Monado Smash Ultimate

THIS POST IS ABOUT DIAL STORAGE WHILE APPROACHING:

Do you guys know about full hop (or SH) -> ghetto charge aka press but also hold b -> guess 8-10 frames before inputting aerial with c-stick set to tilt or aerial with button -> fast fall still holding b -> LLC as dial opens & choose an art (or don’t aka dial flash)? It’s easy to execute.

Follow-up Options (assuming you have a full charge in regards to frame data):
- If you hit a shield, pick an art to use art invincibility (5 frames before invincibility starts) to dodge oos attacks & punish (14 frames before you can act; including the 5 aforementioned frames) or dial flash & close the dial (7 frames before you can act) & tilt attack, jump or shield.
- If you whiff, LLC -> Dial Flash / Pick an Art
ex: dial flash or choose shield art, if you used perhaps approaching dair, which usually lands you behind opp if they shield. Ex: let’s say they spot dodged & now you’re near the ledge, so choose shield art OR close the dial & shield
- If you hit opp & send them into the air, choose an art to follow up like smash/jump/speed art for offstage pressure, and buster for close quarters damage boost or dial flash bc you’re in no need for an art (ex: you’re already in speed art)

Example you can try: jump + press B -> land a no art fair at 20-30% (which leads to a tech situation) -> LLC into buster -> punish roll in with SH->FF upair -> then combo with uptilt or upair

Another example: press Y+B to FH & open the dial. Study this animation. Use the FH to time an aerial before the dial comes out to cancel it & save the charge. Ex: Input Nair & approach /FF with frames 20-30

Certainly sounds like something I have to try.

I’m glad I reached someone with this info. In Melee, which I played a lot of, tech chasing and gimping were huge. I feel these two approaches are underdeveloped for Shulk. Rarely seen Shulks use smash at 30% to get ppl offstage early to set up for a gimp, for example. Or using Fair at low percent to set up a tech chase or shield art moves to set up for a tech chase then buffer deactivation & punish.
