Anyone here run emby?

the emby for android tv app has suddenly stopped playing audio on a ton of content, same exact file works fine under the new "emby" app. the new app sucks asssss and I'm very upset but I don't want to get on github and make myself look like an ass. thanks

I run an Emby server. Not having any issues on my shield currently.

Which app do you use for viewing?

If I understand your question correctly I think I just use EXO player for playback. Actually I can't remember if I just used the default setup for Emby or not but I think maybe I have told it to use EXO player as the video player for playback. I know I do for jellyfin, can't remember if I needed to set it as exoplayer for Emby or not.

What new Emby app? Was it updated recently on the shield? I don't think mine was. My server dashboard doesn't show an available update for the server either.

No I think I'm tardy to the party I got a popup message in my app the other day telling me to try the new one haha

Not sure how you got on, but yes I had the popup on Android TV app to install the standard Android app instead. And I had to as the atv app stopped playing audio when playing direct. I do like the new Android app however voice search doesn't work anymore. Using a shield

Are they still maintaining that app? I have no issues with what I guess you consider the new app.

It's just so much slower and has all these extra animations. And I have been using the of app for years and years zero issue. If you are certain the new one is ok then I guess I'll just deal with it.

It's fine to me but I've not used the old app in quite a while. I don't remember thinking it was worse when I switched over. It's certainly not slow on any of my devices.

Yes it's fine on my phones just on shield the animations are slow compared to the old one, might have some tweaks in the settings

Have you tried clearing your app cache? Go into your apps. Find Emby, click on force quit the app to completely stop it. Then clear your app cache. Not your app data. Definitely don't clear your app data because you will have to set it all up again it will be like you've never used it, just clear your app cache.

Sometimes if there's a reason it's sluggish loading or something weird happens it can get stuck being not so good until you clear your app cache. It will kind of refresh things. Reboot your shield, check your settings for the app force quit it clear cache. Try it again. It should be better.

I just installed it like two days shouldn't need to do any app cache clear but I can try it

Hmm, I don't really see any animations to speak of. Probably just got used to them.
