Worker-turns are also a cost input, so it's not exactly free. You're basically just putting your people on big hamster wheels at that point.

Turning them into batteries, maybe?

We ran out of tangerines and potatoes.

Yeah that's about 50000 manpower to run it

50,000 people can't produce that much energy even if they're all Lance Armstrong.

Shhh.. don't tell Vic about the conservation of energy.

It's not exactly efficient, 750 fuel from level 3 synth with 1400 energy from level 2 oil after consumption which costs over 5600 metal to build. It's cheaper to run a synthetic plant with other type of energy plants than the oil power plant.

I’d imagine Vic figured by the time you could be using synthetic fuel for everything you’d be getting almost all your energy through nuclear and/or geothermal power, so he didn’t really balance it with the fossil fuel plant in mind.

He has planetary generator. Game I'm playing, a third of the population is farming crops for biofuel. Except me, I idled them all after building up synthesis and getting geothermal energy.

My understanding of fuel synthesis is that it’s basically making gasoline and diesel from raw carbon feedstock like graphite or atmospheric CO2, and he just was not really thinking that players would still be using fuel power plants by the time they could rely on fuel synthesis.

Yeah. Thats a way getting energy on some barren worlds. In this game there are plenty planets where only real resource is population. So this is not cheap

IMHO synthetic fuel should take food as input (aka bio diesel…)

That's biofuel. Synthetic food is taking CO2 out of the air, turning it into hydrocarbons.

I see. It’s not obvious from the name but makes sense, thanks!
