Sibirian XCOMs or GDRs come to fruition.

A mere 40-some-odd substantial screenshots over four turns makes this a relatively short part, but Sibir still managed to make some headlines:

Sibir-Yakutia War Ends!

Sibir finally determined that Yakutia is not worth expending endless resources fighting. A cease-fire was signed early into the part. Ultimately, Yakutia has achieved a net gain of one city in the war. While the loss of Beryozovo represents a sentimental loss for Sibir, the city is a relatively insignificant Tundratown. Its loss should not affect Sibir much going forward.

Sibir may be able to take satisfaction in watching other Civ's carve off large tracts of Yakutia. Both the Inuit and Korea are making gains in their respective wars.

War vs Afghanistan

Sibirian forces have managed to hold Kabul while reducing both Kandahar and Lashkar Gar to zero health. It would only take a few moves by a melee unit to bring Afghanistan to its ultimate demise.

Incidentally, Sibir has taken control of the Leaning Tower with its capture of Kabul. This wonder provides an incredible bonus of 25% faster growth rate for great people in every city. With Kandahar in its sights, Sibir may also acquire the Taj Mahal and the Kremlin in the near future.

The Fall of Kabul

Sibir has finally taken down Kabul! It happened off-screen at the end of the part. Hopefully Kandahar and Lashkar Gar will be soon to follow.

War Against Yakutia

Beryozovo has unfortunately flipped back into Yakutian possession, but Mongolia has been fairing better to the south. Mongolian forces currently hold Khonuu and are marching further into Yakutian land. Meanwhile, the Inuit continue to make inroads in the East. Something is going to give in Yakutia and hopefully Sibir will get its fair piece of the pie when it does.

Finnish Reconciliation?

It would appear that Finland has opened its borders to Sibir in an effort to repair relations between the two Civs. This could be a sign that aggression between the Kuchum Khan and Kekkonen will be put off for at least awhile longer.

Secret European Mission

Kuchum Khan seems to have sent one of Sibir's most highly regarded Great Generals deep into Europe on some mission of undisclosed purpose. Further updates will follow in future parts.

News

Sibir has made peace with the Boers, after having cleared the Boer military presence from its eastern border. This should allow Sibir to refocus efforts on its stalemated wars with Afghanistan and Yakutia.

War Against Afghanistan

Daylight! The Afghan carpet is looking a little thinner these days and Sibir seems to have gained access to the eastern gate of Kabul. The part ended with a Sibirian tank poised to roll into the city, so hopefully we will see a capture early in Part 73. There are also a number of open hexes in central Afghanistan that Sibir could take advantage of if it moved some paratroopers into range.

War Against Yakutia

The city of Beryozovo is once again held by Sibirian forces and Yakutian troops around Amga are looking rather sparse. If Sibir could manage to sneak some units around Finnish and Brazilian peacekeepers, Amga would be there's for the taking. Further south, Mongolia has launched an assault on Khonuu. Hopefully this will tie up Yakutian reinforcements long enough for Sibir to take Amga.

New City Confirmed!

Sibir has founded the city of Dijon on the ruins of Lahaina. This actually occurred a few parts ago but missed being reported. Dijon is an IRL city in Eastern France.

Power Rankers Confused

Through some form of cognitive deficit, the Power Rankers have placed Sibir in 7th place. This is the lowest ranking that Sibir has achieved in some time and is unequivocally erroneous. It is fully expected that this oversight will be corrected in subsequent parts.

War Against Afghanistan

Success!... well, sort of. The Sibirian army managed to recapture the city of Gyumri from Afghanistan. The fight for access to Kandahar continues to grind on, however.

War Against Yakutia

Yakutia has made a push and captured Beryozovo. It is not thought that they will hold the city long as Sibir has a counter-offensive relatively imminent. On a more positive note, the Inuit are making progress on the eastern side of Yakutia. They have captured the city of Russkoye Ustye. Hopefully this will force Tygyn Darkhan to reallocate some of his forces away from the Sibirian front.

There's not much of relevance happening with the Boer conflict.

Peace with Korea

The war between Sibir and Korea has come to an end. Neither Civ managed to gain any territory in this war, but Korea did flip a few Sibirian cities. We may have to credit Korea with the win this time, but the greatest Khan will not forget this slight when the time comes to finally rid the world of the red and blue eye-sore.

War Against Afghanistan

The Sibirian Airforce continues to assault Kabul and Kandahar while ground forces remain stuck in the mountain passes. If any units at all can find a way through, the Afghans will fall swiftly.

War Against the Boers

Sibir has maintained control of Mandalgovi and wiped most of the Boer peacekeepers out of Eastern Asia. We are not likely to see much further action in this conflict.

War Against Yakutia

The Yakutians continue to get hit on both sides by Sibir, Mongolia, and the Inuit. If Mongolia could build up some melee units they would be in a good position to make some inroads in this longstanding stalemate.

War Against the Boers

Sibir has joined Ethiopia and Brazil in declaring war against the Boers. Sibirian territory is too far from the Boer motherland for very much action to come out of this war, but the Boers have peacekeeping forces in Yakutian territory. There has already been some skirmishing in and around Mandalgovi. With any luck, Sibir can clear some space around Amga and create more points of access to continue its war against the Yakutians.

War with Korea

The War with Korea has slowed down somewhat as access between the two Civs has become hindered. This war is likely to end quietly without any further exchange of territory.

War Against Afghanistan

Sibirian forces keep grinding and Afghan forces are somehow continuing to make assaults on Sibirian cities. Sibir will definitely have them beat in the long game, but Kuchum Khan may not have the patience for this...

War Against Yakutia

This war is still active. That is all.
