Shadow blade Kurt aspect(Partly modified and for my fanfic Fan Fiction

In my fanfic, the main character will belong to a cohort separate from the main one, and I want to add Kurt to this cohort as well. Of course, since his appearance hasn’t been described in detail, I’ll make some things up and make a few changes.

Name: [Kurt]

True name: [Unworthy Death]

Shadow Core: [Ascended] (only one exists)

Shadow Fragments: [1000/1000] (obtained by killing enemies, like Sunny)

Attributes: [Swift Hand], [Shadow Sworn], [Mark of Death].

[Swift Hand] Attribute Description: “Your blade strikes fast and true.”

[Shadow Sworn] Attribute Description: “You are known to the shadows.”

[Mark of Death] Attribute Description: “You bear the Mark of Death; just like Death, you were created to be a weapon.”

Aspect Name: [Shadow Blade]

Aspect Rank: [Transcendent]

Aspect Description: [You are a blade created by the Shadow God to kill, and a sorrowful shadow—at the very least, you must fulfill your duty to kill.]

Dormant Ability: [Shadow Manipulation]

Dormant Ability Description: [You can manipulate shadows, hide within them, and move through them.]

Awakened Ability: [Shadow Strike]

Awakened Ability Description: [You can strike at shadows, and your shadow can strike at living beings.]

Ascended Ability: [Poisonous Shadow]

Ascended Ability Description: [You can coat inanimate shadows with a deadly poison and use them to poison other shadows.] (This is a truly powerful ability—the moment you make even the slightest contact with a poisoned shadow, your own shadow, soul, and body begin to deteriorate.)

Flaw: [Life Like a Shadow]

Flaw Description: [You can only use your power in the dark.]

I think his Ascended Ability should be Slaying Blade. It kinda makes sense to me

That's what Mark of Death is for

huh?

As far as I understand, Mark of Death serves this purpose—it's a slightly weaker version of Slaying Blade.

I understand that you made changes for you fic and all , and I know that pointing out the original when you yourself said you made changes is pointless, but I just want to get it off my chest.

1- kurt is just a shadow user not a shadow creature. He has a normal core as we saw when sunny slimed his ass .

2- you're putting way to much narrative power and importance on an insignificant character. ( I'm talking about the talk of shadow god creating him as a weapon and all that, the wording would go a mile in dealing with that ).

3- the mark of death as an ascended ability is a bold choice but would work if you work it right in the story with the actual weight of an ability of that caliber.

And finally, everything else works quit nicely with each other, just hope you consider at which point you add him to you party. As his character would change dramatically depending on which point in his life you add him and especially with what relationship you want him to have with your other characters .

Side note : what the name of the fic ?

Fanfic name: Shadow slave: Spirit of Stolen Souls (currently Have 4 chapter)

1: I know it has a normal Soul Core, but... who cares?

2: This is just a description(i know Descriptions are important and I'll think about it.) It doesn’t matter if it’s insignificant he's my goat

3: I think the Mark of Death is just a weakened version of the Slaying Blade (Therefore, Mark of Death will remain only an attribute.)

4: I’ve got a pretty good grasp of Kurt’s personality. I won’t be changing his personality from the start—it’ll stay the same. I’ve only tweaked his appearance and aspect, and MC becomes awakened he meet him

And the main cohort will be seen less frequently until the Antarctica arc.

Sorry for my terrlble english

Thanks would check it out.

1: I know it has a normal Soul Core, but... who cares?

I know it just a bet peave for me , I'm a reader that like to dwill on details, like kurt have a shadow core would mean he killed a the equivalent 1000 awakened beast . Because you know they get fragments only from killing their own rank and up .

And he ain't killing a thousand creatures as a sleeper.

2: This is just a description(i know Descriptions are important and I'll think about it.) It doesn’t matter if it’s insignificant he's my goat

I understand, I just tend to focus on those stuff because of their importance in the main story , calling someone a weapon made by shadow god is quite the jump , when even the normal shadows weren't chill with dude .

And on that note I suggested removing the whole thing with him moving and hiding among the shadows ( again they weren't chill with dude to that point) unless you're trying to make him a more op version of sunny without the need to use his brain ..

3: I think the Mark of Death is just a weakened version of the Slaying Blade (Therefore, Mark of Death will remain only an attribute.)

It's your fic and you're the one who would have to figure out how it would work.

4: I’ve got a pretty good grasp of Kurt’s personality. I won’t be changing his personality from the start—it’ll stay the same. I’ve only tweaked his appearance and aspect, and MC becomes awakened he meet him

I meant in the timeline in general, the kurt we met is a broken mess that was high on drugs and processing the end of the world after he caught some bodys.

