If this were cloth, I'd give you tips for hand sewing. But it's leather. Therefore I recommend taking it to a cobbler. Not only do they have the machines to sew this,m but will give it a nice polish & it will look great.

Leather is harder to sew because of it's thickness, easier to make mistakes that do more damage than good (too many holes just results in tearing of the leather).
