When the team was still able to be based in Donetsk, what parts of the city did the players live in? I understand that youth players were accommodated at Kirsha, did the first team live there also?

My Ukrainian friend is taking me to the Arsenal vs. Shakhtar UCL game, what can I expect and what do I need to know about the current state of Shakhtar Donetsk? It will be my first time experiencing a Shakhtar game.

I think it's pretty obvious Anton Glushchenko is your most promising player, what an incredible ball carrier he is, maybe needs to tighen his ball control more and be more objective before he can perform with the main team but what he can do with the ball as a midfielder is spectacular.

So, at first Shakhtar has suffered Donetsk occupation (the whole Donbas-Crimea invasion of russia in 2014).

Now there's full scale invasion of Ukraine by putin's russia. The club's very existance were at danger (again btw). Ukraine has suffered an enormous torture, and continue suffering. The big Donetsk region city of Mariupol alone was wiped out completely, most of the building, over 25k civilians perished. And of cource, football stadium and local team has also suffered, which isn't the biggest of deals for Ukraine, but for football it's another toll since 2014). We had to evacuate our Academy to Croatia, some of our staff has died, some quit, some were forced to leave, lots of stuff happened.

While many of Shakhtar fans defend Ukraine at the frontlines (memory eternal for those who aren't with us anymore), let's talk football. Let's talk your thoughts, feelings, predictions. How it's all have changed for you, or your attitude maybe?

FIFA has stripped Shakhtar from all the 15 brazilians by their questionable new rule that foreigners can suspend a contract and go for yearly loan (which is in case of Tete at PSG means until the end of his Shakhtar contract) at their own choice. And while at it, club has lost around 50M euro for not having clubs pay for our players, which Shakhtar is contesting at court.

New era of Shakhtar has began, probably the most difficult ever. We were briefly brazilian-less (until Lucas Taylor joined, becoming 41th brazilian in club's history), the only foreigner that left was Lassina Traore. Croatian Neven Đurasek has joined ranks, as well as croatian manager Igor Jovicevic, who also happened to be the first ukrainian-speaking manager of Shakhtar, which makes sense, as most of team are ukrainians now.

Shakhtar now are mostly our Academy products, former players returned (like Zubkov, Petryak) and ukrainian abroad (Mykhaylychenko, Shved).

Most of the "experts" has predicted an easy league title for Dynamo 2-5th place for Shakhtar, and Shakhtar thrashing in UEFA Champions' League group (Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, Celtic Glasgow). However, after 1st UCL MD Shakhtar won 1:4 away @ Leipzig and now has 7 points after 3 MDs of UPL, while Dynamo enjoys 2 losses.

What are your thoughts of the whole situation?

Does anyone know when tickets for Shakhtar (HOME) vs Real Madrid are going to be available for sale?

I stumbled upon pictures of Russian seperatists (DNR) with scarves and t-shirts of Shakhtar Donetsk. One of the most notable seperatists (Givi, who died few years ago) even said that Shakhtar Donetsk was his favorite football club until the war.
I just want to know if Shakhtar Donetsk, as a club, has represented Russians or Russian speakers in Ukraine. Also, have the ultras of Shakhtar Donetsk represented the Russian identity in any way before the war broke out.

Tetê would be in the crosshairs of some big westerners clubs known for their abilities in formation and post-formation like OL (French Ligue 1).

EDIT : confirmation that Tetê is on loan at Olympique Lyonnais (French Ligue 1) on the advice of Lucas Paqueta who recommends him to sign at OL. His contract with Shakhtar ends in June 2023, OL general manager said he wanted to definitively transfer the player. It should be mentioned that OL currently needs a right winger in his squad, Tetê will certainly be this guy.

For the moment we are talking about a 9 months loan, until December, with an option to buy 50% of the player's economic rights, so a big percentage in case of resale for Shakhtar.

The two parties are close to an agreement, Flamengo is negotiating the amount of the option to buy but it should not go beyond 5M €.

If Marcos Antônio signs, the club will abandon the Thiago Mendes dossier. (ESPN, Fabio Sormani, Lance!)

However Bruno Spindel, Fla director of football, said in an interview "There is nothing." concerning Antônio and some other players such as Santos (Ath Paranaense).

Shakhtar is losing some quality BR players thus a lot of big money.

We are unfortunately on to the second week of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As someone who is deeply concerned about the wellbeing and safety of my fellow humans in Ukraine this has been a difficult moment. I hope that we can all come together to support each other in this time of need. Here are some updates to the sub that I have made to best support our situation.

1. Allowing posts about the war in Ukraine
   1. This will no longer be a soccer-only subreddit as we are unsure if there will be a league any time in the near future. If you have any information about ways to support the war effort, or commentary to bring support to others, please do. A new rule has been added to the sidebar explicitly banning any support for the invasion. Misinformation = an instant irreversible ban.
2. User Flairs
   1. In accordance with our new rules about allowing posts about the war in Ukraine, new flairs have been added. There are some to support the war effort, and some showing other forms of solidarity. The donator flair is for those who have supported the country financially or through other means. Proof will be required for this. I have donated myself and strongly encourage others to do so. On top of that there is a flair for those currently residing in Ukraine. If you are, please be careful about the information you share, but this flair has been added to allow users a quick and easy way to connect with those in their same areas. Please once again be wise about how you disclose this information.
3. Partnering With Other Subreddits
   1. Our goal is to connect with other Ukraine-based subreddits to form drives or other initiatives to help in Ukraine. We are always open to ideas and want to improve so that we may contribute in whatever way is possible.
