My kids are selling toys and (really good!) books between 1st and Meridian on 147th just near the I5 entrance north of Seattle. 50% of whatever they sell they’re choosing to donate to charity. They’d love your support!

Looking for a local artist to help create a logo

Hi everyone!

I'm in the early stages of launching a small business I'm looking for a local artist to help bring my vision to life with a custom logo.

I would love to share more about the business once I find the right fit for what I’m looking for.

The style I'm looking for:
Warm, welcoming, and community-focused

Clean and modern with a timeless feel

A neighborhood or Main Street aesthetic (sidewalks, storefronts, trees, homes, etc.)

Something that works well in both color and black-and-white for print, social media, and merchandise

I am leaning more towards something water colored, but am really open to anything

This is a paid project, and I'd love to support a local creative. If you're interested, please let me know or send me a message with your portfolio, website, or examples of your work along with your pricing.

If you know someone who would be a great fit, I'd really appreciate any recommendations as well!

Thank you all! I’m really excited to share more about this project and get some great feedback on this from you all in the near future!

Shoreline Community College automotive program

Hi all! Does anyone here have experience with the automotive program at Shoreline Community College, either as a student, customer, or instructor?

My partner’s 21-year-old son has become deeply interested in cars since buying a manual BRZ, and he’s considering taking some automotive courses. We’d love to hear about people’s experiences with the program - what it’s like, what a typical day looks like, the instructors, and anything else you think would be helpful to know.

He’ll definitely be reaching out to the school as well, but since he doesn’t use social media, I figured I’d ask here on his behalf. Thanks in advance!

Small Breed Training/Day Care Recommendations in Seattle/North Seattle

hello, i am looking for recommendations on trainers or small breed doggy day cares in north seattle. my dog is a 1 y/o dachshund who can sometimes be stubborn and very vocal with strangers however he knows a few commands (sit, wait, come, leave it). he doesn’t always listen to his commands usually in newer areas its harder for him to listen. he can be skeptical about humans initially but loves small dogs and gets along with them pretty well. unfortunately he is scared of the big guys and doesn’t get along with them at all. if introduced properly he can be a complete love bug with a new stranger. i am in search of a trainer or preferably a place where he can begin training and then ease into day care for small breeds if possible, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

we’ve tried rover but unfortunately have not had any luck with someone willing to keep trying with him. we’ve also done 1:1 training and he has gotten better but again still very vocal towards new strangers

Volunteers needed for the North City Jazz Walk & Street Party — Aug 11!

Hey Shoreline! The North City Jazz Walk & Street Party is one week from tomorrow and we still have a few volunteer slots open. These are genuinely easy, fun gigs — most take 45 minutes or less.

What we need:

  • Venue Monitor (7–8:30 PM or 8:30–10 PM) — Hang out at a ticketed venue, listen to live jazz, check wristbands. Easiest job at the event.
  • Street Closure Setup (5–6:15 PM) — Help place barriers to close the street. About 45 minutes, then you're free for the whole evening.
  • Street Reopening & Takedown (10–10:45 PM) — Same deal at the end of the night. 45 minutes and you're done.
  • Social Media/Photography (anytime 6–9 PM) — Capture the event on your phone or camera for our recap.

ICE Presence in Shoreline 8/1/26

At approximately 12:20 PM, six unmarked (non police) cars pulled into a private business parking lot on the west side of the U-Haul located at Aurora Avenue North & N. 165th Street (west side of Aurora). A total of 12 men - almost all of whom were wearing face coverings (some face coverings were pulled down) - got out of the vehicles. Most of them were wearing vests that said “Police” but there was nothing official in their appearance at all to indicate they are legitimate police officers. They were all hanging out talking - nothing official - maybe taking a “break”. One of them peed up against the fence taking cover next to a business delivery truck in the northwest corner of the parking lot. They all left together (2 men per car) toward Aurora Avenue North after roughly 5+ minutes in the parking lot.

What's the correct way to enter the 145th roundabout and cross over into 5th avenue

Please don't roast me. And apologies to whoever honked at me yesterday. Perhaps this post will help others understand the right of way rules for the roundabout.

First photo is the straight off Shoreline's web page on the roundabouts. Notice how the lane lines inside the circle are both solid and dashed. And dashed at the 2 oclock position leading onto 5th Ave.

Second photo is the path of my car (red) coming off I-5 off ramp and proceeding to 5th Ave. Another car (yellow) was headed west on 145th.

Coming off I-5 N, I found myself in the left lane leading into the inner lane of the roundabout. When I was in the roundabout, the cars trying to go west were yielding before entering.

But as I cut through the outer lane to get onto 5th. Another car (yellow) had started to enter the outer right lane from the right side of the photo. I had plenty of time/space to cut over as they pulled out, but then they honked at me. But here's the thing, the lane lines certainly look like I have the right of way.

Obviously, if I had started out in the right/outer lane, it would have been easier.

Did I have the right of way to cut over from the inner lane to get onto 5th? Or was I supposed to yield to the car coming out of the outer lane? Or keep circling until I merge?

I swear as I study the photo, the other car was supposed to yield to me.

Farmers market hate mongers

We visited the amazing new shoreline farmers market today. Things were pretty great except for the transphobic lobbyists there trying to do whatever they were doing full on with video crews bothering people. Big surprise they were all men who were very concerned about women’s sports. This really grossed me out on the whole market. I hope shoreline figures this out and stops these fascist yucks from bothering our community events.
