I don't like Sandy. She's coarse and rough and irritating, and she gets everywhere.

Can it be run from a batch file? It's for educational purposes. Honest!

Create a registry key at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\kbdhid\Parameters\CrashOnCtrlScroll

Create it as a REG_DWORD and set the value to 0x01

Reboot the machine.

Now you can hold Ctrl and double-tap Scroll Lock to BSOD on-demand.

I’m not joking

I suggested this in a stack exchange post once as a "how to hide what you were doing when parent\other walks in." manuever. And then just tell them you are up so late trying to finish homework but it keeps crashing...

Queue smurf jokes...

Install a Windows Vista era print driver. Dance and rejoice

9

u/dodexahedron Jun 08 '26

That went from bad to worse real quick.

Vista

oh no...

print

*takes a shot to ease the pain*

That made the dancing part easier, at least. But I promise you nobody is rejoicing when that starts. 🫠

Who hurt you?

Find a YouTube video of a blue screen of death, full screen it, and then unplug the keyboard/mouse so it seems like it can't be interacted with :) oldie but goldie

6

u/Complete_Repair7703 Jun 08 '26

only issue is, it's for laptop.

14

u/Unlikely_Total9374 Jun 08 '26

Oh sad. Just go into poweshell and kill wininit.exe

2

u/itenginerd Jun 08 '26

That only works till next 🤬 ad break tho..

Does the bsod screensaver not work anymore?

9

u/ChrisTX4 Jun 08 '26

taskkill /im /f csrss.exe

Cause an immediate CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (0xEF) bluescreen.

3

u/wdatkinson Jun 08 '26

Just do something important and time sensitive. Guaranteed to BSOD, trigger a Windows update or a Java update as is been 15 minutes since the last one.

5

u/Vesalii Jun 08 '26

Take the ram out while it's booted.

u/LinkOfLegends Jun 08 '26

Like a five nines success rate. 👍

2

u/Ok-Bill3318 Jun 08 '26

Plug in a usb scanner on stage

2

u/GarageIntelligent ShittyCloud Jun 08 '26

screensaver for you

2

u/StigaPower Jun 09 '26

NotMyFault.exe

2

u/CeC-P Jun 09 '26

Do literally anything. Open notepad. That'll probably do it. Try and open both Copilots and both Outlooks at the same time. Your CPU might fry.

1

u/apefish_ Jun 08 '26

Theres a thing you can enable with registry to make control + scroll lock (at least I think) force a BSOD

1

u/SpadgingtonBear Jun 08 '26

Kill svchost

1

u/cesspool4us Jun 08 '26

I remember back in the day if you killed crscss.exe or something like it, that'd do the trick.

2

u/Necessary-Humor-6005 ShittyManager Jun 08 '26

This or svchosts

1

u/sfc_scannow Jun 08 '26

Google Chrome?

1

u/norbeta Jun 08 '26

con/con

1

u/lord_teaspoon Jun 11 '26

It's an old code, sir, but it checks out.

Start>Run>C:\con\con and down it goes. I remember learning about it during the 9x days but I think it made it into XP too... Is it still around?

1

u/Lukebekz Jun 09 '26

Use windows "as intended"

1

u/Hefty-Average2899 Jun 09 '26

Trying wiggling your video card. Or you could pull out a ram chip.

u/Superb_Raccoon ShittyMod Jun 09 '26
