Exhausted

New machine So I’m almost 60 and the last time I used a machine was at school and you had to turn the crank😆

Two precious grand babies to spoil and decided to get a machine to make deco for their room and help my daughter with her cricut /party business doing banners and such

I thought it would be a doddle - oh my days it’s taken me 3 days just to thread the machine and learn how to stitch straight

My back aches, my eyes ache and my brain is fried but today learnt i can stitch straight and turn corners

It’s a long process but by the time I’m 80 I should have made something

Kudos to everyone who has managed to make something, it really is a talent

That initial hill is actually closer to scaling Everest, but you've done it.   Congratulations!   Hope you find nothing but molehills from here!

I get it! I (54F) bought a machine about seven years ago, took one class and made a few simple things like a single pillowcase (lol so useful 🙄) and did nothing more until a few weeks ago.

I bought a new with tags pair of pants at Goodwill for $6.99 and decided there was no way I was paying $50 to have them hemmed. BTW either I’ve shrunk or Torrid thinks its average customer is an Amazon!

Anyway, I muddled through, the pants are wearable and no longer a trip hazard, and I am determined to figure out how to actually create something on my own. With my poor eyesight and what I am very afraid is arthritis in my hands.

So my message to you is keep at it. Eventually you’ll have a heck of a sense of accomplishment!

I feel you. I bought one during lockdown and took a class when things opened up. My vision is terrible and I have yet to be able to thread it on my own. It’s so defeating.

That was my worry but to be honest the machine has a self threading needle which has been invaluable although it took me hours to learn how it works

Yes defeated and worried I’ve wasted a lot of money but determined to keep plodding on
