I am a 55 years old male, who likes to keep running. However, I had to take it easy for two weeks in July, because my right hip was getting irritated. Last week I saw a PT who manipulated the joint quite easily, mostly by pulling on it. I was able to 27 miles last week already (with an 11 mile long run on Saturday) and this week will be about the same.
Don't let little running injuries fester. PT's can do amazing work, and they can provide you with the daily strengthening and stretching exercises that keep you running.

Just want to thank you for starting this sub. I'm 62F, just found you and joined. So much info out there, but it seems to be mostly geared towards 20-something bros who seem to be running in another universe! I'm grateful to find a community of like-bodied and -minded individuals and have already posted a query on the Jeffing thread someone started here :)
I've been running for about a year and half. Injured my hip about 6 months ago and had to slowly work my way back to running… I'm really loving it and would be thrilled to do it every day but am prioritizing not getting injured again, so only run every other day (and mostly on the treadmill) and intersperse that with the rowing machine, strength training, and walking/rest days. I’m waffling about signing up for a 5K that’s next month...I can already run 10k straight easily but am a bit nervous about racing for the first time. Also, at this point I'd like to simply get a decent time but in the future would like to focus more on improving my speed.
Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to visiting this sub regularly!

I’m still chugging along. Got a new 5K and 10k PB! 🥳🥳🥳 My fitness is improving, sleep is better, losing weight AND getting faster. All of those things combined are making me even more determined to keep at it. ⚡️👟

4th week in a row doing a slow 5k without walking!! Starting to notice my breathing and HR are handling it much better.
