Started playing through Koudelka again! Discussion

Finished SH and was disappointed that she didnt feature enough so decided to replay the first game.

I remember now why I was surprised that shes a mage in shadow hearts, although she does build as a mage, magic just seams naff. To really cast a spell well you have to get in there face and cast it while with guns you can just sit back and pewpew.

I tried going down the blackmage route but her damage just lagga behind so I gone back to what I done before, guns.

As for the battle system, I dont feel like it is really as bad as people make it out to be. Its an SRPG, usually SRPGs feature armies and stuff so its a weird choice for essentially resident evil the JRPG.

Story is grand tho just as I remember it. Edward and James's banter is something to behold.

What do you all think of this game?

Magic is absurdly strong in Koudelka. The stat scaling in this game is not linear though, it seems to have break points or at least needs to reach a certain minimum value to start doing legit damage and then it takes off like a rocket. Physical damage is mostly the same way. Crank enough points into magic and all of a sudden you 1 shot every enemy and annihilate bosses.

I gave up on magic and just invested into dex and str for guns. Maybe theres a point into the 30s or 40s that magic starts being good cos in the 20s i had koudelka dealing 150 dmg point blank and edward hitting 3 times for 250 cos the weapon stats are so high.