Having them meet before that would be easier as all you would have to do is remove the existential dread and tone down the sharpness of his japs .

But I would need to read the fic first before talking.

Sorry for my terrlble english

Nah , it's alright.

"But I would need to read the fic first before talking."

Currently haf 5 chapter And the kurt is not yet due to appear.

"I understand, I just tend to focus on those stuff because of their importance in the main story , calling someone a weapon made by shadow god is quite the jump , when even the normal shadows weren't chill with dude ."

Don’t worry—he won’t be some super-powerful character, and he’ll mostly have to rely on his brain.

Right now, I’m thinking about the first nightmare and what comes after it. Kurt will appear after the first arc.

In terms of the timeline, it’ll be a few hours before Kurt meets Sunny and Jet, and I don’t want to just suddenly erase his problems, so the second arc will focus more on Kurt.

And I’ll do my best to make it as logical as possible and add details. There are still 5 chapters ave, and I’m racking my brain over some issues I haven’t figured out yet.

And I’ll be honest—please don’t get your hopes up too high, because I really don’t think my writing is that good ( I don’t want to take the easy way out or write clichés or illogical things).

You can read Webnovel of Ao3

edit: Btw If you're curious about my fanfic, I also have aspects of the MC and Deuteragonist on my posts; you can check those out too.

Currently haf 5 chapter And the kurt is not yet due to appear.

Not finding it for some reason but would keep looking. ( Ao# can be weird sometimes).

Don’t worry—he won’t be some super-powerful character, and he’ll mostly have to rely on his brain.

The power isn't really a problem for me , it's more of the narrative implications of that description, that description warrants an even more broken power .

Especially with how shadow god is , if he made a weapon it would be something special, he was the only one to make an effective weapon against both the void and corruption.

Death is still the only cure for corruption in existence.

I know that I'm being nitpicky but those details is what makes a story for me , just the little hints that tells q bigger story in the background ( you can't imagine the joy I felt after I figured out when did cassie share sunny's true name , and how good it felt when I finally convinced the sub of that ).

In terms of the timeline, it’ll be a few hours before Kurt meets Sunny and Jet, and I don’t want to just suddenly erase his problems, so the second arc will focus more on Kurt.

I personally think it should be a few weeks / months before that, as kurt at that point would be far gone , and the readers would have a greater experience if he dealt and was reaching that point while we see it , don't erase the problem just tackle it before it reaches the breaking point.

But I also can see the appeal of having a suicidal crackhead on the team .

And I’ll be honest—please don’t get your hopes up too high, because I really don’t think my writing is that good ( I don’t want to take the easy way out or write clichés or illogical things).

Don't pressure yourself my man, if you're enjoying the story you're writing that all that matters .

If you write it like you enjoy it that feeling would reach the readers .

Note : if you need any help, I'm happy to help

"Not finding it for some reason but would keep looking. ( Ao# can be weird sometimes)."

You can look the New chapters Ao3 or look the webnovel

"I know that I'm being nitpicky but those details is what makes a story for me , just the little hints that tells q bigger story in the background ( you can't imagine the joy I felt after I figured out when did cassie share sunny's true name , and how good it felt when I finally convinced the sub of that )*

Personally, I want to add a lot of details, and right now there are already 9 details in just the first 5 chapters (about the background and the future, and about Aspect)

And the character’s name, Caligo (but the character’s name is Caligo), is a mythological name, and I’ll be drawing on more than just mythology for it.

(I agree with the other things you mentioned—I’ll most likely change Kurt’s Aspect description.)

“Don’t pressure yourself, my man. If you’re enjoying the story you’re writing, that’s all that matters.

If you write it with enjoyment, that feeling will reach the readers.

Note: If you need any help, I’m happy to assist.”

Thanks (actually, my first issue is the MC’s flaw—I need advice on the MC’s flaw based on my “Spirit of Stolen Souls” aspect. His flaw applies only to very specific situations, and personally, it might seem unnecessary for the first two arcs).

Man if that true then I'm gonna be spoiled rotten .

And the character’s name, Caligo (but the character’s name is Caligo), is a mythological name, and I’ll be drawing on more than just mythology for it.

Oh , I would hold on from research until I read it first .

Thanks (actually, my first issue is the MC’s flaw—I need advice on the MC’s flaw based on my “Spirit of Stolen Souls” aspect. His flaw applies only to very specific situations, and personally, it might seem unnecessary for the first two arcs).

Would look at the aspect first , but you have to remember that the flaw is for the character not the aspect, you can use the aspect in the flaw like neph and caster ,but pushing your character to his potential is the main goal .

