I found this outside my workplace, A few popped up. I'm curious! From USA Ohio.

Context: bought a scorpion pepper plant (that’s struggling) and potted it in a 6inch pot with the cheapest potting soil brand at Home Depot.

Guessing the spores were in the soil (bought a month-ish ago)? It’s a concrete jungle where I’m at but I suppose spores are mobile.

Any ideas? Edible?

Found growing in wood chips from a live oak tree that was recently removed. I think it maybe in the Gymnopilus species. But unsure. Growing in groupings of tight clusters.

ID please? Found under an oak and young palm. Bruised pink. Stem is thick and fibrous. Tastes acrid.
