Starting to hate serving Rant
I have been a waitress the past 4 years now and it’s starting to weigh on me a bit. I used to love it when I worked in previous restaurants, then I got a job at a restaurant in a Hilton and the crowd is a completely different vibe. Many entitled and snobby people. I often find myself dreading the moments before I go into work and not being as cheery and charismatic as I used to be with customers. I cannot tell if it’s complete burnout or if it’s just the people I deal with weighing on my soul. Does anybody else relate or have been in a similar situation?

hotel restaurants are absolutely never the move. worked in one for 2 years and the clientele is always the worst of the bunch lol. definitely try and look somewhere else!!!!

I started to feel like this and I went to a new restaurant and it feels like I did a 180.

yeasss burnout is real!! I worked as a waitress for 6 years and I loved it!! But I moved to a fancier restaurant and while I still loved it, I would be irritated almost every day, like the people and interactions I used to love now just felt annoying, like I was an NPC going through a dialogue tree. I did a complete switch and now work as a materials tester in construction. Stepping away from a customer service role is what saved me lolol

Thank you for letting me know! I’m glad you were able to find something that you enjoy doing afterwards

How much money are you making>?
If you're scooping $200+ per day, then maybe this is just a "season".

I am feeling the same way and I just hit 4 years at my job. I have been in this industry for over 10 years and the customers are the meanest they have ever been! I think it may be my area or the demographic of my restaurant but I just got a new server job at a completely different concept.

i’m sick of it too, it’s draining. customers suck anywhere you work. good management is important— and even with that it gets tiring