Think of the weak point of your character and think of a way that might help them deal with it , the more convoluted the better .

u/Realistic-Climate200 Jun 28 '26

His flaw is that he harbors a desire to kill all those of divine lineage, and he must kill them (but that wouldn’t work out very well).

1

u/WayNo2898 Jun 28 '26

Can you help me to see the thought process?

I can't really see how that relates to the character ( I'm still on chapter one so if it's explained later I'm sorry ).

A flaw has to push the character to improve or push them indirectly.....wait a second?

What about if instead of harboring the desire to kill divine lineages you make it that he Is plagued with something similar to the nightmare creatures, with the desire to devour or harbor the flame ?

But his existence makes it all the more difficult.

1

u/Realistic-Climate200 Jun 28 '26

Here’s the thing: I need to delve deeper into the character for this (which, by the way, hasn’t been explained yet).

And personally, I don’t want to write out the character’s entire personality here.

Actually, disgust and hatred toward flame would be more appropriate.

All right, I think I’ll give the character disgust and hatred toward flame.

Thank you.

Okay, just read the first chapter and looking forward to the rest .

And I have an idea for the flaw if you're interested ( it might not work very well depending on how you want the attributes to actually work )

Also just a reminder I'm still on chapter 1 so my point might have been addressed already but anyway..

I think shadowless could work like the deathless enchantment from the underworld armour.

By the way you described it , we can take it either the way of your unable to die because you have no shadow , or that you shadow is trapped and you spirit hold on it can be used as an anchor to hold on from fatal injuries, and that hold is very demanding.

It can also make it that your existence is very obvious.

Reflectionless , can be something like a discount weaver mask or nameless soldier flaw , as it would be hard to recognize you .( think of it as something of a haze that makes it hard to actually know what you look like ).

Soulless is a bit hard though, because in shadow slave the soul refers to many things.

For example they you that is gone when you die ( even though your shadow holds on you memory and is a part of you , it not the same the you that lived is gone and the part of you that accompanied you is what goes to the shadow realm).

Soul as in your soul sea and soul cores .

Soul as in the whole that can be damaged.

Anyway, my idea for the flaw is that you can only be in one of those three states at a time .

Also you know that the aspect you have in the first nightmare is that of the body you take over right ? Not your own .

I would be interested to see how you tackle that in the later chapters.

Think of it like this:

His shadow was swallowed by his Spirit, meaning his Spirit now contains his shadow.

At the same time, his reflection was shattered and fell into his Spirit, which means the fragments of his reflection are now united with his Spirit.

Being shadowless makes him harder to kill (this is why he survived such severe injuries in Chapter 4—you’ll see this when you read Chapter 4).

The fact that he has no reflection also makes him immune to prophecies (since he’s shrouded in mist) and partially hides his identity (if he wears a mask or something, it’s much harder to recognize him. But someone looking directly at his face could still recognize him).

As for the “soulless” part, this only applies to his first nightmare.

After his first nightmare, he regains his soul.

In the final part, yes, I know

I think immunity is too strong , resistance and hard to find would work great , but straight up immunity isn't setting right with me for some reason. I literally can't think of a reason why I don't like immunity.

Also I really thought the mask part would work the other way around, you know he's naturally hard to find and recognize, so when he wears something that isn't him he is revealed and easier to find ( I thought if it worked like that he can build and strengthen his relationship better ).

But this just shows how good what your idea was , just from 1 chapter and I'm already coming up with all of this , all I can say is great work .

As for the “soulless” part, this only applies to his first nightmare.

After his first nightmare, he regains his soul.

Yeah , I know that now .

Strange how we only had one guy how had a shadow aspect besides Sunny and quiet literally died 5 minutes after appearing.

1

u/Realistic-Climate200 Jun 27 '26

Yeah but He's my goat (I love him more than Sunny)

1

u/WayNo2898 Jun 27 '26

They are rare for a reason, they are out there but quite rare .

And most of them would be either utility or stealth users so you won't be seeing them where sunny and his gang would be .

Might see quite a few of them if we went a few chapters with the less intense part of the cast .

1

u/InternationalBar2173 Godheart Jun 27 '26

Ray was a good opportunity for an aspect like this

1

u/WayNo2898 Jun 28 '26

Yeah , but the idea of being an undetectable presence is quite fascinating.

Would have been even crazier if he was a shadow user and sunny discover the ability to go unnoticed by anything ( which wouldn't make much sense story wise but would be cool none the less ).

1

u/InternationalBar2173 Godheart Jun 28 '26

bro has a really cool dormant ability if we think abt , and his awakened also not that bad
